Drive on Holidays at Madeira Funchal Airport

Pros: Kindness of the agent and the drivers of the shuttle.

Pros: No quibbles upon return of vehicle. Quick drop off.

Pros: Fine car for reasonable price.

Cons: Pickup took approx an hour from the airport. Formalities when arrived an additional 45 minutes. For this reason I would be looking elsewhere next time unless the price difference is very big.

Pros: Very kind staff, car in a good condition

Cons: Not possible to change details after pickup time which was set by the system not me

Pros: I like this service because they have the good price, we have upgrade car for free. Car is clean and new

Pros: Rates, pick-up and drop-off speed

Cons: The condition of the car and a quarter of the fuel tank at the pick-up.

Pros: Excellent customer experience

Cons: Nothing

Cons: I know it says "or similar vehicle" but i have rented cars in Portugal, Italy and France every year for the last 4 years and the rental company always gives me the car that it shown on the booking. Drive on holidays has now twice not provided the car on the listing (which plays a huge factor in the car rental company that i select. Thats my biggest complaint otherwise the pickup and drop off was fast and easy. Good bye Drive on Holidays, i will not book with you in.future.

Pros: Friendly staff trying to get you quickly on the road

Cons: Pennel bus. Not enough seat and return drop-off took very long to get us back and where forced to take a taxi due the heat with 2 children

Pros: Online

Cons: No direct full insurance coverage, I had to pay full deposit

Pros: Rapidité

Cons: Assurances en double et où aller à l'aéroport pour la navette.

Pros: Easy booking and easy handling of the getting the car, both pick up and drop off was easy from the airport in shuttle, just 5 minutes from the airport and the service was quick and reliable. Thank you for a great car and experience !

Cons: Deposit very high

Cons: there were some misunderstandings or lack of communication regarding the reduction to the original price, which led to some additional emails after the pick up, but in the end the issue was solved

Pros: Fantastic car and service!

Pros: We liked the shuttle and were happy about the size of the vehicle.

Cons: We didn’t like feeling like we were being extorted by the agent. Additionally when we arrived at the airport we followed the instructions but there was no signage and we had no idea if we were in the right place. Our plane was late coming in and we were worried our car had been given to someone else. Check in link either didn’t work or had no confirmation, so we had no clue what was going on. Attempts to communicate via WhatsApp were not successful.

Pros: Good car well maintained, pleasure to drive, unlike some we have hired in Madeira

Pros: not much

Cons: car was not setup correctly, security software updates alert popping up, software not up to date, various features disabled or not working or faulty

Cons: So, this was my first time renting a car. The overall impression was lack of information. The company did not have any car specific to what I orders, but the size was almost the same. Also I paid for insurance so if something happened, they would cover it, so I thought. When I got to pick up the car, I was told that the insurance I have bought didn’t cover the total deductible. I could choose to pay 100 more € or have 1500 € payment as a depositum in case something happend. I felt ripped off.

Pros: Quick and easy pickup and drop off

Cons: High deposit - was returned within 2 days

Pros: Good car, good price.

Cons: Trying to force insurance. Rotten smell of carpets inside the car. Window spray liquid tank damaged. No flexibility for deposits (only credit card or additional expensive insurance). The agent almost forces the customer to give only 10/10 notes for the satisfaction pool.

Pros: Friendly

Cons: Told it was undamaged but found some dents and chips. Brakes were metal on metal from pick up.

Pros: The best car hire experience ever, start to finish, not to mention value.

Pros: Super service for the price. Totally worth it

Pros: Hire company were perfect. Would highly recommend them

Cons: Nothing to dislike. Totally professional service

Pros: Costs were clearly explained and were just as they were when I booked four months in advance.

Pros: Very helpful with navigation But a map would also be useful

Cons: Didn’t like paying 33euro extra for after 20:00 pickup. Because of flight cancellation/late departure

Pros: They were very easy to work with and had great personal customer service. We had flights in the middle of the night both coming and going, and they accommodated us.

Pros: the overall status of the car and the efficiency of the dropping off process

Cons: When we landed at the airport and came out from the exit there was nobody waiting for us and we did not know what we had to do, we did not know if someone was coming to collect us. I had to call the number provided. That was quite poor actually and is reflected in my scores (for instance agents were very efficient in the dropping off; much less in the pickibg up

Pros: Professional.

Pros: Very easy pick up and drop off, no issues with getting the deposit back, and friendly and professional staff. Good car too

Cons: Paying 73 euros to rent a booster seat that costs £15 to buy from a shop...

Pros: Decent car although it wasn’t the car I paid for.

Cons: Returning the car was aweful, they scammed me with the tank. Probably because we were standing on a hill the tank indicator said it wasn’t full but we just topped it right before handing it over. And then charging me half a tank is totaly insane.

Pros: The person that took us to the airport SUPER early was great! Give him a raise!

Cons: Some technical issues on desk devices to sign the contract. The car didn’t have the GPS as requested, but I got a reduction of the price, so it was ok.

Pros: Friendly and professional.

Cons: Likely through Discover Cars but it would have been helpful to know that Drive Rental didn’t have a booth at the airport. They picked us up but had we known we would have just been dropped off at the car rental.

Pros: Good price, no pressure to add on additional services, amount billed matched amount quoted.

Cons: Car was not 4WD as booked

Pros: friendly and helpful staff

Cons: nothing, loved everything

Pros: Efficient shuttle bus. Nice staff. Good car. No complaints. Would highly recommend. Great service for the price.

Pros: Very good transfer to and from airport

Cons: A caution of 2000 euros was blocked on my credit card. 2 weeks after returning the car without damage this caution is still not liberated

Pros: Good service, friendly stuff, good clean car

Cons: The price of additional insurrence (zero deposit) is almost the same as the price of car rental

Pros: Efficient, friendly, didn’t try to upsell add-ons but were clear with responsibilities. Checking the car back in was seamless, they didn’t look for faults that weren’t there like I have experienced in the past with other companies. Shuttle to/from the airport was very easy and regular.

Pros: Friendly service!

Pros: We waited for the pick up more than one hour. They have 3 options of payments. One as the same as the deal on the agent or the rest is paid more to over the deposit and insurance.

Cons: They are shorted on staff.

Pros: Lot of options, to suit all budgets and needs

Pros: Speed and clarity

Pros: The staff were very friendly, helpful, and professional

Pros: efficient and good price

Cons: Trying to blame us for minor previous damage so very fussy.

Pros: Pleasant and polite staff

Cons: Organisation and process of pick up

Pros: Friendly people, great explanation

Pros: when picking up the car, the company did not accept the card, although the card was accepted when paying through you!! we had to pay another €200!! other people have solved the same problem. I would have a better car for the total rental value…

Pros: Was pleasantly surprised by how professional it all was

Pros: no comments

Cons: no comments

Pros: Loved the efficient customer service and quality of cars in their fleet.

Pros: Mostly all perfect.

Pros: Friendly personnel

Cons: Hot office inside :)

Pros: You were perfect, efficient , superb service

Cons: Very friendly, fast and attentive to the cuatomer

Pros: I didn't like anything.

Cons: Me, 3 children and a friend were left on the island without a car. We came from Ukraine. Due to the war, we have restrictions on blocking funds on the card. So we offered to leave a deposit in cash plus leave our documents and we bought full insurance. They refused to give us a car and did not return the deposit. We rent cars in many countries. This is the first time I have had such problems. I absolutely do not recommend this company.

Pros: I signed a contract that said an amount of 2800 euros will be BLOCKED in my account, but the money was taken from my account. I returned the car in perfect condition, and they did not return my money still. My bank has officially notified me that 2800 euros have been withdrawn from my account from Drive on holidays, whereas Drive on Holidays says that they did not take my money. I will wait until end of the week to see if they will return my money. If not, I will start legal action.

Pros: Great customer service interactions

Cons: Incredibly slow process. Over 1hr to get the car, unacceptable.
