Rentx Car Rental at Madeira Funchal Airport

Pros: Friendly staff, great service, would highly recommend.

Cons: It was all great.

Cons: Ordered Opel Grandland (Full size Elite SUV),got much smaller Peugeot 2008. Front tires had worn-out tread, front left tire has a puncture and air leaking. Had to inflate every day. Dirty seats and a dusty interior.

Pros: pick-up and drop off very simple and quick.

Cons: I reserved the T-CROSS model and I had the model, supposedly equivalent, Kia Stonic. When I order the VW brand I know that I will have a certain quality, Apple carplay, seat firm, soundproofing, high-quality gearbox etc., What I get is NOT an equivalent ; no Apple CarPlay available/not accessible, super-soft seats, approximate gearbox, noisy... I don't have any other choice between this and an other... In addition there were a lot of scratch on the bodywork.

Pros: Good contact, transport etc.

Cons: Car was inappropriate for Madeira's roads totally

Pros: Very professional pickup and drop off service and checkin/checkout.

Cons: Nothing to note.

Pros: I liked everything. East going and friendly.

Cons: None

Pros: Excellent service and flexible people. I totally recommend.

Pros: The staff was helpful, clear and friendly. They mentioned options, but didn't push selling anything extra, even though I didn't purchase their full insurance. I rented two cars: a brand-new Mercedes 7-seater and a second Citroen C3, which was scratched and somewhat worn, but all the damage was listed in the contract, with no attempts to hide or manipulate it. Everything was quick and straightforward, with no

Pros: No messing with checking for damage or hidden costs

Cons: Car was older than most, 92k on the clock

Pros: Car was spotless, easy to call agent when arrived and arrange transfer. Checked in online so was very quick at desk

Pros: We came in 3 days late due to weather and they saved our reservation. Our WhatsApp conversations with Helena kept us at ease while we navigated getting to the island. They picked us up very quickly from the airport.

Cons: The switched our cars from a Nissan Juke with turbo to a Citroen and an Kia and called it comparable.

Pros: Miła obsługa, wszystko jasno wyjaśnione. Wszystkie poprzednie szkody uwzględnione na zdjęciach w umowie.

Cons: Dostaliśmy samochód z przebiegiem 90000 km, sporo... Zapach starej skarpety wewnątrz.

Pros: Rapporto qualità prezzo

Pros: The best customer service and kindness I’ve ever experienced when renting a car!

Pros: Hassle-free replacement of a malfunctioning car with another one

Pros: Speed, fair, asked to take my own pictures

Cons: The car was a Citroen, which had problem connnecting an android auto without which there was no navigation.

Pros: Actually, everything has gone well.. The service was easy to contact when the check engine light kept coming on, and also when the oil light was on. I did have to put in windshield washer fluid as it was totally empty,

Cons: I was warned about over charging for incidentals, and when picking up the car, was given a pdf indicating at least 20 small dings like rock chip, or door dings etc. (the car had 75,000 kms on it - so I expect dings). When I asked about them all, I was told that the past drivers had been charged for each one... but obviously they hadn't been fixed - so why were they charged? It just seemed unscrupulous.

Pros: The agent where fantastic, we had an exceptionnal service, the car was almost brand new (7,000 km) - no fuss upon drop-off!

Pros: Nice, fast and friendly service. Seems to be trustable, e.g. you get a detailed report with all the existing damages by email.

Cons: Its not directly at the airport

Pros: Miła obsługa, profesjonalne przyjęcie i przejrzyste zasady wynajmu

Cons: Odbiór gratis z lotniska jedynie do godziny 19:00

Pros: Everything is great, it went according to plan, I quickly took the car clean.

Cons: I don't know what to say, the services are very good I have nothing bad to say.

Pros: Easy to rent. Good communication. Good service

Cons: -

Pros: Amazing price. Good service with the transfer from the airport to Machico. Car was as expected.

Cons: No possible booking change when the checkin date approaches, as no more car available (I would only have wanted to shorten the booking). Front tyres a bit used.

Pros: Did not use it since we couldn't land due weather and then the trip got cancelled. So value for money is 0/10, can't really give a rating on everything else.

Cons: Did not use it since we couldn't land due weather and then the trip got cancelled. So value for money is 0/10, can't really give a rating on everything else.

Pros: really great

Cons: nothing it was really great

Pros: They were friendly and everything was straightforward!

Pros: Absolutely love rentx in Madeira. Marco was absolutely amazing and so patient with us and rearranged our car pick up to another branch. Would come again to them for car rental in Madeira. They do not disappoint

Pros: Very speedy and reliabgle service

Pros: Absolutely everything! Next time we'll rent a car exclusively from them.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Roadside assistance.

Cons: Long waiting time at the airport, no clear logo on pick up van, no information inside the airport where to go, guy with personal issue when returnining car, he found the scratch on the car and we said, you took a photo of this car when we were collecting the car, he started screaming and said it wasn’t him who took the photo. He didn’t calm down and repeated this 3 more times. I told him to relax, life is too short for those reactions. Man, it wasn’t that cen personal, you is plural.

Pros: No BS. All good. Very easy Pick up and drop off. Friendly staff.

Pros: Everyone was very friendly and efficient at their job. Pick up and drop off was super easy! They provide a free shuttle to and from airport. Pricing was reasonable! And most importantly insurance was fully covered through rentx as well as we did not need to put down security deposit! They had the car ready when we got there. Car was in great condition! And Brakes worked great because we definitely used that a lot all around the island going up steep hills and cliffs! We highly recommend rentx!

Cons: None

Pros: Everything was perfectly arranged and very correct

Cons: Nothing

Pros: I absolutely recommend RentX. They communicated clearly and swiftly, were very helpful and fast with pick-up and drop-off. We paid for coverage with zero deposit and they held up to everything exactly as agreed when booked via DiscoverCars. Our car was Mini Convertible and we were very happy with it. It was in flawless condition and I would say it's great choice for Madeira's narrow, twisty and steep roads and beautiful sceneries. Textile roof kept us dry even in most violent rains and storms.

Pros: No hard sells for extra like car excess. Very professional people

Pros: Friendly and efficient service, airport pick-up on arrival and drop off on departure which was great. Car went smoothly and any issues with the car was covered prior to handing over the car.

Cons: Everything was great at RentX, no complaints

Pros: Fast and reliable.

Pros: I really appreciate the fast car pickup and the flexibility to collect the car almost at 10 PM, which is definitely not standard. Thank you!

Pros: Car was exactly what we ordered. And RentX was a good company to deal with.

Cons: Insurance is an issue. When purchasing insurance through Discover cars, you are dealing with a third party. Not the same ease of mind of insurance with the actual rental company. It would be helpful to be able to compare pricing between the actual rental company and Discover cars.

Pros: Efficiency of collecting and returning the car

Pros: Just kind people

Cons: To much paying for out of officererne for drop of pickup at station

Pros: Very quick in and out.

Cons: The shuttle driver didn't lift a single suitcase to load/unload. This should not be left for the customer to do. Poor service on his part.

Pros: Nice car, comfortable and good prepared!

Cons: I had little problem with automatic gear during uphill driving.

Pros: The speed and comunnication

Cons: The car was not in the best condition.

Pros: All prepared beforehand, drive from Airport to their office - quick and without issue. Pickup process was clear and understandable.

Pros: Speed and professionalism

Pros: Agente helpfullness.

Cons: Nothing relevant to Record.

Pros: L'accueil et le service rapide

Cons: Rien

Pros: You provided - without telling the customer in advance - an underpowered car in the most hilly island. 75 hp Oppel Corsa. There were some roads where that car simply could not go up - not even in the first gear!! And please don't justify it by saying I can't drive manual - I have 40 years of experience driving manual cars on 3 continents. That car would have been fine in Holland or Belgium but not on Madeira!

Cons: When I told your colleague that the car was underpowered he dismissed rudely my valid complaint suggesting I cannot drive manual.

Pros: Everything was good...

Cons: Everything was good...

Pros: I had a great experience with this car rental company. The car was clean, new, and in excellent condition. Both the pick-up and return process were very quick and smooth. The staff were friendly, helpful, and highly professional. I can definitely recommend this company and would be happy to rent from them again.

Cons: Nothing. RentX are very professional.

Pros: Nice car for the price

Cons: Shuttle to offsite takes a bit; and they seemed to be fishing for damage a bit with the deposit.

Pros: The team was very helpful. I got offered a new car, it was clean and in neat condition.

Pros: Helena was my agent at the counter and she was so nice, friendly and very helpful for both pick up and drop off. Love her personality and wonderful service

Cons: I hate that the instruction was not super clear in term of where the pick up place until I have to call them. Luckily the agent picked up the phone fairly quick but it would have saved everyone's time and stress level if the instruction is clear when booking the car.

Pros: Friendly and efficient

Pros: Pasiūlė geresnį auto nei buvau rezervavęs

Cons: Reikalingas depozitas

Cons: Car provided was not what we booked

Pros: Friendly and professional people

Pros: Very professional service by Helena

Cons: State of the car

Pros: Friendly staff and good efficiency

Pros: The driver that picked us up at the airport was a good dude. Please have signage for easier pickup. The process was simple and didn’t differ from what I read online beforehand. Never felt uncomfortable.

Cons: The car, a dacia jogger, had two seatbelts that were falling apart. The outer casing was not on them, exposing sharp metal pieces that cut my son’s arm.

Pros: All the above points

Cons: None

Pros: Sara and Diogo were very friendly and professional. both pick-up and drop-off were quick and easy.

Pros: friendly, good communication and response times, clean vehicle

Pros: Agents were extremely friendly and helpful. Pickup was easy, drop off easy. Great car in great condition.

Cons: Nothing. This is Madeira and the staff and team are fantastic and helpful.

Pros: Not 'the best' but good

Pros: Efficient & friendly service from start to finish. Received a better car than expected & was offered a free 2nd driver upgrade which wasn’t actually required.

Cons: N/a

Pros: Quick pickup at airport. Car was prepared and ready.

Cons: Everything was ok. Just need to rember that you will have to wait a bit for other travelers before going back to airport.

Cons: I was waiting for the pick up car from airport for 40 minutes.

Pros: Quick pickup and drop-off I ordered a Peugeot 2008 I got a Jeep Renegade with faulty sensors. They said they would have a replacement in two days. Then they tried to fob me off telling me that sensors are just an extra feature. I said the car I booked had camera and sensors this car was faulty. I was responsible for damage but the car did not have a key feature working. They changed the Jeep to a Mitsubishi ASX which had both camera and working sensors. So they were good in that respect.

Cons: The Jeep was tinny with unresponsive steering compared to the Mitsubishi. They did respond and change the vehicle but I wish they had initially not tried to get out of it. I would use them again.

Pros: Service and friendliness was really good. Lots of helpful people - not like the last car hire company we used

Cons: I liked everything about their service

Pros: LOVELY STAFF who are not letting the pressures of tourism get to them. Please keep it up as makes this RentX a notch above the car rental competition

Cons: Better instructions to off-site of airport would be easy and make it a 10 out of 10. Quite a dangerous access off roundabout for the first time visit, so simple text to go to U-turn would be valuable.

Pros: RentX was super nice, the staff kind, and the procedure fast and convenient. Would do it again and recommend it to everybody coming to Madeira!

Cons: The pick-up from the Airport was super late, so we had to wait like an hour. That was a bit annoying after an already long flight/travel.

Pros: For a bit of waiting, I got hassle-free car. Easy pickup procedure, no fuss during dropoff.

Pros: Prompt service Cleanliness Easy access

Pros: The staff are always helpful and polite

Cons: The staff are always helpful but this time the car was under par the rear tyres were almost bold and the front brakes had a lot of judder as soon as I touched the brakes it would just squeal and shake

Pros: Everything was ok, just a car was a bit scratched and older that expected

Cons: Everything was ok, just a car was a bit scratched and older that expected

Pros: Very quick, friendly and proficient staff and very speedy process

Cons: Couldn't fault them - probably the best care rental company I've used!

Pros: pick up and drop off by airport

Pros: Lovely staff, clean and excellent car. Perfect for our needs.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: No surprises- normal car condition, friendly staff, fast pick-up and drop-off process

Cons: Call for shuttle bus at the airport

Pros: I liked how they are willing to help and solve issues very quickly

Cons: I think they should check the overall technical condition of their cars more carefully before passing them on to next customer, as we had to change the our car 2 times, which caused unnecessary stress and inconveniences.

Pros: Don’t get an answer about engine size by WhatsApp and also don’t reply on our call

Pros: Everything was perfect , easy , fast and efficient.

Pros: Friendly staff who were helpful during pick-up and drop-off.

Cons: Needed extra trip to machido area from airport.

Pros: the people who worked there were quite friendly

Cons: I asked for a sat nav when i booked the car - was amazed to discover that unless we had an Iphone the sat nav would not work (we dont use iphones) so we had no sat nav for the whole week we were there and were not offered a map of any kind - so getting from getting the 27km to Funchal when we arrived was a total nightmare - the guy at Rentx office tried to get our Android phones to work but it did not work so not a nice way to start a holiday and we will not be renting with this comp again

Pros: Nothing

Cons: 10 min office from airport. Add second time insurance

Pros: Smooth pick up & drop off, enough info to get going, correct prices

Cons: /

Pros: Efficient, good car, easy to coordinate

Pros: Everything worked out great. Got the car we booked and we weren't offered extra insurance.

Cons: After returning the car we didn't receive any confirmation that we had dropped off the car. Just a little print or email would've been nice.

Pros: We were not happy with the first car allocated to us but they were able to find us something more acceptable

Cons: Helpfulness

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. They provided excellent service.

Cons: Nothing. Everything was great.

Pros: Great service. Viktor got us a safe and fast return.

Pros: Service rapide et courtois. Il m’ont référé une voiture adaptée à mes besoins.

Pros: Efficient, easy to get to and from airport to the rental company

Cons: .

Pros: Overall, it was trouble-free. They tried to sell me an additional insurance, but were not too annoying with that. They provided provided a bit bigger car: Citroen C3 Aircross, instead of Seat Ibiza. I did not want to really have a bigger car, but OTOH it's better than to get a smaller car when they do not have the precise match ATM :). When dropping off the car, they did not explore it with a microscope, just did a fair check. When picking up, We had to wait for shuttle for ~20 minutes + it ...

Cons: ... took 7 minutes to drive to their garage.

Pros: Shuttle drivers and agents were proficient and professional.

Cons: I didn't realize that the RentX cars were not at the airport and that there was a shuttle involved. Car itself was just okay - it had multiple damage spots on it and needs some maintenance services - but the clerk advised that they are simply too busy to be able to repair them before the next rental.

Pros: Je recommande RentX pour leur contact client et la qualité de leurs services

Pros: I wrote above

Cons: Small disadvantage that the rent office wasn’t at the airport.

Cons: Payer une assurance supplémentaire alors que je l'avez déjà prise auparavent. En plus une voiture qui n'avez a pas de cheveau mais des bourricot voiture non adapté au pays.

Pros: They had amazing service!! We brought the car back a few hours late and they didn’t even charge us!

Pros: Friendly staff

Cons: Difficult contacting shuttle from airport if you don't have service. No address for car return (contract listed headquarters and had airport under drop off)

Pros: easy to extend rental

Cons: Took some time to get a confirmation of deposit release

Pros: We come back in the night and car must be fully filled. It was not possible at 02.30 so the agent send me to another gas station but the card payment was out of service. Agent agree

Cons: As for the car rental company: They do put a lot of trust in their customers, but this trust has to be earned. I suspect they've been through a lot of experiences over time, so they likely value reliability and responsibility.

Pros: Very hassle free, it was amazing

Pros: Free car upgrade. Cheaper than competitors. Easy pick up and drop off service. Staff was friendly and explained everything well.

Cons: Paying an extra 30€ to drop off car early when there were 3 other groups doing the same.

Cons: the car egency is 15 minutes drive from the airport be carfull - they give you the car in a dark place and you can't find all the scratches - and when you return the car theu charge you double on every tiny scratch

Cons: overcharging for any tiny scratch

Pros: Excellent

Cons: Excellent

Pros: Amazing and friendly service.

Pros: Everything was great with the car, it was a brand new one without any defects.

Pros: Professional approach.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Great price for a new car (less than 20k km). They pick u up at the airport after 5-10 mins from yr call and go to the office and at the return we took less than 10 mins to return the car and go to the airport. Good to avoid the traffic and confusion of the airport/city.

Cons: The deposit of 1000€ despite the fact I signed a full cover assurance up to 3000€

Pros: Great service, attention to detail and easy / quick transfer to rental car and back to airport - so better than being in airport.

Cons: Car was a Dacia and had been filled with wrong fuel by previous hire so a bit rough running.

Pros: All went smooth. No long lines waiting for an agents. No pushing you into purchasing additional coverage. Simple, efficient, honest. Just the way I prefer it.

Pros: Very quick and easy to organise, pick up, and drop off.

Cons: Tried to call twice when we first were ready to pick up the car at the airport but nobody picked up, but when I messaged and WhatsApp, the replies were virtually instant.

Pros: Available to explain to us how the car worked (automatic gearbox) We checked the car together, and they suggested taking photos of the delivery condition

Cons: When we called them to pick us up at the airport, they picked up other people, and "forgot" about us, so it was necessary to call them again. The tank was not full upon delivery

Pros: Great staff, attentive & polite

Pros: Fast and easy, nice service

Pros: Fast and clear.

Cons: Our car was not powerful enough for slopes on Madeira island. I been told its a city car. But the slopes were in the city of funchal. Pros: Very friendly employee

Pros: Pleasure to have deal with. Definitely will use them again.

Pros: Vitor and Fransisco were great

Pros: The price was right for an automatic vehicle and the car was nice

Cons: It took too long to pick up and drop off the car and we had to wait for the shuttle quite a long time.

Pros: We got a great car upgrade, the agents were very kind, quick getting us in and out, and helpful. All in all, great experience!

Pros: They applied a discount for the time we wait, but only after I ask for it

Cons: The car was not ready for the pick up we need to wait for more than 30 minutes

Pros: Good car, professional service

Cons: No direct car pickup and dropoff at the airport. Had to take a Free shuttle

Pros: I had a problem with the first vehicle and they were quick to replace the vehicle. They delivered to a remote location at 9:00 at night. Very thankful for this great customer service.

Cons: The remote location and long shuttle ride to/from the airport. The fact that the first vehicle failed us (engine light and limp mode while driving up and down the challenging streets and mountains of Medeira) was very concerning. I am thankful that when I reported the problem someone was sent out with a replacement no questions asked.

Pros: Great people in the ground in Madeira

Cons: Trip too short

Pros: Excellent service, great car quality, fast check in and check out. I recommend to everyone

Pros: Great people and quick procedure

Pros: Car was in mint condition, service representative very professional and answered all my questions.

Cons: Nothing to say.

Pros: The airport transportation. The ease of the paperwork and the price

Pros: The car was new and the most important is that we had a flight at 6:00 am and they have a staff working from midnight to 8 am to bring you back to the airport

Pros: Very nice car (Citroen C4), better than usual for this type of models.

Cons: Too far away from terminal. Not enough pick-up shuttle capacity and slow processing : despite online check-in completed prior to arrival, it took over 1 hour to pick-up the vehicle as IT failed, etc. Upon return, instead of charging gasoline extra to already registered credit card, they insisted to do a new debit, which made the process slower than needed - and the staff driver was not particularly friendly nor polite.

Pros: Friendly staff, always ready to help. We had a crash where another driver hit us and Rentx staff was super friendly and professional at helping to navigate the process.

Cons: Picking the car took a bit longer than exptected, we waited over 30 minutes for pick up in the airport. All went super smooth after that.

Cons: The service was great. The car could use a good service as many lights were on.

Pros: Everything great. Service very good “, efficient and friendly.

Cons: The deposit is very high. Luckily I had enough money in my account 😅

Pros: We got the exact car model that we booked and not "another car in the same class". The price was good, the car condition was great, it was very clean. Guys at the office helped with child seat installing and overall communication was perfect. There was no pushing to buy extra insurance.

Pros: The transfer from the airport was very comfortable. Also, the employees were professional and spoke perfect English, what made the communication easy.
