Cassiano's Rent A Car at Madeira Funchal Airport

Pros: The car was within expectations and the service they provide is good

Cons: They sell a last minute insurance, making you feel afraid to drive in Madeira without it. I don’t like that type of approach, it’s not very transparent. It increases the price substantially which makes me think that in the end they are not that cheap car rental company.

Pros: Fast service (tho slower dropoff but not that meaningful)

Cons: Car had plenty of bumps and scratches, air conditioning didn't was very low powered even at max setting

Cons: During dispatch proccess plastic cover of left back doors felt off. They want to give me broken part. I was driving damaged car for 10 days. Every body was pointing at our car. Positive, easy to find. Also Company cheat on insurance. Did digital check in on day before - insurance was 260EUR. On site 460. Never more !!!

Pros: Excellent customer service, very efficient, no problems. I thought about dropping one point for the off-airport location but actually that would not be fair as they are super close and the drop off was v quick

Cons: The vehicle we initially received had serious braking issues. The process of replacement took more than na hour, and we were asked to pay to refuel the faulty vehicle. We were promised a refund for this fuel, but it was never received. In addition, despite several emails, messages and phone calls during the rental period, we received no response from the rental company.

Cons: They tried to sell an extra insurance policy with treat that i would have to call and pay for a tow truck and other costs if i would not take it. A Dacia Sandero automatic was reserved they said but when i did not take the extra insurance they upgraded me with an old VW T-Roc with 75000kms, poor profile on the wheels, dirty and with a huge amount of small dents at the doors, bumpers and on the roof. Alarm signs regularly went on. Had to take pictures from all damages. Pick up more than 1hr.

Cons: Car had a few scrapes which were difficult to see in the dark at pickup and was'nt too sure that these would be accepted on return especially with the very large insurance deposit. However turned out to be not an issue.

She had no idea there was a huge gash on drivers side of car where car had need side swiped- and there was rust on the damage so it had been swiped a long time ago. The car had a weak transmission and was unable to go up steep hills in Madiera.

Pros: After initial issues at pick up, staff were helpful and efficient.

Cons: No signage re pick up outside airport. Driver didn’t even say hello or check who we were. Car brakes were squeaking and brake pads needed replacing as smelt from day 2. Otherwise car was good. Drop off though was very smooth and efficient.

Cons: My rental car was hit durning my rental time the drop-off speed was much slower and lady was teaching some other staff about whole process, collection van was waiting long for me and eventually left with my other friends and my bags. I needed to ask lady to hurry up as I need to go for my flight. She asked me to fill some form, point wrong places to fill out. So the whole process should be faster as you are rushing for your flight. Except that all perfect.

Cons: There is a 150 euro gas deposit that doesn't make too much sense.

Cons: First the pickup at the airport was delayed at least 30 minutes - we called their 2 numbers, no reply, once we got to the counter the Agent tried to upsell the extra insurance - 295 euros for 8 days when we have American Express Platinum card. Then the car we had registered apparently had bad brakes, and we had to open a new car contract. The new car had stratches all over, almost 70000 kms and very little power to navigate the hills in Madeira. We also noticed front tire were bald.

Cons: It looks like maintenance was due on the car, brakes sound, sometime engine sound.

Cons: Pick up from airport very slow. Didnt get the Panda we wanted. Brakes were bad. Window wipers didn't work.

Pros: The lady who handled our return was EXCELLENT! She communicated clearly and was polite & professional

Cons: The person I interacted with when picking up the car seemed like he was upset that we didn't choose their private insurance and gave us a different car than expected - old, backup camera worked only intermittently. Later, when I asked if we could extend for a few hours, the man who answered the phone gave me a quote for around 35euros and 10 mins later when I called to confirm the extension, he raised the price to 68euros (for 4 hrs). Not impressed at all.

Pros: Amazingly fast service for pick up and drop off. So efficient. No hassle, not trying to identify minor damage and charge you for no reason like some others do

We all had to wait for transport to the airport until it was resolved. The airport is 5 minutes away and all the other renters should have been transported to the airport while the other situation was being worked out

Pros: I had a great experience renting a car from you during my recent Madeira trip. The pickup at the airport was efficient, and the rental staff were helpful. The car was reliable and suited my needs well. I also appreciated that the fuel and security deposits were returned without any problems. Thank you for a smooth and enjoyable rental experience!

Cons: If the rental confirmation included a bit more detail about the insurance coverage and deductible, it would make it even clearer for customers.

Cons: The car they gave us broke after two days - the clutch would not engage a gear. It took them forever to get the tow truck, and a taxi to get back to their rental place, we were on the other side of the island. We paid for their insurance, which meant that we did not have to return the car full of fuel. However, when giving us the new car (which went down in quality, from VW Polo to Hyundai i20), they asked us to pay for the fuel again! So it was their mistake, their car broke, not my fault!

Cons: Took 40 mins to pick the car up. The car had no power going up hills. Returning the car took ages as well, once the shuttle left we had to go via the office so someone could make a payment which added another 10 minutes. When I returned the car I told the agent that the car had no power on hills, and rather than saying "sorry about that, we'll check it out to make sure the car is working correctly for the next renter", he was completely dismissive and denied there was any problem with the car.

Pros: The pick up didn't arrive on time. We got into another minibus with the 'Discover Car' logo on the side but it took us to another rental company.

Cons: I think we got unlucky, but it took us ca. 35 minutes to get picked up by the shuttle. First we get out and there is no one there. Then they don't pick up the phone. Then we hear that they'll be there in 5-10min but it ends up being 20-25 minutes. After that, it went smoothly.

Pros: Friendly personell and quick process for the return of the car. While we didn't particularly like the car - it did do its job at the end of the day and got us everywhere.

Cons: From check in the agents were trying to upsell us pushing a bigger car and willing to negotiate the additional cost. The booking on Discover included a free additional driver but the voucher did not detail that. At check in the agent did not inform me that there was a charge for an additional driver, I was told when the car was returned that I owed an additional $75!

Cons: The car we rented had low tire pressure from the get-go, and a warning light would come on every now and then. When that happened, it felt like the car lost power and we could only drive in first gear, with the pedal pressed all the way down. When we mentioned this to the staff, they didn’t acknowledge it, they said it was normal for rental cars because they’re not driven properly. Lol. We also rented the car with a car seat and paid good money for it, but it was old and wasn’t even fitted.

When we arrive to the counter, i was last in line and it took over one hour to get my car, then they had a system issue, causing further delay. Over 1-1/2 hours to get car. Return service was also slow, having to wait 20 minutes to check in car and catch shuttle.

I had 2 credit cards and wanted to split payment on 2, she had none of it.According to her-in terms&Conditions it states only one card,which is not.All she wanted is for us to get full insurance cover,which obviously is their main aim.Accomplished. Understand they are working on commission,but there was no need to be rude about it.

They weren't all marked down on the rental contract and it felt like there was a bit of inconsistency on what was "ok" and what wasn't. They took pictures of the car and told us to take pictures/videos before we drove off. In the end, we didn't have any accidents or additional marks so it was fine.

Cons: The damage to the car was not recorded on the contract. I was told that they hadn't had chance to update their database! I was invited to take photos in the event of dispute. I made the agent markup and sign the contract sheet with damaged areas to the car. I didn't take the excess insurance as I had my own.

Pros: We had an issue with the first car and they changed it without a problem and even upgraded us. The second car was great. Also the worker who serviced us was very efficient and kind. Great value for money

Cons: There was a group of people for pick-up at the airport, so the lady wanted only riders to come with her. I had to leave my children at the airport. Next time I´ll rather wait for the next transport with my children.

Returning the car was a bit tricky as it is at a slightly different location than from where the car was picked up, granted just 50 m down the road but we turned into the wrong spot first which was a hassle (my bad but still confusing)

Cons: Car had damage along the whole one side. We were asked if we wanted to drop off with empty tank and pay 90€. We are happy we didn’t take the offer as we filled up the car for 38€. We were told that the insurance we had purchased with discover cars would be a lengthy and unsure to get in case of damages and offered additional insurance at Cassiano’s, which we declined.

Pros: NIce people, quick and fair.

Cons: The agent disturbed me while suggesting to buy their insurance, saying scary things about the insurance I already bought from DiscoverCars. When I refused to buy their insurance the agent was not keen to explain me about the car options, gave me a description document to read.

Cons: Give us car that was not fit to climb steep hills with 3 people in it. Only admitted this upon returning the car after complaining the gears weren’t shifting correctly (automatic). Said this 4-DOOR car was meant for 1-2 people. Then why allow 3 registered drivers? Why not give us a more appropriate vehicle? Additionally, when we called to let them know the car was not functioning properly, the agent was very condescending saying it was fine. We rented a second car because this one was garbage.

Pros: Extremely pleasant staff especially at the drop off. Sadly, we had sustained some bodywork damage but she calmly & patiently helped us with all the necessary documentation, payment, etc & gave us emailed plus paper copies of everything so we could easily submit our costs to Discovery.

Cons: The car we were given was not the Skoda that we expected but a Hyundai with poor tire thread & poor power. We had to use 2nd or 3rd gear to navigate any hills even on the highways!!

Pros: They're quick and effective. Free shuttle works very well. They have branch by the airport.

Cons: The only drawback is a fact that their car park seems a little limited (we booked a compact SUV class and got Fiat Tipo which is a standard sedan/hatchback car. Pretty big into Madeiran streets.

Cons: We had ordered a Dacia Stepway, which is an economy SUV, a small SUV. Instead we got a Škoda Fabia which was not 4WD. I don't think that cars of different classes are "similar". We also did not get a discount for a lower class car.

Cons: Dodgy company 100%. Tried to pull a quick on when returning the car, said we got sun screen on the door and that it doesn’t wash out. None of us use sunscreen on our legs. Then when we took videos and caught him from the back. He asked to go through all of our phones and to delete all of them or else he wouldn’t take us to the airport and call the police. Skinny chap with a playboy tattoo on his neck. 100% stay away from this company!

Cons: You don’t get the car you chose. I reserved a small SUV (Dacia) and got a small Citroen C3. No discussion possible. Everybody is friendly until you decline the optional full insurance of their own. I already took a full option insurance with discovercars? Still they push you. Why??

Cons: That as we just arrived we felt a little under pressure to take out full insurance which was not the initial intention. We changed because we were first of all told we were going to have a damaged car so then it made me to question our decision.
