Cons: When I booked online it said that cross border charges is 25€ but I got charged 35€. When I mentioned it to the agent at pick up he said it’s because taxes are on top of the 25€. When you check the invoice indeed tax is on top but then there’s also an airport service charge plus it’s tax on top When returning the car there’s no sign for Thrifty drop off making it impossible to know where to head to drop the car. The car had the sign on for oil and for maintenance which is quite scary.

Pros: Very quick to pick up. Cat in very good condition. Very easy to drop back and was checked over in a matter on minutes. Money back on credit card the next day. Very good value for money.

Cons: There was no obvious sign to find the drop off however there were guys from other hire companies that recognised the car straight away and pointed us in the right direction.

Rate includes
Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 2300.00), Theft Protection, Roadside Assistance (in the country of pick-up), Third Party Liability (TPL), Airport surcharge, Premium Location fee, Vehicle registration fee, Free modifications, State Tax.
Rate excludes
Many highways in Portugal are tolled using only electronic means.
All rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder that can be used for paying for all toll roads.
You’ll be charged a service fee of 1.85 EUR per day up to a maximum of 18.50 EUR per rental in addition to the tolls, which will be charged to your credit card after the rental period.
You may also be required to leave an additional deposit for tolls.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

Driver licenses will be accepted if issued in the following country(ies): United Kingdom, EU.
UK customers must bring their DVLA check code along with their photo ID. This check code can be obtained from the DVLA website.
Driver licenses from all other countries must be accompanied with International Driving Permit (IDP).

Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
Winter tires are not mandatory in Portugal.
Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
Business hours
The supplier will hold the vehicle for 29 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
