RentalPlus at Catania Fontanarossa Airport

Pros: Our agent was kind, courteous, and helped us understand the somewhat unique process of returning the car.

Cons: The location was a bit tricky to find, but that's much more due to the complicated mess of parking and various rental car companies.

Cons: Finding the rental centre could be easier

Cons: Ad-blue warnings due to low level was really annoying. Also there was missing windshield liquid missing! Car was not the cleanest overall..

Cons: I rented at site Discover with full protection , and they said it was not full , ask for pay more for insurance. Dificult to find the office at the airport in Catania and they gave me wrong address of drop of local in Napolis !!

Cons: See above note and the car had a service icon lit when I picked it up. I investigated when I got a message that the car will not start in 250 kms unless dealt with. Then I needed to find a dealership to service the "adblue" needs of the car. I submitted the Visa receipt for reimbursement. Also GPS system kept asking me to update it! That was annoying. The dealership fixed it.

Pros: Efficient and friendly

Cons: Mix up over the dates which was a fault on their system but they immediately found as a suitable alternative car.

Cons: Rental Plus did not allow me to pay for the cost of the rental on my debit card and the security deposit on my credit card. They forced me to pay an additional 351 EUR as a penalty for not paying for rental cost + security deposit on a credit card in one payment. There was no communication from Discover Cars on this very specific requirement.

Cons: The cost reserved for damage deposit. Seems extreme.

Pros: They were very professional and quick for Italian standards, who are really slow.

Cons: It was only a bit complicated to understand from the agreement whether should we wash the car before returning it or not. Also, they should really provide a pen for a customer to sign their name on the iPad. It is insane what my signature looked like :)

Pros: Gave us a bigger car, fully equipped, new and clean. Relatively fast checkout, super fast check-in. No issues whatsoever. Recommended.

Cons: There is a surcharge if you happen to arrive late (flight delayed) and miss the closing time.

Cons: Car park a bit hard to find

Pros: The car we received was almost brand new and in good shape. Also we had the luck of finding a RentalPlus agent on the parking lot, so the drop-off was very fast. The latter was a bit of luck though, as it was quite hard to find the RentalPlus drop-off / parking lot.

Cons: We spent almost two hours, after a 15 hour trip to Catania due to delays, in their office. First waiting on other customers, later on waiting on their systems and paperwork. It took ages to get the key for the rental car and to get our ID's approved. Their system was at fault here, so I would suggest to invest in a better one. Also we booked a compact car and received an SUV. So basically we were driving the narrow streets of Siciliy with a car which was about twice the size we wanted.

Cons: For reasons outside of my control, I was unable to get to Catania airport on 31st July to pick up the car. I used the Whatsapp number to message that I would not be able to do the pick up which was acknowledged but no help was offered to re-book the car, or offer to refund what I had paid up front. Not a great customer experience unless you want to follow up now and offer some redress.

Cons: Craziness about debit card - usage for deposit confirmed via chat, than blackmailing and additional insurance payment requested. Sorry but nowadays deposit via debit card preauthorization is a standard thing for 10x more expensive sailboats.

Cons: Was not easy to find the desk when I arrived in Catania Airport. The path to deliver the car was as well quite challenging (like a puzzle).

Pros: They gave us a free upgrade to a brand new car. Good price.

Cons: Dropoff location in Palermo recently changed. There were no signs indicating where to drop off the car, and Google maps led us to an incorrect location. We reached a rentals plus clerk who had to drive from the airport to the drop off location to pick us up and take us back to the airport. This was a time consuming process and we’re very lucky that we had given ourselves lots of time. Rental agent tried to get us to spend an additional 200 euro for insurance despite us buying your full coverage.

Cons: It was not the vehicle I specified. I called and email a few times prior to my trip and none would assure I'll have such vehicle. Landed on Sunday, spent a lot of time requesting the vehicle but nothing. They should be clear that Fiat 500 is not in stock for Sicily due to safety.

Pros: New car with low mileage, great condition. Friendly staff, good prices and normal deposit, I had 500 blocked for a Panda, most rental agencies block up to 1800 for this car-categorie in Catania airport. AMEX is accepted which can be a problem at other agencies.

Cons: Returning the car could be faster with a own return-desk at the parking, now you have to return the key at the rental desk and then walk outside with the agent, if you are in a hurry this could take up some time.

Cons: Try to sell all possible insurances.

Cons: 1. The service representatives are VERY slow in processing customers. It took about an hour to process us, given all the data was there already it's ridiculous. 2. the car wasn't ready even after all the time we spent at the counter. 3. when we had a problem, they offered to send a tow truck to pick the car up, and leave us in the middle of nowhere, and asked us to come pick a replacement car from the same place we picked the first car. (about 100 KM from our hotel...)

Pros: The price is excellent. Close proximity to Catania airport. Drop-off after midnight. Unlimited mileage.

Cons: They forced us to take a full insurance & they block 100€ for the gas which we brought it full but they never returned the money while I sent several emails, left without reply from their side

Cons: It was not clear where to find the company. “Meet and greet” never happened. Queued for 2 hours. Once we got to the front, we’re told the car would be 1 hour more. So 3 hours late. Absolutely terrible and will be telling anyone that will listen!

Cons: Difficult to find pick up desk from terminal as it's not on the paperwork and not sign posted. Return was ok but very difficult to find the right entrance to the drop off area as it's not signposted. Ended up going in the exit!
