Avis, headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey is one of the largest car rental companies in the world. The company is part of Avis Budget Group, which in addition to owning the Budget brand also owns various other car rental companies including Maggorie in Italy, Turisprime in Portugal, and Payless.
Avis was founded in 1946 in Michigan and would expand through the US in the coming years. In the 1950s the company opened its first locations abroad. Now it operates in 165 countries and all 50 US states. This includes the popular tourist destinations of Orlando, Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; Honolulu, Hawaii; Los Angeles, California; Denver, Colorado; and Salt Lake City, Utah among many others.
As one of the largest and most well-known car rental brands, it’s no surprise that the company is highly rated by our customers in many locations. It won our 2024 Excellent Car Rental Service Award at Toronto Airport in Canada, Liberia International Airport in Costa Rica, Amman International in Jordan, and Gran Canaria Airport in the Canary Islands.
