Pros: The cas was clean on the outside, and the fuel tank was 100% full, which is nice if you depart from the airport.

Cons: We needed to wait over half an hour to get the keys of the car, with only two other clients in front of us! We saw a lot of people from Hertz and Firefly walking in and out the desk office, but nobody took some action to help us, or the others behind us waiting. Secondly, the car was cleaned on the outside, but the second seat row was filled with dog hair, so no cleaning inside was performed. The drop off point when delivering the car back was very caotic.

Cons: This is complicated. First the car we reserved was not available and we were given a larger van type vehicle that we did not want. We drove that car from the Lisbon airport to Cascais and then to SIntra - no problem. The next morning there seemed to be a problem with the car and it was picked up by a tow truck.

Cons: Took ages to check in and receive the car. Insufficient number of agents. At times just 1 agent at the desk. Unacceptable waiting time and service from Hertz who did not seem to care.

Pros: Price - surprisingly low for a compact car compared with the well known rentals, car practically new, easy going staff.

Cons: Condition of the tires - not worn, but lots of bits missing at the front. To me it seems like safety might not be the priority. But maybe it was just the car l rented that was this bad. Otherwise the car looked well looked after

Cons: Hello, On June 2nd, 2024 6:30 pm. while in Sagres, Portugal my rental car would not move. I called the Emergency Roadside assistance number and they sent out a tow truck. The Tow Truck driver arrived around 7:30 pm and he said the Clutch was not working. He drove me to Lagos then a Taxi had to take me all the way to Faro to get another car. Pros: The car was fine but that's it...see below

Cons: The time spent in line at the Hertz / Firefly desk. The electronic ticket system was awful! Hertz customers were given priority. The recieved a ticket and jumped ahead of us in the queue..I could go on! When we arrive there wete 4 families in front of us, it took us almost 2hrs to be attended to as others simply wete given priority ahead of us! Ridiculous.

Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 1300.00), Theft Protection, Third Party Liability (TPL), Airport surcharge, Vehicle registration fee, Free modifications, State Tax.
Rate excludes
Many highways in Portugal are tolled using only electronic means.
All rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder that can be used for paying for all toll roads.
You’ll be charged a service fee of 1.77 EUR per day up to a maximum of 17.70 EUR per rental in addition to the tolls, which will be charged to your credit card after the rental period.
You may also be required to leave an additional deposit for tolls.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

UK customers must bring their DVLA check code along with their photo ID. This check code can be obtained from the DVLA website.
Driver licenses will be accepted if issued in the following country(ies): United Kingdom, EU. Driver licenses from all other countries must be accompanied with International Driving Permit (IDP).
For driver licenses from countries not party to the International Driving Permit treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license. A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.
In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.
Deposit and deductible policy

Payment policy
At time of pick up, customers will be required to pay the amount of the rental and a deposit.
It is possible to leave the deposit only with following methods: Diners, MasterCard credit card, VISA credit card, American Express credit card.
For the Luxury, Premium, Cabrios, Special car group, a minimum of two credit cards issued on the main driver's name are required.
Only cards issued in the main driver's name are accepted.

The main driver must provide a physical payment card in their name with enough funds to cover the deposit to pick up the car. The rental company will neither accept virtual credit cards (e.g., GooglePay or ApplePay) nor someone else’s card (including family members).
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Alternatively, the renter may purchase a tank full of fuel at the time of rental and return the tank empty.
Additional information
Winter tires are not mandatory in Portugal. Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.

Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.
Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 29 minutes.
