Pros: Not much. Manager at pick up agreed to extend drop off time due to time we had to wait at pick up.

Cons: Car not ready for us on our arrival, despite us being a couple of hours later than planned due to flight delays. Car was in poor condition. Key battery was flat.

Cons: Was told a greeter would meet me at the airport arrivals. No one was there. Told by airport staff to wait at location of other rental shuttles and Avis would show up. Waited over 65 minutes in HEAT after long flight. Had to pay a taxi 85 USD to take me local AVIS company. Only to have agent who tried to upsell me on MORE INSURANCE COVERAGE after I already added approximately $30 per day to base rental rate. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN ENTIRE EXPERIENCE!

Pros: Quick, easy, and hassle free. The car I rented developed a problem during my last trip. I brought the car to Avis and they gave me a new car within 15 minutes. I’m very happy with the experience I had with Avis. In my opinion, they are the best!

Cons: There are two locations are the airport and google maps takes you to the one that is not operational. Confusing in the heavy traffic around the airport. Car was extremely low to the ground which causes problems as Mexico uses the large bumps on the road to control traffic.

Pros: I was completely ripped off by the Avis agent in Cancun Airport. My reservation was changed by the agent and I was charged extra for the time that I had originally purchased for because he changed the reservation to two days shorter than I had made the original reservation. My credit card has been charged $600 and it is also been charged $800 when it was originally $360. A complete robbery was made by the Avis agent in Cancun Airport.

Cons: A complete con job by the Avis attendant at the Cancun Airport pickup. The reservation was changed from what I had originally purchased the reservation for without my knowledge. He was speaking in Spanish and I could not understand what he was doing. My reservation and Discover Caris different than the reservation that was charged to me. I was completely ripped off by Avis.

Cons: Incredibly aggressive Avis agent refused to honor the Discover Car voucher. He insisted that I pay an additional $29 per day to rent the car. When I refused he refused to rent me the vehicle. I then walked away and called the Avis Mexican Customer Service number to complain and had them contact the supervisor at the Cancun Airport Avis Office. The supervisor honored the Discover Car voucher and I was not forced to pay the $29 per day upcharge.

Cons: Avis was not supportive of the Discovery insurance package and made it so difficult to release the car that I ended up buying local insurance as well. Truly a horrible ordeal after many hours of airline travel. I would never use a third party booking agent again.

Once at the counter, I have never had a rental process take so long. The agent was very nice but she was extremely slow. Cons: In Mexico it was a little confusing about what the rental price was and the insurance, what was a deposit and how much I would pay in the end, but I got an amazing deal in the end. I will use discovercars.com again!

Pros: Despite the discrepancy of the insurance ("full coverage" according to Discovercars but "partial coverage" according to Avis) and resulting $1000 deposit that was needed to be put down before I could receive the car, the staff took their time to explain everything. I was upset about the deposit, but the staff member who was helping me was very patient and gave me his word, which allowed me to go through with the rental.

Cons: The insurance we purchased through discover cars wasn’t recognized so we had to purchase additional insurance or pay $28k USD as a deposit. This is more of a complaint about discover cars and I will not be using you again.

Cons: The only issue I had was with the high deposit ($2800USD) as well as the daily liability insurance which ended up being more expensive than the car rental. Whatever price you see strictly for the rental, expect to pay just as much for insurance.

Cons: We had to downgrade our vehicle and were unable to get a partial refund. The car we were stuck with was very small and uncomfortable. The associate at the door was trying to sell us some sort of timeshare thing. It was an aggravating waste of our time when all we wanted to was get on the road to our hotel.

He told us AVIS had a promotion for Tulum involving breakfast and free entry to Tulum. When we arrived, we were expected to see a 90 minute presentation for vacation rentals/time share. We had not been told a word about this at the AVIS office. The manager, embarassed and apologetic, refunded us $US20. Wasted time + LIES.

Pros: The woman at the pick up center - Enny Vera, was one of the most professional and kind people that I have ever met. She went out of her way to make sure that I'll be taken care off. My flight was delayed 4 hours and my phone was stolen at the airport in Cancun and she lend me her old phone for the duration of my stay in Mexico, helped me get in touch with relatives in NY and made sure that I have a place to stay in Cancun so I wouldn't have to drive at night to my destination!

Cons: Already purchased full coverage online, they tried to sell me a more expensive package. Also, when walking out to the car an AVIS rep tried tried to convince me to attend timeshare presentation breakfast in return for a discount on the car.

Cons: I was given the valet key instead of the key fob. Since the car was on and I was told as long as I had the key the car would start I figured it was fine. I was fortunate that a valet at my resort was able to figure out how to turn the car on by putting the key in the center console which was strange, and getting locking and unlocking the car was cumbersome, and a few times iI had to be driven to my car by the valet because they couldn't turn on the car.

They charged my card $3500 US dollars and held it until I returned the car despite the fact that I already had insurance. People ignored me and had no answers about why it was taking so long and some would look right at me and wave their hand dismissing me.

Cons: The salesmen at the airport AVIS stand tried to charge us an extra price saying that due to the delay of our flight, our vehicle had already been given to someone else. This was a complete scam which we refused. Once we arrived at the AVIS location next to the airport our vehicle was waiting for us as planned. The person in charge told us that the vehicles reserved were always delivered even if they were late.

Cons: They required us to purchase additional insurance that costed 4 times more than the online price, since we already paid in advance through discover car, we had no option but to pay the extorted prices. After they gave us a small car instead of the intermediate SUV we paid for. We eventually were able to get the SUV after arguing and waiting for an hour. Never had a more miserable experience. AVIS is a good company, just not at the CANCUN location.

Cons: Couldn’t find “Discover Cars”. They are a broker. When I got to the airport, I couldn’t find them and of course, my cell data wouldn’t work in a different country. I had to rent another car from a different rental company. Was charged full rate although I never received a car.

Cons: pick up was long, they didn't give me the car for almost 1.30h after the scheduled time, claiming it's not ready yet at the same time trying upsell their services to me for almost an hour. tried to lock 35000$ usd on my credit card "by mistake" so that I chose out of the optional insurance plans with less security deposit requirements.

Cons: I paid extra for the vehicle because it was advertised as "in terminal". The rental station is outside the terminal however. There was not even a rep at the desk to guide us to the Avis station, so we spent close to an hour wondering around trying looking for them (with two crying toddlers).

Cons: Misleading on website, there is no desk agent, have to take a shuttle like all the other rental places. Left me waiting for 45 minutes at curb.
