Cons: Very poor service by (Hertz which is the agent of Thrifty). I paid a premium price for an electric Tesla Model 3 or close equivalent. When I arrived they told me the Tesla was dirty and even though I didn’t mind they wouldn’t give it to me. The alternative was a large electric SUV which for a solo driver staying in central Porto was not appropriate. In the end I took a small Nissan because it was already midnight. The car itself had multiple dents and damages, so a poor car for a prem price

Many highways in Portugal are tolled using only electronic means.
All rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder that can be used for paying for all toll roads.
You’ll be charged a service fee of 1.85 EUR per day up to a maximum of 18.50 EUR per rental in addition to the tolls, which will be charged to your credit card after the rental period.
You may also be required to leave an additional deposit for tolls.
