7M Rent A Car at Madeira Funchal Airport

Pros: No one was waiting for me at the time I gave them. I had to call and wait a whole hour for someone to pick us up from the airport.

Cons: Car was at 26t km beat up from every side and not just minor stuff. The tires where so wornout that it was dangerous to drive. Car was dirty when picked up. They try to give us a small crossover vs a fullsize SUV first and tried to convice us it is the same size car. Mitsubishi Eclipse vs ASX

Pros: The airport pickup was quick and easy with the driver answering his phone however:.. he was very rude (see below). The car was clean and good value for money but did have some issues. The drop off was slick but again poor customer service.

Cons: The agent was rude. It was not “meet and greet” it was a shuttle service to an offsite lot where we spend over an hour waiting for the car. It was not ready nor was the paperwork. The agent was not helpful and kept us waiting with no update. The car was damaged outside and we didn’t discover until driving it that the brakes were poor (squeaked and jammed) and we had to add air to the tyres almost immediately. The car was also handed over virtually empty with fuel.

Pros: It wasn’t made clear that if our flight was delayed we had to phone 7M to alert them to the fact! We arrived late due to a Ryanair flight delay to find that our car had been allocated to someone else! Our accommodation had been booked away from public transport because we were hiring a car, so we were totally stranded, and had to rely on taxis, and had to book an island tour to get to scenic areas that we would otherwise have driven to. Altogether a very stressful experience.

Cons: Nothing was ok: at the pick up from airport the driver was driving very fast; at the car pick up it was dark, but the car was different category than we paid for (Fiat Tipo STW or similar category and we got Kia Rio), that was unacceptable, there was no space for our luggage (4 people x 2 pieces of luggage that's why we wanted STW and not small Kia Rio), we had to take the luggage inside the car and despite that it was hard to sit there; we had problem with brakes

Cons: They thought I scratched the car ( on the car there was a lot of demage), even though I didn't. During the pickup, it was night and the car's saturation was not clearly visible. Despite everything, the guy from the rental company forgave me and didn't charge me any additional costs.

Cons: The office was moved within one week and when we arrived to drop off the car at the airport, the office no longer existed, they have moved it nearby the airport but not at the airport. We had to call in to figure out where to go. No communication was pushed to us during our stay. In the end, no big deal, the agent sent us the address with WhatsApp and made our way there.

Pros: This has been our best experience renting any car out of all of our travels, a genuinely easy process, no unnecessary hassle we experienced at other car rentals, very responsive and are available 24/7, although we had to change the first car for personal reasons, they did not fail to provide a second car, in fact they did it on the spot. Staff were lovely and always had a smile. Although it’s a less known car rental company, I would recommend them over any other more known company.

Pros: The owner/main person at the pick -up place was very nice and customer orientated. The car was cheap and had all the basic features, including the very important one for Madeira roads - hill assist (car would hold the break for a few seconds when starting inclined)

Cons: There was a company representative that was very rude and abrupt with clients. Including telling some of them that if they being the car 1-2 hours earlier they would get fined from their deposit!?!? Total absurdity. Maybe he was having a bad day but still, very unprofessional.

Cons: The car was a convertible that leaked. First day we picked up car, water was leaking and dripping into the car from the rain earlier in the day. Car was fine on sunny days but same thing occurred when it would rain during our trip despite us triple checking that roof was closed.

Cons: There was a huge issue: we had our booking and we paid an extra amount to pick up the car at 00.30, but when they saw we didn't show up due to a timing issue, they didn't even bothered calling to check if we had some problems getting there to pick up our car and canceled our booking, and left us waiting for 30 minutes at midnight at the airport, just to tell as, as soon as they arrived, that they didn't have our car and we should take a taxi (the airport shuttle had left already).

Pros: Pickup the car at night. Lighting in the open air car park is not the best. The next morning I noticed the right rear tire has slightly deflated compared to the other tires. As I am not using that car that day, I didn’t drive to a garage to pump it back up. That night I drove to a near by garage to put more air in that tyre. I then noticed there is some metal wedge in a groove. Could be a nail, I cannot tell. I put air in all the tyres and the machine appears cannot put enough air in that tyre.

Cons: I then called the representative and he suggested I get a repair kit or wait for a repair man next morning. As I have to go on an early trip I have to drop it off at their branch at a closer location. The tyre pressure warning lights was on, but the tyre does keep its shape and not deflating during the drive (45km). Have to wait for the substitute car. Lunch time. Substitute car was dirty, not in rental conditions and not well equipped but nothing I can do.
