Goldcar at Faro Airport

Pros: Walking distance from Faro airport

Cons: They upgraded my car without consent, and when I went back to question them on it they stated I had already signed my name (on an empty screen which stated nothing about the contract) and refused to change anything. They appear cheaper at first but once you factor in the predatory behaviour of hidden fees and lies to retain deposits they are far more expensive. In addition to this the car had an engine warning light at pick-up which again, was not disclosed to me.

Pros: I wouldn"t trust them. I paid full insurance online, when collecting the car, the desk told me the insurance was no goid and wanted another £95 for insurance !!!!

Pros: Hugo, the kind staff member (Faro airport) who showed me the vehicle on arrival, also happened to be the person on duty when I returned the vehicle. Hugo was courteous and professional in his dealings and despite the many hundreds of people he sees on a weekly basis, remembered me and our Benfica chat. Great service.

Pros: When I took care of it was full of small damages. I took video, when I handed it in they tried to claim some damage was new. Things got heated and was really rude. I had to go to the police. Other customers had similar problems It seems company try to scam customers.

Pros: The car was pretty old and in poor condition, with too many scrapes and damage to note. If it wasn't for it being late at night and Goldcars system going down we would've refused the car but our options on doing this would have meant waiting for hours due to the queue of other customers and the system being down. We rented a convertible and paid a premium for it. As stated above the car was old, having 116,000 km on the clock.

They did not accept my Amex card as a deposit and took the money from my account even though I had paid extra for the full insurance protection. I would not recommend this car rental company - I rent cars all over Europe and never saw a company with that many burocracy

An agent ignored obvious defects when creating the check-out report that we had to point out to them. On the other hand, they inspected every inch of the car on the return. Unsurprisingly, they found some scratches not included in the check-out report in different improbable places and were seemingly happy with that. Do not rent from them without insuring your excess.

Cons: Due to delayed flights I missed my collection time. As the phone numbers supplied by Discovercars were non operative I was unable to contact the supplier to advise. The supplier was closed when I landed. When I called to pick up first thing the following morning my booking was no longer available and was obliged to take more expensive car on a new booking. I consider that we were let down by poor service from Discovercars and equally poor understanding by Goldcar.

Pros: The rental seemed cheaper initially, but I was ultimately pressured into purchasing Goldcar’s full coverage after being told they would not accept third-party coverage. It felt deceptive and left me with no real choice.

I did not appreciate these scare tactics to get extra money! I didn't buy it, but it left an uneasy feeling...

And this was the second car offered because the first one had so many defects that even the Goldcar application used by the parking agent mentioned that it cannot be offered for rent. I was charged extra for a diesel car (even though I didn't ask for a diesel car) and in the end I got a petrol car, I'm waiting to see if Goldcar will return the unfairly charge

Cons: Goldcar were entirely unreasonable about the most invisible scratches which didn’t show on camera and which I had agreed was dirt upon collection. I acted in good faith and did not take a close up photo of it which they charged me an insane amount for on collection. I could not believe that out of the blue they were so rude. I’d gone Goldcar as I thought they were trustworthy but never again, I was quite shaken by the whole experience.

Pros: La localisation.

Cons: The only negative was that the car seemed to be an older model.

Pros: Not much, but the staff at booking in did try their best to help me.

Cons: Trying to give me a smaller car than I had booked. The inconvenience to my family who were with me. Giving me no instruction on how to charge the car. Having no customer service available on Sunday.

Pros: Efficiency of check-in & out, the Manager’s approach to solving my problem with replacement car.

Cons: There are no spare tyres in the boot so when I got a fast puncture I had to pay for tow truck , taxi & new tyre which they did assist with quite efficiently

Pros: Staff were polite when I eventually got to speak to them.

Cons: Over half an hour waiting at the rental desk and another 10 minutes looking for the car. The car had 80k Kms and was very scruffy looking with an exhaust that was about to fall off.

Cons: Every time I have used them they come up with some dubious charges. This time it was for a tyre cut which was very dodgy. Won't use them again.

Cons: The unprofessionalism of the member of the staff behind the desk when we politely declined the higher level of insurance. It was our risk, not hers. Her face was disgusted and I think this was extremely unprofessional and poor customer service but otherwise I have no fault with renting from this company.

Pros: Quick check in as quiet time of year. Very little paperwork, all email to you.

Cons: Alot of scratches /marks around the car so makes you a little paranoia incase u missed 1 and get charged for it.

Pros: CAR with lots of scratches and Damage All over, trying to let us pay for a laffer model

Voor de hoofdprijs,toen naar airauto gelopen en daar een keurig nette auto gehuurd. Jammer van het betaalde geld,maar het is niet anders

Cons: was pushed hard to pay more at pick off to get full coverage, car was in a bad shape, but I cannot expect more for a rate of 40 EUR. Have not yet received bill for given deposit.

Cons: Complaint: Absolutely abysmal service. Goldcar charged for a ‘forced lock’ on drivers side of door. Damage already there when I collected to rent. I signed when collecting as the map of the car stated damage was already there. Upon return I’ve been accused of this. The woman on the help desk refused to show photo of the car prior to me collecting and refused to give time and date of picture taken, stating that was not information I am allowed to know. Goldcar have charged me for this damage.

Cons: Not the car advertised. Damage on all panels, wheels and interior but unnecessarily stressful review procedure. Huge deposit not yet returned!

Cons: pressure to buy extra insurance; also no one knew how to open the gas tank and we eventually figured it out but it took more than 30 minutes. There should be a notation that you have to push the button twice to open the fuel tank door...not intuitive! Also, very little knowledge of the plug in feature.

Pros: Rubbish company lied about insurance on website and initial rental. Didn’t collect car in end as you advisor tried charging me an extra £144 insurance on top of the insurance I have already agreed to!!!!

Cons: Nothing can’t even ring you to discuss getting a refund!!! Have reported company to trading standard and the ombudsman!!! Not happy

Cons: Extended hire by two days and had to visit office ...should have been possible by either phone or online. Also cost of extension was higher than the internet price

Cons: We paid for full insurance on the car and returned it in the same condition full of petrol. They stole half of my mother’s €350 deposit and won’t say why.

Cons: Information is not clear. Car rental agent trying to push a bigger car than the one I had already chosen. We were tired and trying to get out of airport, we don't people trying to change our minds or telling us we did it wrong in booking through a third part website.

Cons: It took nearly an hour to pick up the car due to àn inexperienced agent hard selling Goldcar services. He wanted us to cancel your insurance and take theirs at 5 times the price.

Cons: It felt like being pushed into taking additional insurance out to cover costs in the event that anything went wrong. I didnt take it, as I already paid extra through discover cars but it was quite dismissive of that insurance value

Cons: When i hired the car online i took out comp insurance, so i didnt expect to then have to take out a further insurance on arrival, also the car already had stains on the seats, i never once had any food or drink inside the car and i have now been charged for the stains, i will not be hiring through Goldstar again!

Pros: Very efficient staff during pick up and dropping off also a very competitive rental price

Cons: The extremely high 21.50 euro rental charge for the transponder , practically half the cost of the car rental .

Cons: 30 minute wait to collect. Inside windscreen needed a professional clean, difficult to drive in evening sun,otherwise immaculate. Return was very quick and straightforward. I allowed 30 mins but it took 2 minutes.

Pros: I didn't take the car as they wanted an extra £95 from me and a £2000 deposit

Cons: Tried to charge me an extra £95 then when I was walking away they dropped it to £64 they were just trying to rip me off
