Pros: Very pleased

Cons: As said above, I booked the car with full insurance coverage including glass damage but still had to pay 428€ for damaged windscreen. There are no instructions on how to claim my money back. No insurance policy can be found in the emails sent by Goldcar/Discovery.

Cons: I didn’t get a car that was the equivalent of what I booked. A Dacia Sandero has a boot that is over 100 litres smaller than a Nissan Juke, and the car is not of equivalent build quality. The representatives at the reception desk tried quite hard to sell their damage insurance which was very expensive.

Cons: I was charged around £100 more (on arrival at Lisbon airport) than my online agreement. The chap at the Goldcar desk said that “This is because I used an intermediary rather than dealing with Golcar directly” What chance does the online customer have?
Cons: - the service desk was absolutely packed. I used the app to check-in and it made no difference - immediately after they took payment, I was told that there was a problem getting the cars ready because they were somehow stuck in a jam going up a ramp. I later found out the real issue was a shortage of staff which obviously meant much slower pickup times. Some folks had been waiting for two hours - the car itself was ok but I did have to call Road assistance as it refused to start

Passenger seat unable to adjust, had to sit on a cushion to see out of window and I am 5’7” . Sounded like shock absorbers had gone, as when reached speeds of over 80km/hr car shook and made a thudding noise

Cons: Car was given in poor overall condition,service overdue, no adBlue which I had to top,cracked windshield that wasn’t visibly marked on paper but on small print .road assistance wasn’t that assistive and even hang up the phone first time I contacted. My vehicle should’ve not even been given with a cracked windshield, and should’ve also been replaced as first sign of issue and that wasn’t even an offer. Only response I got was to email someone to sort the issue tho I’d to pay all in advance.

Cons: Absolute rip off merchants!!! Advertise the cheapest price and then charge you so many extras so actually its a complete false economy. Final bill even included young driver fee, under 25 yet we are 40!! Still fighting as they deduct from your card once youve left!

Cons: They gave me a key and sent me to find the car in the parking. The car was not there, the employee went himself to check, didn't find the car. He gave me another key and change my booking for another car. This took a while. This car didn't have the damage paper correct and I lost some time filling in this form and waiting for the employee to check. I rented the car for two days, on the second day, the car stopped working. It took a long time to restart it and I return it earlier. Bad experience.

Pros: Requested franchise is much too high (1600€) and obliges most of the consumers to take the insurance at a very high price as most of us do not have such a high limit on their creditcard (most of the time 1250€). It's a real scam and we won't take Goldcar ever again.

Pros: The Car rental company was named Surprice on the email header then subsequently renamed to Goldcar on the voucher. This caused unnecessary delays as we ended up being driven into Lisbon to a company who had no car for us.
Cons: The lack of support when the vehicle would randomly not start. The company would not resolve the issue as we were not stranded, as the car would eventually start after 20 minutes or so.The boot catch was dangerously loose. The car Media system required an Authentication code after it failed to start the first time. (no radio or sat nav thereafter).
Cons: Goldcar refused to accept my debit card despite it being stated it would be accepted on the booking voucher. After lots of to-fro, and the agent said it simply wasn't possible due to a change in Goldcar systems, they finally put through the transaction and allowed us to rent the car.

Offer details from Discovercars : I choose FORD transit for 117€ but give me FIAT Payments : Online payment to book the rent : 49€ Day of pick up : have to pay 67€ but at the rental agency I paid 210.59€ AND NOT 67€ Deposit : 179€ (104€ gas and 75€ motorway fee) 49€ + 210.59€ + 179€ = 438.59€ paid ! while the discovercars offered the car for 117€ with full coverage !!!

Cons: Unfortunately the Fiat Panda we rented failled on us 5x in less than 1500 kms. The check engine light came on and no engine power at all as I was driving on the motorway with my family and 2 kids under 3. I've rented other cars with Goldcar, like a Toyota Aygo and Micra before, but this Panda was a nightmare regarding reliability.
Cons: They tried to increase the cost of my rental from 50 Euros to 200 Euros at the desk. I walked away and did not hire the car.

Cons: My experiences with the rental process and my subsequent conversations with Goldcar staff indicates a lack of attention to details at the location and discrepancies in your own record keeping. I have never ever received a treatment so negative and unfair.

Cons: Goldcar was not transparent with me about the cost breakdown of my car rental; I declined insurance and they charged me for it anyway and refused to refund me after I realized this had happened. Their central customer service has not followed up with me after I contacted them.

Cons: Goldcar has to be clear as to where to collect the car as there are numerous car rentals in Lisbon airport. I expected an agent to be at the airport and after 20 minutes an agent told me that Goldcar desk is located in the in the airport.

Representative told us we were required to spend at least 200 for insurance, when the voucher clearly said we did not need to buy additional insurance if we did not want to. When we tried to address this with the representatives, they told us to file a claim but would not facilitate a refund.

Cons: The car came with full of scratches. I cannot find a side that did not have a scratch. The initial inspection was suspicious, after it was done, I got an email with an empty inspection form. When I return the the car, I got an mysterious charge of 350 euro for a "check on rim" fee. My wife and I were very careful when we return the car, we video taped the condition of the car and did not notice any damages caused by us. I will probably have to dispute those charges with the credit company. :(

Cons: I was literally threatened by the sales person when I told him I booked "with insurance" from your portal. He said "I don't care what Discover Car Hire said they sold you - there is no insurance. He coersed me to buy more insurance and I simply refused and then as I signed off nearl €1500 on my credit card assurance he said "I will personally make sure that if there is even teh smallest scratch on the car you will pay for it!" He said this with a grin on his face.

In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.
A deposit for a tank of fuel is required upon collecting the vehicle.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.
If the customer takes the following extra equipment: GPS Navigation system, Toll pass / E-toll device, then an additional amount of deposit will be held on their credit card.
It is possible to leave the deposit only with following methods: MasterCard credit card, VISA credit card.
American Express, Cash, Diners is/are not accepted.
The daily limit on the card used for payment must be high enough to cover the deposit. Otherwise, purchase of the following insurance policy(ies): Super Relax Cover is mandatory.
The main driver must provide a physical payment card in their name with enough funds to cover the deposit to pick up the car. The rental company will neither accept virtual credit cards (e.g., GooglePay or ApplePay) nor someone else’s card (including family members).
Using a ferry is allowed on the previous request and for an additional charge with special permission from the car rental company.
Details are available from the car rental company's reservation office.
In the event that Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions are violated, all protections lose their validity.

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
Underage additional drivers are subject to both Young Driver and Additional Driver fees.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.
