Driving Madeira Rent A Car at Madeira Funchal Airport

Pros: The whole process was very smooth. Great communication from them via WhatsApp when we arrived in Madeira around midnight. There were no delays at all. Car was a good condition. Drop off took a matter of minutes for them to review the car and take us back to the airport.

Pros: Everything. As I mentioned they were very kind and helpful and extremely punctual and professional.

Pros: Very good service of Driving Madeira. Immediate pick up at the airport and quick process with all the documents

Pros: No frills - no hassles.\Car had a few scrapes at pick up but no big deal made of it and same at drop off. Pick up at airport was timeous and efficient as was drop off.

Pros: Friendly staff, allowed me to drop off in a different location (city instead of airport) for no fee. Car was modern and reliable.

Cons: Charged an extra 35 euros because pick up was later than expected due to not fault from the customer (delayed flight which is common in Madeira). Poor customer service in this respect and was not expecting this charge so doesn't show sympathy to a customers long travelling day due to Madeira airport.

Pros: Excellent communication between rental and customer, fast pick up, no insistence on paying for extras, good customer service.

Cons: All was good. Booked again with driving Madeira for summer holidays 2025.

Cons: There were couple of scratches on the car, no rear camera, breaks were a little bit worn out. The system didn't work with iPhone, only with Android.

Cons: Car was really great. Good power, very clean. Higher chassis was good decision. We have day before arrival problem with electronics of car. No display/navigation/Air-conditioning working for an hour. Seemed like battery issue. We want on checking of car to company's central, but it seemed only as temporaly malfunction. I am still expecting unblocking of deposit, but I believe it will be done in few days.

Pros: We only waited a few short minutes for pick up from the airport, and they're based was a couple of minutes away. The time spent doing paperwork work was very quick, the instructions were straightforward forward. They didn't try to sell us extras that other car companies have in the past, and we really appreciated that! Our flight home was at 4am, and they met us at that time to drop off the car with a smile! They lovely professional people to deal with.

Cons: Partway through our trip the car had 4 dash lights come up for no apparent reason. Driving Madeira offered to swap the car out the very next morning, but we chose not to since the car was running fine besides the lights. The customer service was excellent, but I would have preferred to not have lights pop up while I'm driving difficult roads in a foreign country. No big deal, it happens.

Pros: Friendly and correct agents. When we wanted to change the time of return (out of the office time), I texted by whatsapp and got a quick message back. They called us the day before too, to be sure about our apappointment. So great service and we would come back here.

The back of the outside mirror had a minor scratch on it they initially wanted 479 euros for damage repair and settled for 150 euros which was in itself far too high. would not return us to the airport until we paid this amount although there was a damage waiver deposit when we rented the car . The car return area was extremely hard to find.

Pros: The pickup at the airport was on time and the staff were helpful and pleasant.

Pros: Helpful in the retrival of items left in the car after return. Although no airport drop off the time spent at drop off was limited and effective. Easy going when it comes to condition of the car upon dropoff. Overall value for the money.

Cons: No pick up at the airport which would be fine if there were some more information where to meet the pick up person, a sign or something similar at the airport. The conditions of the cars were not 100%. Twice cars (original and replacement) with slow puncture on one of the tires. The tire pressure was not adjusted before delivery. Had to fill up directly. The cars would need a little more attention before delivery to the customers. But that might also be reflected in the price.

Pros: The process was relatively smooth. The car was good enough.

Cons: The agent did not wait for us in time where agreed, and it took some 10-15 minutes to meet him finally. The email communication prior to day of pick up was not clear enough, I had to call the agency to understand where to pick up the car. Change of the pickup time required too much bureaucracy. The car was smaller than I expected, and my feeling is that price/quality ratio was not as good as I expected overall.

Cons: 1st car had A/C fault so was changed the next day. 2nd car seemed to have a misfire as struggled with the hills and spluttered. Condition was fine on both just mechanical issues

Cons: Finding the representative upon arrival at the airport is not easy, since it is not located where all other rental agencies are located. So I wasted unnecessary time on arrival before I finally found him. Don't follow the "car rentals" signs, go to the cab and shuttle exit.

We waited and looked outside of arrivals with no sign of the rep and another woman who was also due to collect a car with same company was already on the phone to them trying to see where they were. They soon appeared though.
