CRC Car Rental Company at Lisbon Airport

Pros: Drop off was fine. Car was clean and reliable

Cons: The check in experience was not good. It took 90 minutes before we left with the car. 45 minutes before we could even talk to someone. The electronic check in did not work. No GPS as requested. The check in person tried to tell us the car was to be returned empty and they would fill it for 200€. We refused as that is a ridiculous price. We felt the overall experience was that they were trying to take advantage of us. I would not rent from them again.

Pros: I was quickly picked up at airport and taken to their office about 10mns away

Cons: The fact that I wasn't able to return the car outside of Lisbon. I had to travel 130kms just to drop it off. From what I found out I could only return it either to their office or the airport.

Cons: For this particular rental, we did not end up having the car as we had double-booked. This is the reason for the low scores. Although I have given Discover Cars a good recommendation score, I and my wife are both disappointed that neither Discover Cars nor the rental company brought the double booking to our attention in time to cancel so we could cancel one of them.

Cons: CRC and other rental companies try to sell even more comprehensive insurance at the desk. Full-full-coverage insurance that increases prices by 500%. So we were forced to check every inch of bodywork to count the risks that could be charged at the time of return. What agents forget is that bodywork risks are not the result of the tenants' fault and are attributed to the business risk. Just a small scratch on the car and they 'll charge you for days with the car stopped .

Pros: Most beautiful rental car facility I have ever been in. Lots of cars to choose from. Our vehicle was sparkling clean and like new with less than 10K km. Entire transaction takes place inside, including pick-up of car that is in a separate parking space, ready to drive out. Peugeot 208 that I selected for the trip drove beautifully and was perfect for our needs.

Cons: Check-In took some time with three separate payments for car, tolls, and security deposit. Other than that, it was a fantastic experience

Pros: CRC is the worst car rental company I came across in my well established travel experience. The company appeal, webpage, building and service desk look fancy and rich but equipped by unskilled arrogant staff and supervisors. My flight was delayed for 3 hours and when arrived to pick my car, they told me my booking was cancelled for no show and wanted to book me the same car for triple the price. They were rude and don’t understand tourism business.

Also pick up was long wait at airport to get to off site - we waited 45 minutes at airport with little information as to why so long - maybe a bottle of water to greet us or a place to sit and wait - no we had to wait at the curb in the sun and left to our own to identify pick up van …. So unprofessional service

Cons: The person that did the paperwork on the car rental was unfriendly and was keen to sell me car insurance and asked me to pay for a full tank of petrol ( hire was for Full to Full). Said if the smallest amount was missing a refuelling charge of 50 euro.

Pros: Easy to find the office in Lisbon near airport, and offered a good car upgrade but should have not gone with small comapct SUV in the first place

Cons: Trying to charge me £50 for some sand on the seats and almost made me miss my flight finding an alternative place and never had this issue in the past as the car would be cleaned with a vacuum anyway so why would it cost them anymore - money making exercise considering the amount of sand on the seat and floor mats. Why not offer a free vacuum for clients to clear up sand if this is a major issue as will put me off future visits.

Cons: CRC decided they couldn't be bothered to meet and greet us at the airport as we arrived 1 minute late. As our flight was 1 hour late, we texted them as soon as we landed, but they did not reply, only to ask for EUR 50 extra to pick us up 'out-of-hours'.

Cost me an extra $800. - Needed to pay for UBER to take us back to the hotel by the airport. This wouldn't have been an issue if the rental company was ACTUALLY AT THE AIRPORT

Cons: The airport spokesman is very hard to find since he wonders around and he doesn't have a desk there. Furthermore the facility is 10 minutes away by van (provided by them for free).

Gave us a car that already had issues, then their was no mention of an extra fee for out of hour services, charged us for car damages that where already on the car, example, dent on the door, scratched rim after informing us everything was good. They were not welcoming or friendly.

Cons: Scammed out of money for fuel. Was offered a refill service which we took. However when getting the car it was only half full. So returned with the same amount in and asked for the refund of our refill (€77) and they said it’s not refundable.

Cons: We felt that we were being punished for having booked through DiscoverCars.

Pros: CRC made the entire process easy. The facility where we picked up the car was modern and clean, the agents were efficient and professional, and the car was exactly what we reserved. Enabling the toll option was convenient as we didn't have to stop at each toll booth. Returning the car was also simple and we were on our way to the airport via shuttle about 15 minutes after we dropped off the car. I would definitely rent from CRC again.

Cons: The CRC company offers a Peugeot 3008 automatic car on your website and it does not have such a car, and the replacement car it offers is smaller. I left with the feeling that they are not reliable. If you check on GOOGLE MAPS you will see that there are a lot of complaints against them. I really hope that the DiscoverCars company will return to me all the unnecessary money that the CRC rental company unfairly charged me.

The car was smaller than the one I had selected on the website. The attitude of the service agent when I picked up the car, especially when trying to up-sell me on a larger vehicle. There was no windshield washer fluid.

Pros: The staff were excellent. I was a little concerned with all of the credit card transactions that took place initially on pick up. I was very concerned that I would be charged exorbitant amounts in the end upon returning the vehicle. Deposits on my credit card were in the range of 1200$, this was scary when the initial quote was in the 300$ range.

Cons: There was nothing to not like about the staff and facilities of CRC. Totally professional.

When we did get to the CRC we were informed that they no longer had the car we had rented and that we would need to pay between $25 and $30 more per day for our 20 day rental to get a different car. Since they already had our prepayment we paid what they asked to get a car. Dishonest, bait and switch! Buyer beware. We were cheated!

Cons: Absolutely the slowest process on the planet I have ever experienced. Not just me many people there were frustrated and angry and waited well over an hour to collect my car. Only two agents at the desk, over 10 customers at one point and takes about 10-15 minutes per customer (upsells and paperwork) would not recommend it, it is better to pay the extra $$ for the car at the airport where they move you quickly!

Cons: I apparently took the wrong ticket upon entering, and proceeded to wait 45 minutes as I watched several people who came in after me get their cars. When I asked about it the agent walked over to the ticket dispenser, told me I had the wrong one, pulled another ticket for me, and put me at the back of the line again! Then, the hidden and unexpected fees resulted in my car costing double what I expected. They take advantage of the language barrier and tired travelers.

Pros: There were plenty of attendees, so wait times were minimal. The agents we worked with were nice, efficient and well-informed.

Cons: The experience waiting for and picking up the shuttle at the airport was confusing and chaotic. Directions for where to meet the agent were confusing. Once we found the agent, we were greeted with the most drab and uncaring presence. Maybe she was having a bad day, but it was hard to trust the information she was giving us. We waited quite a while for the shuttle, and once it came we had to basically dart in front of people to get one of the six or eight seats in the van. It was stressful.

Pros: Overall, it was okay except for the gross overcharge that was pushed on us regarding insurance that we where hit with at pickup of the rental. Over 400€ for 19 days. We felt trapped into taking it. If we did not take the insurance, over $4000 would be held in our credit card. Any little thing that would happen to the card would be deducted from that amount held on our credit card. We had even purchased extra insurance through Discovery, which we were told was minimal and basically useless.

The Discovery website says that over 85% of people get the insurance offered by Discovery.... so over 85% of people are wasting their money if they are going to be purchasing the insurance when picking up the car. Discovery insurance only covers third person damage. Any other damage is not covered.... rock chips, dents, scratches... expect to pay large for that.

Cons: no manual or instruction booklet in the car and the information-button was not available. According to employer they never put these books in the car. Very inconvenient, if, for example, you would like to switch off Lane Assist and you have no idea how to do that. Or after putting air in your tires you do not now how to reset the dashboard-warning light.

Cons: gave me a new car. when they found a small scratch on the bumper and charged 350euro for it. I had no injuries during my trip. This is a fraud! never use this company!!!

Cons: To start with the employee was arrogant and didn’t care about our situation of having no car. Then after much discussion he said he could offer a similar car to the same price and reactivate the reservation.

Cons: The pick up of the car was a bit of a hot mess. From not knowing that you needed to get a number, to the usual upselling, to the need to return the car after the "service engine" message came up after having the car for only 24 hours.

Cons: The pick up location at the Lisbon airport is said to be in front of Vodafone, but there are 2 Vodafone stores in that same terminal! So we waited in front of the wrong one and I had to call the rental shop 3 times after 30minutes to ask for instructions because we couldn't find them. Also there wasn't any windshield washer fluid in the car which we noticed after pickup.

Cons: I needed the instructions as the car showed a symbol for 'lack of air pressure' quit fast after the pickup. It ended up in a car repair showing up twice at our holiday stay to fix a flat tire

Cons: We were late to pick up the car due to a flight delay and long lines at customs. We were told the car we booked was no longer available and has to pay another €200 for the car we were given (the same as we paid for our original booking).

Pros: Free shuttle too and from airport. Just takes forever for them to pick you up.

Cons: Forced me to pay more to get similar vehicle listed in my reservation. Typical approach by low budget car rental companies. A lot of damage on vehicle not listed on the initial paperwork. Had to request all damage be document prior to departure.

Cons: The fact that the type of car requested was on a very vast range (compact) when the car that was needed was very specific for my needs

Cons: They forced to pay for additional insurance, which was !!50%!! of the rental price. They did not accept to pay deposit from 2 cards. They were arrogant and pointed fingers several times towards the fact that what I ordered on the website is between me and discovery cars they have nothing to do with it. They even wanted to charge extra for early return and baby seat which extra was already in the price and clearly stated on the voucher!

Pros: new, fully loaded car, quick transfer to airport

Cons: the hour long wait to collect car was unacceptable

Cons: I had to pay extra non refundable 390 EUR for not owning a credit card for paying the car deposit (I had only debit cards and cash), which I was informed about at the spot of picking up the car. To be fair, they offered me to cancel the car rental and lose all the money I had already paid for it (280 EUR). This is a great business scheme as not many Europeans own credit cards (as it is financially speaking dumb).

Cons: Terms and conditions were not clearly presented on the webpage before we booked the car. After booking, there was a mandatory deposit of 1200 euros when picking up the car, but this deposit could be paid only with credit card, debit card was not accepted. We were forced to buy additional insurance for the car, which price was at first 90 euros and then, magically, dropped to 66.42 euros after complaints. After paying for additional insurance, the required deposit was 300 euros.

Pros: Informative and friendly staff

Cons: The full insurance does not cover the possibility of the personal stuff to be stolen. Cars did not have the highway toll, so we had to pay for it.

Pros: The CRC rental company was difficult to get a hold of before pickup. Pickup time was long. And they gave me a car outside of what I booked only after I signed the contract. They didn't send me the contract as promised. And then when I arrived at my apartment, I decided not to take the trip because I didn't feel safe driving a semi-automatic car without a contract.

Cons: It's awful. The worst rental company ever. Terrible business practices and thieves.
