SIXT at Porto Airport

Pros: I was misled by SIXT, they offered insurance which I declined as I had my own. They told me then excess would be 3,000 euros which was fine. Got home and have charged insurance cover. I have raised a dispute but they will resolve. Terrible company

Cons: As above, they should be taken off your site.

Cons: Very pushy with regards to buying fully comprehensive insurance at the airport desk. Not the size of car requested for 4 adults and luggage, had to fold down a rear seat to fit all suitcases

Cons: I paid for an SUV or similar vehicle due to the fact I was travelling to an area where some off road driving was required. I was told there aren’t any, and was given a hatchback instead. No explanation, no reduction in price just tough that’s what you get. I expect to get what I paid for. Or at least something similar

Pros: Der Kindersitz war nicht mehr Zeitgemäss und Sicherhetstechnisch mangelhaft. Die geselschaft hat sich auf die explizite Anweisung, dass wir keine versicherung benötigen trotzdem eine auf der Rechnung.

Cons: Car booked with Sat Nav not available. Confusion amongst Sixt staff at Porto Airport. Eventually got a car with Sat Nav - which then failed after 4 days of the rental.

Pros: It was easy to find sixt counter and fast in getting car.

Cons: Discover Cars insurance is not covering real. In case of an accident, we would have to pay all. It was told us that SIXT provides full coverage insurance is separated. So what is the point to buy 2 insurances? You should make this process one and easy. Give customers trust. There was no point to buy insurance from Discover Car. I was disappointed about this.

Cons: expensive... feels like by using "middle man" services/companies offering lower prices such as discovercars, they get more work and then making money of the mistakes these other agencies do...

Cons: Waiting time. 2 people without reservations were served first rather than me, who had reservation. And both came after me to Sixt's branch in Porto Airport (Portugal). Sixt must change protocol at Porto Airport branch. It's ridiculous.

Cons: Told we had Ford puma he even pointed to it in the holding area confirmed the from and to hire dates I said happy it is not a VW I work for them and drive them all the time, nice to drive something different, he took my licence, passport and credit card numbers, tried desperately to sell full cover insurance only giving up when I showed him my paperwork, reaching for iPad to sign the agreement he stops and says oh you have a Volkswagen?? Why I asked seem the "contract" on the Puma was over lies

Cons: We double paid the insurance, apparently because dicovercar partnership insurance does not really cover so we had to take the sixt insurance

Cons: Lack of vehicle choice in the category booked, no upgrade suggested (even against extra payment). Very unhappy to have to pay for the eToll service 9 days when I only used it one single day. This will make me think of choosing another car rental provider next time

Pros: The gentleman at the airport desk was very nice and offered us a good deal related to refueling policy.

Cons: The gentleman who handed the car to us in Porto told us, that he is noting all damages on the car in his app. He told us that we can take pictures and it will all serve as proof that we are not responsible for damages done BEFORE we picked up the car. When we returned the car at our destination, the gentleman in the car return spot told us that he must note scratches that were there already in Porto. So someone must have lied to us. Gentleman in Lisbon was also very rude and yelled at us.

Cons: gave me a car that was dirty forced me to buy insurance then when dropping the car off they claimed i broke a trunk cover that was already like that when i received the car

Cons: The car unlock lock button was broken so it was minor inconvenience when needed.

Cons: Adding on one day additional to our contract was almost 1/3 the cost of our initial rental for 12 days.

Pros: NOTHING! I would not go to SIXT again.

Cons: They were not at all helpful! The car that was reserved was a manual and we requested an automatic. The only car they had for us was not big enough and they did nothing to help us! We had to drive with luggage squeezed between the driver and passenger seats.

Cons: think the car that I got was not really comparable to the one I booked. By the way, the car I booked was present multiple time on the car rental parking. Disappointing.

Cons: Waited in line over an hour to pick up the car. It was a brutally long wait and very inefficient considering how simple it is at other companies.

Cons: There were additional charges on my final invoice. I was thankful I took pictures; otherwise I would have been subject to additional charges. The customer reps provided misleading information which was fundamental to the rental of the vehicle and caused me various issues and expense.

Cons: The website to get a car ready is not very clear to me. I booked a car and the security deposit should be 800 euro. when I order the car and closed the applicationform, the security deposit was 2.500 euro. I still do not understand the reason why.

Cons: The pick up time was more than one hour for no reasons. Agents spend sooo much time at the rental desk explaining the various upselling options to customers that everyone has to wait for an unreasonable time. Also, opening hours should match the opening hours of the airport/flight arrivals. We had to spend an extra night at the airport only because our flight arrived late in the evening too close to the closing time of the Sixt office.

Cons: She was trained to upsell and offer a “special deal”. 70 euros extra for a diesel automatic. That doesn’t seem so special! A special deal would have been a diesel automatic for free or a diesel manual for 10. Maybe. I didn’t see what was so special about the deal! But she was still good.

Cons: The manager eagerly offered another more expensive car and additional expensive services in Porto. very difficult to find the place of drop off the car in Lisbon airport. Necessary to put a big coloured label outside garage

Pros: I liked one thing more than everything else, even I screw up my pickup date, they provided me a car, and as an apology from sixt we even got bigger and better car as we waited around 45 min to pickup the car.

Cons: I think rule 25 age is stupid, and not just in sixt in every other car rental company. I think its not fair that you rate drivers by their age, some ppl are better drivers then other no matter what age they are. I am 24 and i wasn't really happy that I had to pay 60 euros just becose I am not 25, I don't like that. I have driven the car 1700km withouth scratch, and I think your age limit should be 21 or 22, 25 is too much, its just a way to make more money.

Pros: The agent who set is up was very friendly and patient, and the car very good.

Cons: Too expensive. The shuttle bus service was slow and infrequent with no proper queue system. Some very minor damage was found on the car on return that we are not convinced was not there on collection.

Pros: La rapidité dans la transmission du véhicule, le personnel, bien mieux que la compagnie de location que j'ai eu l'année dernière qui était Drive on hollidays(catastrophe). Le véhicule ne consommait pas beaucoup en plus pour un essence.

Cons: Le reproche que j'ai a faire à Sixt est que le contrôle du véhicule n'a pas très bien fait avant de nous le donner car dès le premier jour j'ai du acheter du liquide lave-vitre, regonfler les pneus car j'ai eu un voyant qui s'est mit tellement qu'ils étaient dégonflés, un peu déçu par rapport à ça. J'ai payé également plus chère que ce qui était annoncé.

Cons: Up-selling was irritating. Condition of car was not impressive with lots of marks and scratches. Took photos of some not mentioned on documents and tried to engage with agent before leaving but he wasn't interested. On return, agent spent ages and ages examining car seemingly looking for something to charge us for. Had a debate about a mark which was supposedly new and hadn't been recorded on previous paperwork. Didn't trust the process at all though the manager, to be fair, sorted things out.

Cons: Communications between agents at pick-up & drop-off can be improved.
