Opcao Rent a Car at Porto Airport

Cons: Opcao listed hours seven days a week. We booked a car with a Sunday drop off. Upon pick-up we was told that they were closed on Sunday and we should drop off the car at a parking lot next door. The 24-hour parking had no sign outside was also closed when we arrived and we had to call and wait for someone to arrive.

Pros: Car was in good shape

Cons: There was a mandatory additional charge. If the car cannot be rented without this additional fee, then it should be listed as part of the cost to rent the car. What they do is false advertising/fraud. This reflects poorly on Discover Cars.

Pros: The staff were friendly and efficient during the rental pickup and return processes.

Cons: The wiper fluid in the car was empty when I picked it up and the gas tank was not full.

Pros: They gave me a car with no power windows on the rear passengers. I drove 2000 km with the service light on, the car made weird sounds. I picked up the car about 2 o’clock afternoon and drop off at 8:30 in the morning and they charge me $50 for out of service hours. On the drop off nobody checked the car for damage, they just took the key and now they are charging me for a stain on the passenger arm rest, and a scratch on the wheel cover.

Pros: No hasle pick up and return :

Pros: I received great service from this rental car office close to the Porto airport. The fiat 500 was a fun small car to drive in the narrow streets of portugal.

Cons: The only negative was that no one ever picked up the phone at the emergency centre. Luckily I had no issues with the car.

Cons: Very rude woman who picked me up at the airport and handed me over the car. Warning signal was on for air pressure in the tires. Empty-empty policy regarding the fuel.

Cons: We’re determined to charge for damage even using the phrase “ if you argue I can look at the car again and find more damage”.

Cons: Due to air trafic jam, we arrived with 2H45 later at the airport. No boy from Opcao at the airport! Alter call only somebody from VALPIRENT came?? Who is he ? Due to the late arrival we must pay 40€ or cancel the réservation! The only way to get the car : pay! (at 18H30) The woman from ALPIRENT ( the only one who speaks french ) was very unpleasant. Dont rent with these compagnies.

Cons: Je n'ai pas eu la voiture que j'avais demandé, ils m'ont proposé une automatique, mais ça ne me convenait pas et la seule non automatique possible était une diesel et avec le réservoir quasi en réserve. Pas top! Enfin je pense que tout à été mis en œuvre pour que je paye le supplément de 40€ pour dépassement d'horaire. Pas commercial du tout comme attitude.

Pros: Valpirent were quick to pick us up at the airport and take us to the car collection location. We didn't have to wait long before we were on the road with the car. Service at the Valpirent office was friendly and helpful.

Pros: We were left stranded at Porto airport with 2 toddlers and all we received from the customer service helpline was ‘YOULL have to open a claim and there is nothing more we can do as we are just a broker’

Cons: the rental agency was a mess --- the car they gave us was NOT the one on the contract, which means that the car we had had never been registered (to our name), was never checked etc and when the car was returned there was no-one to collect it and verify that everything was ok. I have made videos upon taking and returning the car to avoid any "surprise" fees. Terrible rental agency

Cons: NO CAR WAS PROVIDED DUE TO AIRPLANE DELAYS FOR LANDING, NO NEGOTIATION ON PROVIDING AN ALTERNATE VEHICLE WITH THE ORIGINAL QUOTE I MADE ONLINE. WAS TOLD IT WAS GOING TO BE 2.5x MORE THAN ORIGINAL QUOTE

Pros: Good value, brand new car

Cons: Collecting the car was badly organised, and the rental company is difficult to contact. It is actually called Valpi Rent, not Opcao. They didn't meet me at the airport at the appointed time. I had to call four times, twice they didn't pick up the phone. Then it took about 25 minutes for the guy to turn up, and he still didn't come to the meeting point. So I had to wander around the airport looking for a guy whose shirt didn't even have the matching company name on it.

Pros: NOTHING. The service was provided by Valpirent which is not according to the contract I had sent to me. The service was very poor. Not only did we spend over 2 hours renting the car, but he kept adding costs to the rental which were directly contrasting the contract with Discover cars. Namely - The insurance. We already paid for full cover insurance with Discover cars and we were forced to buy more. We also had to pay for costs for travelling into Spain. The price was extremely expensive.

Cons: The petrol tank was empty and we were told to bring it back empty. This was in spite of the fact that it clearly states the tank should be full in the Discover cars contract. We returned the car with half a tank of petrol and we were not reimbursed. This company is a scam company and I would like to know how to get my money back for the petrol and the extra costs. This is unacceptable.

Cons: Several wee,s after return I am still waiting for the refund after tolls are deducted. I have hired cars many times in Portugal and this is the first time its been compulsory to pay for the toll card. I paid with a euro credit card but the company converted it to GBP using their own substandard rate without telling me. My card company is dealing with both these issues.

Cons: Unfair/hidden fee + payment instead of authorization of €2200 in case of damage to the vehicle. Long wait. Agents argue they have no autonomy & manager is unavailable (lol). No email proof for drop off.

Cons: I have used the site in the past it was fine recently our flight was delayed we try to contact them unable to contact and we were left without a car I contacted your company directly we were told it was cancelled and there’s nothing they could doFor this reason will never use the site again

Cons: I don't like the fact if you drop the car off hours, you have to pay $40.00 for that. They were never clear in terms of how much I would pay in case I drop the car off hour.
