Pros: Actually, everything has gone well.. The service was easy to contact when the check engine light kept coming on, and also when the oil light was on. I did have to put in windshield washer fluid as it was totally empty,

Cons: I was warned about over charging for incidentals, and when picking up the car, was given a pdf indicating at least 20 small dings like rock chip, or door dings etc. (the car had 75,000 kms on it - so I expect dings). When I asked about them all, I was told that the past drivers had been charged for each one... but obviously they hadn't been fixed - so why were they charged? It just seemed unscrupulous.

He didn’t calm down and repeated this 3 more times. I told him to relax, life is too short for those reactions. Man, it wasn’t that cen personal, you is plural.

It was in flawless condition and I would say it's great choice for Madeira's narrow, twisty and steep roads and beautiful sceneries. Textile roof kept us dry even in most violent rains and storms.

There were some roads where that car simply could not go up - not even in the first gear!! And please don't justify it by saying I can't drive manual - I have 40 years of experience driving manual cars on 3 continents. That car would have been fine in Holland or Belgium but not on Madeira!

Pros: Quick pickup and drop-off I ordered a Peugeot 2008 I got a Jeep Renegade with faulty sensors. They said they would have a replacement in two days.Then they tried to fob me off telling me that sensors are just an extra feature. I said the car I booked had camera and sensors this car was faulty. I was responsible for damage but the car did not have a key feature working. They changed the Jeep to a Mitsubishi ASX which had both camera and working sensors. So they were good in that respect.

Cons: The Jeep was tinny with unresponsive steering compared to the Mitsubishi. They did respond and change the vehicle but I wish they had initially not tried to get out of it. I would use them again.

The fact that the first vehicle failed us (engine light and limp mode while driving up and down the challenging streets and mountains of Medeira) was very concerning. Pros: Very flexible. I had by mistake selected a manual car which was totally unsuitable for the steep terrain of Madeira. Rentx changed the car the next day for an automatic in the next category for a reasonable additional daily charge.

Not enough pick-up shuttle capacity and slow processing : despite online check-in completed prior to arrival, it took over 1 hour to pick-up the vehicle as IT failed, etc. Upon return, instead of charging gasoline extra to already registered credit card, they insisted to do a new debit, which made the process slower than needed - and the staff driver was not particularly friendly nor polite.

Pros: Friendly staff, always ready to help. We had a crash where another driver hit us and Rentx staff was super friendly and professional at helping to navigate the process.

Cons: Picking the car took a bit longer than exptected, we waited over 30 minutes for pick up in the airport. All went super smooth after that.

Pros: The transfer from the airport was very comfortable. Also, the employees were professional and spoke perfect English, what made the communication easy.

Cons: The car had a warning because of tire pressure which we had to take care of. It happened directly after picking up the car (like 5 minutes of driving). It was not much of an issue, but it was a bit annoying.

Pros: Great manners, attitude, no nitpicking or trying to sell extra stuff. Extremely helpful, probably one of easiest/nicest rentals I've ever had. Efficient document handling and everything else.

Cons: Requires calling and getting picked up to be get the car, but that's a very tiny inconvenience.
