Cons: When returning the rented car #42254, I noticed that the amount of 1500 EUR was not only reserved as a deposit in my account, but was completely deducted. In this case, the bank charged me a 4% currency transfer fee = 60 EUR and when returning it, they will charge me a second 4% fee. So the total fee is 120 EUR. The rental company employee Joao Pita advised me to write an email asking the bank to cancel the 2x 4% transfer fee charged for the 1500 EUR deposit. But the technical support employee

Cons: I entered into an agreement for a one-week car rental. Regrettably, I failed to conduct due diligence prior to payment, and subsequently learned that the company implements a fraudulent policy. This policy entails the imposition of a €1500 credit card charge, purportedly a deposit, which is effectively irrecoverable. In light of the significant financial risk, i choose not to forward with the rental. Its a scam!

Not having any type of dissatisfaction with Discovery Cars, I hereby come to speak out and express my total disgust with the Magic Islands employee (Alex) who attacked, mistreated and humiliated us.  Until the momen I have not yet received the refund of the deposit I made on December 15, 2023.

As I did not feel comfortable with automatic transmission, they exchanged the car for one with manual transmission next day. Their phone line worked and the employees spoke well English. The employees could be trusted. Their price was slightly lower than the one offered by competitors.

They told us to sit and wait on a bench and they'd be with us shortly. An hour later we went to find them again. They said they'd forgotten us but could give us someone else's car. Young lads with a 'don't care' attitude. They took the full deposit (not just held) and we had to ring them 3 weeks later to get it back.

Pros: The only thing that was without complications was the drop-off of the car.

Cons: We almost did not get the car, as they told us to wait for 20 minutes, than didn't show up. After an hour and a half of waiting on the spot they told us to be at, we stumbled upon them by chance on the parking, then had to wait for another hour or more to actually get the car, since they had problems with other costumers and had to solve them first. So overall, we waited for 3 hours to get the car, and the employees were very rude and not at all sorry for the inconveniece.

Cons: No clear system for car pickup. Had to ask random people on a parking lot if they worked for Magic island. Once I found the person, they angrily told me I had to wait but didn’t indicate where. Took forever for my turn in “line” - also unclear which customers were actually next since there was no real line. It even took longer to leave the parking lot because the card they gave me has expired and it took the guy another 10 minutes to pay the parking fee that would allow the car to leave.

Cons: The only issue is that since Magic Islands is a smaller operation, they are not located at the area with the other rental companies and to determine their location of the pick up / drop off was not easy despite this information being mentioned on our booking. Once found, great job, but have a sign or representative located in rental car area in the airport to guide customers to their location.

Cons: The guy at pick up were a lot nice from the guys at drop off, so just beware, that they will go all around the car and find something. You absolutely have to take photos and videos of the car right at pick up, because if the guys at pickup don't mark the scratched and you have no photos/videos of the car from before you got it, they will make you pay for the damages. Take good photos, I would recommend from above and bellow each side of the car. Plus, we made a video as well.

Cons: Some instruments did not light up from the first day. Car died in the middle of the road on the third day. Almost lost control because automatic steering froze. Took over 2 hours for them to send a tow truck. Initially asked me to try and restart the battery which is ridiculous. Had to go all the way back to the airport to pick a new car wasting another 2 hours. Initially they wanted me to pay for the taxi to pick up the new car. Overall a bad experience, would not recommend at all.

Cons: Company is a scam. Their location on Google Maps is no where near the actual office, not even a 5 km radius. There are no signs at all around the airport to indicate where the office is and there are no pick up instructions on the rental voucher! Funny thing is, if you check Google Reviews you’ll find that countless people have the same experience. Never ever again am I using this website.

They said they didn’t even have us on their list. Finally figured it out. I tried emailing them a bunch and had my Airbnb host even call them to let them know our flight was delayed. They didn’t just put a hold on the card. They actually took the full $1500 deposit. They are not responsive they don’t answer on WhatsApp.

Cons: At the first rent I ask about the refund on CC, at the pickup & on drop off; it should be "immediate" after return the said. When I get the second car I haven't the refund done (3 business days later). So I had to choose, loose the rent and the payment or update to the full insurance without fund on CC. The charged 50 €/day for full cover, the cost of the rent was 40€/day; total 90 €/day for small car(as Fiat Panda). It wasn't write on the contract and it is UNFAIR, no mediation from both rents!

I'm really recommending Magic Islands Rent A Car because my credit card didn't work and I was able to use the debit card for the deposit. The holding deposit was returned back to my account without any charges. The staff was amazing too.

Pros: I was using the new car, the mileage of the car when I picked up was only 650km.

Cons: The rental company charged (not blocked) a deposit of 1500 euros from my debit card, which I can understand because the car was new and rented for 11 days, but I returned the car without any damage on August 13 at 2PM and today is 2PM on August 17th and I still haven't received my deposit back - this is a strange form of business for this rental company, I don't know why they are using my money when we are no longer bound by any contract.
