Bravacar at Madeira Funchal Airport

Pros: Price (before it turned out it was only a trick)

Pros: They reacted quickly, always picked up the phone and was really friendly.

Cons: We still haven't received the locked insurance money back.

Pros: Was a complete disaster. They helped us the best they could. But not professional and nothing special. Not worth the money.

Cons: The agent didn't check condition of the car after returning and he wasn't be able to explain why Bravacar kept our money in deposite one week after car returning.

Pros: The company representative was helpful and picked me up at the hotel and took me to the rental office. Upon returning the car, he drove me back to the hotel from the rental again. The whole rental and return process was very quick and hassle free. The rental service worked very well.

Cons: The condition of the car was not the best. The seats were dirty (stains) and the air conditioning did not work.

Cons: The condition of the car was awful. It had excessively high mileage, was missing 2 hubcaps, had numerous scratches and dents. The agents insisted that my excess insurance cover provided by DiscoverCars did not cover the damage excess, only 3rd party issues despite DiscoverCars website saying that it covered everything. A warning light came up on the dash. The rental person said not to worry about it. It's only something to do with the brakes!

Pros: Cheap cars for rent, helpful office representative and very fast and convenient management of our reservation. Overall rating is very good. Cars are older than You can expect, but it was by far the cheapest option, so I wasnt bery surprised.

Cons: The office is not at Madeira Airport, but nearby. I added flight number to my reservation, but noone was there when we landed. I had to call, and we got picked up in 10 minutes, but if You are obliged to add flight number, it should be used by someone.

Cons: Agent should meet at at the airport but he was not there. We had to call and wait until he arrives from the rental office. The car had around 110 000 km and was making strange sounds that appeared to come from the front suspension. After informing the agency about it via whatsapp we got no response. Returning the car was a hassle as well. We nearly missed our flight and I'm still waiting for a 1250 eur deposit to arrive. Stressful experience. Read google reviews of this company.

Cons: Condition of the car especially given the steep climbs in Madeira. The fact the car had not been properly checked and the headlamp was broken. The wait until we were taken back to the airport as the sole staff member had to deal with another client who was hiring a car before returning us to the airport.

Pros: The service of picking up at airport and dropping at departure was quick and efficient.

Cons: The people responsible for the payment of the guarantee had taken up 2000€ of the account instead of blocking the amount. This was not ok. The fact of receiving no answer after my triple request for having a discount because the airco didn't work is unacceptable.

Cons: Car was very old and quite dangerous to drive in Madeira's mountainous roads. I've never been given a rental car that's older than 10 years before, and I feel this car was well past its lifespan and should not have been rented out. Clutch and handbrake both faulty. Very difficult to make it up the steep gradients.

Pros: They provided exactly the services they promised. The car was actually an upgrade as it had A/C when not promised.

Cons: The off airport location added extra time to the pickup and we were almost hijacked by another car renter as we tried to find Bravacar on arrival (they were a bit late). Also, the fuel policy (return basically empty) cost us 40 Euro as we left early Covid-19 and the tank was almost full. Full-Full would is my preferred method of fuel management.

Cons: Finding the location was difficult. The first car I was provided was a mess--dirty and the handle of the gear shift kept falling off. When I returned and asked for a replacement car, the agent argued with me, drove off in the first car with my husband and friend without telling me where or why, leaving me standing in an empty office. My husband said his driving during that time was terrifying. I had to insist, firmly, on a replacement and had to pay for another tank of gas. Not happy!
