Cons: Ques to collect are always long, I was sold an upgrade to find I had no air conditioning, when I returned to car (FULL) I was told it wasn’t full ant had to go and squeeze another 2 euros in the tank (I actually filmed it over flowing to provide it was full) as they were saying the full tank meter reading was not showing full .. they need to know their cars….

Cons: First Goldcar tried to sell us an extra insurance while we booked that with you. Then we got a car with 24 damages. This car broke down the next day. I had to drive to the airport to pick up a new one myself.

Cons: The car key had low battery (probably) and wouldn't always react. Given there was no physical way of unlocking the car, this was a huge potential nuisance. The clutch/gear stick was really stubborn at 1 and 6, which wasn't particularly safe in traffic

Cons: It feels as if I was scammed for 580 euros. When we received a car, it was heavily scratched and had significant dents. An agent ignored obvious defects when creating the check-out report that we had to point out to them. On the other hand, they inspected every inch of the car on the return. Unsurprisingly, they found some scratches not included in the check-out report in different improbable places and were seemingly happy with that. Do not rent from them without insuring your excess.

Cons: I did not like the fact that they tried to make me cancel the full insurance I had made with you and pay the same with them.

I photographed and made a video on pick up but unless they send the correct photo I can’t check it out properly .

Pros: The car I paid to hire wasn't provided. The replacement car had no SatNav! A big problem for being a tourist on holiday! Also, I was led to believe from the booking it was £8, then £30 for full cover. When I picked up the car Goldcar said I would need to pay a £1,500 deposit, which I didn't have so I had to pay £150 for their cover so I didn't have to pay the £1,500 deposit!

Cons: Due to delayed flights I missed my collection time. As the phone numbers supplied by Discovercars were non operative I was unable to contact the supplier to advise. The supplier was closed when I landed. When I called to pick up first thing the following morning my booking was no longer available and was obliged to take more expensive car on a new booking. I consider that we were let down by poor service from Discovercars and equally poor understanding by Goldcar.

Pros: The rental seemed cheaper initially, but I was ultimately pressured into purchasing Goldcar’s full coverage after being told they would not accept third-party coverage. It felt deceptive and left me with no real choice.

Cons: The check-in agent was dismissive of my voucher, displaying an aggressive attitude that made it clear their priority was selling Goldcar’s own coverage—likely to secure their commission.

Pros: Swift service, conveniently located at the airport terminal, great price.

Cons: They take deposits for car, tolls and petrol and they don't refund these too quickly.

Cons: The manner of the staff was terrible, they wouldn't accept the insurance already purchased, they wouldn't assist with installing the child seat, the car when receiving it had so many scratches and damage done to it.

Cons: I did not like that the time was not given to check the car overall when picking it up and although I had an early departure time (7.30am) I did not like that I had to drop the keys in a box even thought there where people on site who could have gone over and check the car before I left. I feel an advantage has been taken in this situation as I could have shown proof of this damage on the spot and there would be no confusion to this claim.

Online booking covers a lot of questions that are then repeated at the Goldcar desk. With the details they have from you and the information you gave me it seems simple: Passport, credit card keys!

Cons: Goldcar tried very hard to persuade me to buy an extra insurance in case of an accident. I had already included that insurance with discovercars, so I told them it was covered. But she insisted it would be problematic in case of an accident for example and could end up in thousands of euros. The insurance she was trying to sell me costs more than the rental price! I did not appreciate these scare tactics to get extra money! I didn't buy it, but it left an uneasy feeling...

Cons: The first car we were given broke down on the first day of rental resulting in a 3hr wait on the roadside awaiting assistance and recovery. They have a very poor recovery process in place and the whole episode ruined the first day of our holiday as it took the whole day to get recovery, transport back to the car hire in Faro and collect a second car.

Cons: The offered car was a real wreck, dirty and full of bumps/scratches on all sides with over 100,000 Km on board, a possible traffic hazard. And this was the second car offered because the first one had so many defects that even the Goldcar application used by the parking agent mentioned that it cannot be offered for rent. I was charged extra for a diesel car (even though I didn't ask for a diesel car) and in the end I got a petrol car, I'm waiting to see if Goldcar will return the unfairly charge

Cons: Goldcar were entirely unreasonable about the most invisible scratches which didn’t show on camera and which I had agreed was dirt upon collection. I acted in good faith and did not take a close up photo of it which they charged me an insane amount for on collection. I could not believe that out of the blue they were so rude. I’d gone Goldcar as I thought they were trustworthy but never again, I was quite shaken by the whole experience.

The woman on the help desk refused to show photo of the car prior to me collecting and refused to give time and date of picture taken, stating that was not information I am allowed to know. Goldcar have charged me for this damage.

Pros: From pick up to drop off I had an awful experience starting from them being misleading about the car I hired - I had hired a fist panda and they said that was the same as a fiat 500 which it clearly isn’t, so to get the correct sized car they made me get the next size up. Ending with when I returned the car they charged me for a tiny scratch right under the front of the car that must have been missed on the pick up inspection. In total I ended up paying about €300 more.

Cons: They tried multiple times to do the hard sell on insurance. I repeatedly said no. The tone by the agent was awful. It was like she got comp'ed on selling additional insurance. I was also nearly strong armed into having to use a credit card (without having one on me) but if you paid for the insurance, you wouldnt have to pay the desposit up front. I didnt have a credit card, so I had to pay the whole deposit up front. NOT a great experience!
