Drive on Holidays at Porto Airport

Pros: Excellent experience with Movida Rent a Car / Drive on Holidays near Porto Airport. I used their service for almost three months while my own car was being repaired, and I was very happy the whole time. I rented both electric and regular cars, and they were always in great condition with good availability. The team is professional, friendly and easy to deal with. The whole process was always smooth, and the prices were fair. Highly recommended. Very satisfied.

Cons: Many scratches and we had to take pictures because we were not provided a form with all of them highlighted, tires were flattish and not in great conditions, most importantly the full coverage I signed and paid for was not recognised by the Movida rental company and this was not clear since the beginning causing problems with card deposit not to double up costs

Cons: There were no Discover Cars agents at the Porto airport. I was informed by other rental car agencies to look for someone with a Movida sign - that was a bad omen!

Cons: I requested a petrol car and was not given it, instead, the man who checked in after me was given it. Then I was recommended to use the MiiO app to charge my electric car. The app malfunctioned in Braga and I was unable to charge the car. Thankfully, a very kind Portuguese man used his own money to charge my vehicle so I could drive it back to Porto airport. I understand that the MiiO app is a separate company, but leaving customers stranded without a back up option is unacceptable and not safe.

Cons: We booked for a Peugeot 208 and we ended up with a bad Nissan electric blue. The car had an issue with the transmision on the highway. Stressful and not what you expect on vacation. We tell the agents when we returned the car and they didn’t care much. So the next client will experience the same thing.

You need to take a ticket but there was no signs saying a ticket was needed so we stayed in line for a long time without the ticket when we noticed people going and taking a ticket. We then got our ticket but for international people that are not used to this system signs should be put in a visible place to avoid this.

Cons: Comme nous avions pris une assurance totale via le site discovercars, l'agent Movida n'a pas fait le tour du véhicule avec nous car elle nous a dit que s'il y avait quelque chose Movida prendrait sur la caution de 2100€ et nous serions remboursés par l'assurance discovercars. Et la voiture avait des coups sur la carrosserie au checkin qui n'étaient pas notés sur le document de prise en charge. Heureusement, nous avions pris des photos pour ne pas être potentiellement facturés de ces coups.

Pros: Car was clean and drove well.

Cons: We had a terrible time finding the car rental return place. Using WAZE we entered “Drive On Holidays” and it took us to the HQ on Alameda dos Oceanos. We frantically searched for car rental at Lisboa airport to make it on time. Wish we could have picked up car in Porto Centro district versus having to to take Bolt all the way to Porto airport and then drive back through Porto to head south.

Pros: Very straight forward and quick service

Cons: Only problem was with the toll device. They changed our car at the last minute and wasn’t until we were well into our journey when we realised we had not toll device. We found it on the floor of the car and we had already passed through the toll gates so we will have to pay at a later date, I hope there won’t be a problem the girl assured us there won’t be. Apart from that everything was fine .

Pros: Easy to find, clean, efficient, car in very good condition. Liked the android auto option.

Cons: The only thing I didn't like was at the pickup time I asked for no conversion when paying with my us credit Card, since I have no foreign fees. The conversion cost me 4% of the total. The staff should be trained little better.

Cons: The time spent at pickup was too long. Over 1.5 hours waiting from the time of the meeting point to driving away in the rental car. They should have more people working during peak season.

Pros: Car rental agents were realy helpfull, polite and patient.

Cons: We couldn't manage to get a drop of deposit ammount without getting increased car rental cost.

Pros: It's was efficient but when I said about having booked a hybrid car I was told its not. However it was but it didn't have a charging cable for the car so couldn't use the car as it should be on electric and unleaded fuel.

Cons: We could have been shown how to use the cars controls and had the sat nav changed to English but we had to ask another member of the team.

Cons: Because it was a new car and a hybrid they wanted me to take the vehicle with an empty tank and to hand it back with an empty tank ..... how do you do that? They then said they would fill the vehicle for me - so all sorted out in the end.

Pros: With a cancelled flight and rescheduled they moved my booking two days shorter at very last minute for no extra charge (actually charged for the shorter period). Car was virtually new, clean, and as ordered.

Cons: Careful and prompt service. Good cars with both checkout and check-in running smoothly. They emphasize must use a credit card as do virtually every car rental company and refunded the reserve immediately on return of car. Pickup at airport and delivery back very good. Return of car to site with coach back to airport excellent.

Pros: Basically a new car… perfect.

Cons: The INS process is confusing when reserving the rental. In retrospect I would have avoided a 3rd party INS company and used only the agency. This could be improved.

Cons: They seem to have a bit more paper involved than US car rental companies (both printing out and making xerox copies as they process you), but it's not too bad.
