Cons: They asked us to pay an extra 90€ due to the use of a « debit » card. This wasn’t mentioned in our contract. As overall price became prohibitive and had to look for another option. We lost 2 hour and had to pay twice more than our initial rental! This is non acceptable and we shall find an arrangement. Please consider this as a claim. Moreover Sicily by car employee was a wise guy.

Cons: When we arrived to the rental desk location there was a huge line. No signage or communication from the rental staff. After about 45 minutes standing in the burning sun, a Sicily by Car rep came out and provided basically no help. Another traveler pushed her way through the crowd and found the sign literally placed at the front of the desk with instructions to scan the QR code to get a number for the queue. Why wouldn’t they place the sign outside instead of inside at the desk?

Cons: It felt very rushed and the advertised "free access to ZTL" is only in the municipality from which you picked up the car which added to the stress of the trip

Pros: The car was hybrid and quite big for a small category car. The personnel was welcoming. During check-in in Catania airport, we showed them some unregistered scratches and they added it on paper immediately. In the end, the checkout was fluid and they made no remarks.

Cons: Check-out only : No information received on the ZTL in Palermo prior to our research, the potential fine was stressful. A small mail could have prevented that before our call to the city office. Location in town was difficult to access by car due to pedestrian zone and a oneway street. We had to call them for help.

It was midnight and we had two children with us.

Drop off was worse at a different location - the woman was in our opinion deceptive, tried to charge us a late fee because she had been closed for lunch when the Catania airport office had told us we could drop it off, then tried to get money out of us by saying we hadn't paid at Catania, when we already had.
