Pros: The service attendance were knowledgable and friendly. The collection from the airport was efficient once contact was made.

Cons: There was no representative at the airport. The meeting point was not clear enough as we’d not been to the airport before. The agent sold us insurance but I was left feeling ripped off as the insurance already purchased at the web site was explained to be no fit for purpose.

Pros: We were nervous about using an unknown company but they offered good value and an out-of-hours service for us landing in Porto at 10pm so we e-mailed them and they responded swiftly and encouragingly. So we booked - and they were superb. New vehicle, very efficient in collecting us from the terminal and lovely, helpful people (only three of them, I think, and we met two and they could not have been nicer and more friendly).

Cons: Location not easiest to find on return - but we found it after ten minutes drtiving aroudf in circles, so not a major problem.

Pros: The car was so so dirty When we picked up the car at Porto it was not ready we saw it being washed on the outside. The fabric of the seats were stained, the car was dirty on the inside and appeared not to have been vacuumed

Pros: The representatives were polite and efficient. Once issue of pick up was resolved (see below) collecting and returning the car was a smooth process.

Cons: I was waiting for an hour in the airport as it was not obvious where to meet the representative. The Discover cars instructions were incorrect which did not help. It turned out I was supposed to call them when I arrived and they would come and pick me up but this was not clear from Discover Cars instructions.

Cons: That I had to pay more extra fees for out of business hours service, because our flight was delayed plus I had to spend a lot of time searching for their physical office in the terminal. So I called them a little bit after 18:00. They could hire more employees and shift between them instead of exhausting them and making them work extra hours

Cons: Incredibly slow, even though there was no queue it took one hour to check the car out. Nobody there to meet us to collect the car when returning, despite agreeing a time, so we almost missed flight. We were not shown the car beforehand so unaware if any existing damage. Charged almost £400 for scratches on tyre which we think was already there. Even if it wasn't, a tyre costs about £30 to replace so we are completely appalled at being charged more than 10 times this price.

Cons: We rented a car with a light in the panel indicating that there was something wrong with the engine. They mentioned that the car was fine and we almost had an accident as the engine stopped in the middle of the highway. They change the car but they refuse to pay the 50 EUR on gas that we put in the first vehicle. Also the 378 EUR that they took for the toll payment system has not been returned and they do not answer emails. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Rental Conditions

Rate includes
Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 1700.00), Theft Protection, Roadside Assistance (in the country of pick-up), Third Party Liability (TPL), Airport surcharge, Road tax, VAT (value added tax), Free modifications.
Rate excludes
Many highways in mainland Portugal are tolled using only electronic means.
All rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder that can be used for paying for all toll roads.
You’ll be charged a service fee of 2.20 EUR per day up to a maximum of 22.00 EUR per rental in addition to the tolls, which will be charged to your credit card after the rental period.
You may also be required to leave an additional deposit for tolls.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A Young driver fee is not applied.

Maximum rental age is 80 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.

In addition to the regular driver license, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory if the driver license is written in a language other than that of the renting country and/or in characters that cannot be read in the renting country.
For driver licenses from countries not party to the International Driving Permit treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.

In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher, proof of home address (e.g. Utility bill).
Deposit and deductible policy



When rental period exceeding 28 days, the deposit will be charged at the beginning of the rental.

If the customer takes the following extra equipment: Toll pass / E-toll device, then an additional amount of deposit will be held on their credit card.
Cross-border policy
Crossing country borders is allowed to the following country: Spain-Mainland.
Information on the exact fee amount is available by request.
Details are available from the car rental company's reservation office.
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age), Toll pass / E-toll device, Cross border fee.
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.

The customer must leave a 200-600 EUR deposit for taking Toll pass / E-toll device, which will be charged to their credit card and reimbursed upon expiry of the contract provided the Toll pass / E-toll device is returned in the same condition as upon renting it out.

Delivery/Collection service is available only by previous request. Additional charges will be applied.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a certain amount of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
An administrative fee of 20-80 EUR will be charged for each request received from the traffic police.

Winter tires are not mandatory in Portugal.
Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
Rental period
The maximum rental period is without limitations.
Business hours
The supplier will hold the vehicle for 1 hour after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
