Rent-a-Star at Lisbon Airport

Pros: Excellent car, service and price.

Cons: Mandatory cleaning fee that wasn't advertised and made it more expansive. Slow pick-up and drop-off.

Pros: Everything was explained well, the shuttle service is fantastic and we were reassured that if we had issues on our trip to call the office and someone would help us.

Cons: No one was at the terminal to check us in. I wited 30 minutes and when no one showed I called and was informed that I should have called rather than wait by the Vodafone store as Discover cars reccomended.

Cons: The rental office is terrible to find, no sign posts. If the van wasn’t outside I would still be looking for it. Charged extra €45 for out of hours and this wasn’t advised in quote. Then had to wash the car before returning or €25 fine. Car had quite a few marks on it. Had to wait ages for car collection after a long flight.

Pros: After reporting an issue with original car they provided a replacement in different city close to our current location

Pros: They helped me twice to pick up a car earlier than the reservation stated. Agent also took us for a drive for us just to experience that model.

Cons: No one was picking up the phone upon arrival at the airport. It was outside office hours car collection but was afraid it will not happen. 30 minutes waiting for pick up since I called for first time. So far no invoice delivered by email so not sure what my final charges are.

Pros: Nothing. Right from the get-go, I felt cheated and that they were trying t take advantage of me with additional hidden costs.

Cons: Trying to fleece me. Even at drop-off, they kept trying to refund my rental deposit, but the machine wasn't connecting. This was fishy to me and I kept insisting. Only after the 5th attempt, at my insistence, it finally worked. I just felt that the customer service was very poor. Will not be renting from them again.

Cons: They added on hidden costs so what you advertised was not what we got. Unlike most rentacar agencies they charged for a child's car seat, added on taxes and costs due to the driver's age. Their hours were not flexible so drop off had to be done early.

Pros: The car was nice. Not as new as I would expect. It was a 2020 model.

Cons: It took a very long time to work through the process of picking up the car and dropping the car off. Drop off took an hour and a half. Neither pick up nor drop off staff were fully familiar with how things worked. No instructions about the car were given - I wasn’t even told it was diesel. Staff were unable to release the €1950 security hold on our car. In the end we had to trust that it would be taken care of because we needed to get to the airport. The cleaning charge was a joke.

Cons: The car I rented wasn't anymore available and was rented to someone else. The car I got was more expensive and they said that I hadn't bought an insurance, although I bought the full insurance and to get the car I had to buy an additional insurance. I said to them that I bought the full insurance but they said that I didn't. So I had to pay approximately 170€ more than the original agreement.
