Royal Rentals at Crete Airport Heraklion

Pros: Maria was wonderful. Quite a wait at pick up as she had to deal with a lot of customers at once, due to flight delays. Otherwise would have rated it higher. Drop off really easy. Staff are excellent.

Cons: Difficult to locate amongst the car hire chaos at a Heraklion airport. More detailed directions would be good.

Cons: The windows didn’t close the cigar lighter didn’t work so you couldn’t use the tom-tom navigation. The water for cleaning the windscreens leak directly onto the ground so it was unusable. The handle came off on the seat to move the seat forward forward to the car was completely filthy dirty.

Cons: - at dropping off, they charged us 200 EUR for a scratch of 2cm, a total rip off. They also reassured that Discover Cars will reimburse us within 2-3 working days which is not true. For several days the they did not provide the invoice that is necessary for the insurance and disregarded my emails and phone calls. - unclear conditions and communication - At pick up, they keep proposing additional deals when it was not necessary - require credit card at picking up otherwise tricky solutions...

Cons: The car could be better cleaned. At drop-off, there was an attempt to tell us that the car had some marks provoked by us - thankfully we had some pictures proving the opposite!

Cons: Made me pay for 2nd car ensurance because my visa card did not work on their system (worked on others) . They told me that I had to pay 22 euros because there was delay in my flight (no reason to do that since they would not close). The air condition of the car did not work.

Cons: The Suzuki Jimny cabrio is in very bad conditions, do not take it ! Or verify all these informations first : 4x4 system is broken (only 2 rear wheels traction), passenger window blocked, no radio, cannot adjust ventilation, no windscreen washer, headlights faded, hood latch complicated... and seems to be a water coolant leak ! we went out of coolant and nearly broke the engine in the mountains... We paid 400€ for this car for 4days, , where is the value for money ??? CHECK THE CARS, DON'T TRUST

Pros: Affordable prices, and located near the airport.

Cons: AC didn't work well but its probably bad luck. The manager's rude attitude when picking up the car. (The frontdesk lady was kind and helpful, but her manager was arrogant and rude towards us with no reason). The late drop off fee. Most of the other car rentals let you drop the keys in a mailbox but we had to wait for someone to review it on the spot, and this also has a charge.

Cons: The guy at the rental company sent me a whatsapp after signing the slip confirming the car was OK and whilst I was waiting to board my flight that I owed £744 for a damaged part of the car.

Pros: I loved that they didn't charge a fortune for a one way rental and that we were dropped off at the airport after returning it.

Pros: The service!! The agent Chrisanthi was fantastic. Warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and pleasant and a great level of English. I got an upgrade and it was perfect. All car rental companies should be like this.

Cons: Avoid this car rental company because they have a cunning, super overprice list for scratches and small car damages!!! Unfortunately, I found out about this when I landed to Heraklion Airport in Crete at 22:30, having a pregnant wife travelling together with me. On that price list, a small scratch on a rental car is charged starting from 250 EUR and going up to several hundreds of euros!!! I've been driving a car for 20 years and fixing scratches including painting costs up to 10 times less!!

Cons: At pick up in Heraklion, we spent quite some time to assess the car condition, after the representative was stating that they are super strict with even smallest scratches (charging a minimum of 350 Euro). They also said that they have nothing to do with the insurance that we had with Discovercars, after offering their own insurance.

Cons: You need to review your suppliers. We turned up to 'royal rentals', where an argument was taking place with a customer. This delayed our check in and made our departure from the rental very late at night. We had booked a 5 door car, instead we got a 3 door car. We eventually got a 5 door car, which was on its last legs - bits had fallen off and there was damage all over the car. The picture of the car we were supposed to get in comparison to what we got, was very different!
