Pros: I liked the ease of use. The booking and pick-up process were straightforward, and everything was well organized.

Cons: I had booked a diesel car, but I was given a petrol one instead, even though the diesel option was originally more expensive and of a higher category. That made me feel disappointed, as if I should have just chosen the cheapest option from the start. Also, when picking up the car, the agent insisted on their own insurance even though I had already purchased one through Discover Cars. When I explained this, I was told that if anything happened, I would still have to pay first. This made me feel u

Pros: Speedy efficient pickup, and car in good condition

Cons: Guerin: there is fraudulous handling of car returns, with very dubious damages Guerin tries to gouge its customers with. They tried to charge me with a scratch on the side of the tyre, claiming they need to replace it. Total bullshit. Strangely enough, within 10 minutes another return arrived with the same problem. Then they tried to claim it’s my fault cause I didn’t take pictures of the damage. For this reason, I would discourage anyone, including myself, to rent with this company.

Cons: Self service check in crashed and we had to complete it twice. Car wasn’t cleaned properly. The guy at pick up said it rained in the morning and therefore had water stains. But later I also found a tissue in one of the cup holders in the rear.

Price was higher than originally agreed, the agent said he'd correct it at final payment but didn't, I was tired and failed to notice in time. Scammer behavior.

Rate includes
Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 1476.00), Theft Protection, Airport surcharge, Third Party Liability (TPL), Vehicle registration fee, VAT (value added tax), Free modifications.
Rate excludes
Many highways in mainland Portugal are tolled using only electronic means.
All rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder that can be used for paying for all toll roads.
There is an additional charge of 2.18 EUR per day for Toll pass / E-toll device.
Personal consumption will be charged separately at the end of the rental period.
You may also be required to leave an additional deposit for tolls.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 18 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 21.

Maximum rental age is 80 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.

To rent the following vehicle category(ies): Luxury, Premium, Fullsize, Wagons, you must provide the following document(s) at pickup: return flight ticket, 2 credit cards.
In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: passport, valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, booking voucher, return flight ticket.

Deductible/excess will be charged per damage.

Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
Winter tires are not mandatory in Portugal.
Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
Business hours
In order to have service out of hours, the renter must provide the following information: Flight number.
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.
The supplier will hold the vehicle for 0 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
