Italy Car Rent at Catania Fontanarossa Airport

Pros: I have reserved a car , with full coverage and in goof faith and when I have arrived at the desk of the seller , they told me that the coverage sold by the discover Car is not valid and that i have to do another one on the spot ! absolutely crooks

Pros: Car in good condition and clean

Cons: Unreasonably high Excess on insurance cover and cost of buying the lower limit damage waiver insurance. Too close detail paid to minor marks on car!

Pros: The car was very nice

Cons: Italy car rent is a scam, they tried telling me my car wasn’t covered by the insurance I paid for. They also tried charging me for being underaged and I corrected them that I was 29. Also they charged my card twice for the security deposit.

Pros: Fast pick up and fast drop off.

Cons: Baby car seats are too expensive (70€ each)

Pros: Once we’ve got to the desk it was fine, however we had to queue up for the desk nearly an hour.

Cons: Didn’t like staff trying to sell me waver, regardless of me having one already. That was one of the options during booking. Couldn’t find a car which far away from office. Car was either scratched or dented in many places, although only minor scratch to one of the rims was initially marked on the paperwork. Do we’ve lost another hour checking and photographing the car in the presence on rental firm staff member. I thought that my waver would eliminate this process. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Cons: watch out for them!! I arrived with my credit card which was perfectly fine and I used it before and after the whole trip, suddenly the clerk told me that the payment was not going through and there was a problem with the card. Only after he convinced us to add 220 euros of extended coverage insurance did they agree that my friend would use his credit card, instead of mine. That's how they raised the deal we pre-ordered, by another 220 euros!.

Pros: personale cortese e noleggio abbastanza veloce, quando mi hanno dato i documenti della vettura con il foglio che riporta i danni ( avrà avuto almeno un 20/25 bollini che segnano il danno sulla vettura) ho chiesto se c'era un altra vettura , la risposta è stata immediatamente negativa senza neanche un minimo di interesse

Cons: they were very difficult in sorting out the issue with the name of the credit card since there was a typo of the name on the credit card. they were not helpful. in the end discovercars helped us

Cons: The service at the counter before closing time could be more helpful but it was still ok. Different type of car than I chose (Toyota instead of VW) but it was the same size so not a big problem Insurance conditions not fully explained

Pros: The gentleman at the pick up counter went out of their way to help us. Our flights were delayed they stayed late for us they change the name on the reservation because we couldn’t find the correct passport. Just went out of their way I would definitely recommend them. The car was in great shape and overall good experience

Cons: They actually wanted to cancel my reservation once I arrived at check in, because they didn't have a car with automatic transmission, as I reserved and paid for.

Pros: The car was clearly not maintained. We had to change the oil during our trip, and the car's wheel bearings squeaked the entire time.

Cons: You will need an email on the day as they send through your booking forms etc which you need to sign digitally. Make sure you go round the car and keep records of any damage and highlight anything not shown on your paperwork or they will try to make you liable.

Pros: Italy Car Rent did their part well

Cons: They should have seen the contract you offered me and let me know that DiscoverCars was wrong and misleading.

Pros: Pretty new car.

Cons: Bad tires, we slipped easily when it had rained. And I had to sign off on the car before seeing it. It had a lot more damage then I signed off on. Luckily there was an employee that I could address about this and he wrote down the damage we showed him.

Pros: The drop off went superfast. Also the deposit was back in my creditcard right away.

Cons: When we came to pick the car up the car wasn't there. First the key was lost. It turned out that the car was getting washed. Eventually we got another car.

Cons: When we picked up the car we were informed at the arrival disk that it was almost new (7000 km) and the contract informed that the car had 2 scratches/bumps ( 2 photos showed). When we went to the dark garage and saw the the car, there were so many scratches/bumps - absolutely not only 2! Why did the you as a car rental Company not be honest from the begining - and informed all damages. Why schould we as your customer be so frustrated in the “Pick up situation” in the late and dark evening

Cons: They forced me to but an additional full coverage insurance, even if we had bought the rental cars Full Coverage. 90 euros more than expected! 😲

Cons: Did not accept my combo credit/debit card that works solely as credit abroad. Did not use their own system for queuing. Too much paper work and bureaucracy to get the car.

Cons: Hard to find after leaving the airport (no sings, no clues). My car (different that I requested) was ready to pickup almost two hours after requested pickup time. The car had some issues - probably with fuel pomp, giving strange sounds during the ride, it was very stressful and frustrating. Child seat rental was much overpriced.

Cons: Ordered small car, received a van. Where not there to return car, no notification on what to do to return key. Bloke you gave you the car was on the phone to his mate and took ages to leave the airport ..he was also sick, not a great look when the world is on the brink of a pandemic .

Cons: They didn't have the car I requested, ended up with a massive van that was very difficult to drive around narrow streets and impacted my holiday experience.

Cons: Language Barrier Didn’t have the car that I booked or anything similar and ended up with a 4x4 when I booked a Fiat 500 Convertible.

Cons: I booked Cabrio/manual gear. They told me they haven't it but showed photo of another car (still cabrio). I agreed. I went to the garage and it was not the one of the photo, not even cabrio but just solar roof and Auto Gear. I didn't see any sense in paying 3 times the price of a normal car just for a solar roof. Asked to move to a manual standard category. They refused. Asked my money back. They refused. Finally got a cabrio the last 2 days but payed it for 5 days. Risky businesses with ITALCAR

Pros: The car was available with a minimum of fuss

Cons: The car although "or similar" was not at all as booked. We booked an estate with sat nav. Collected a hatchback without sat nav ...... Having checked the website this equates to us paying for things which in essence we did not receive.
