Cons: car park is small and potentially challenging for drivers to get in and out of. Also car parking lot ground was not a paved surface which is not helpful with moving wheeled bags and wheelchairs.

Pros: Fairly quick to collect and drop off.

Cons: Place was offsite which was not made clear at booking so had to find the pick up van. The car was not the standard I had paid for, it did not have aircon (which I paid extra for) , no windscreen washer fluid, warning light for low tyre pressure, the inside of the windscreen hadn’t been wiped properly and it really struggled with the hilly terrain. When we fed back the issues at collection I was dismissed by the person who took the car back. The customer service was poor in general.

Pros: What good can you say about a company that charges 283 Euro for a flat tyre ???

Cons: 283 Euro charge from Surprice/International Car Hire for a Flat Tyre ! Two days into the hire we returned to our vehicle to find the front passenger side tyre was flat so went to the boot to see if there was a spare tyre or inflation kit to find there was only a tube of sealant but No Compressor to inflate the tyre. A replacement vehicle provided 4 hours later had the same issues. How can Discovercars.com use a company like this to provide safe transport to its customers ??

Pros: I had a fantastic experience with International Car in the Madeira! The booking process was smooth, the staff were friendly and helpful. Their rates are competitive, and the pickup and drop-off were hassle-free.

Cons: The car had a few scratches, but that’s to be expected given Madeira’s narrow roads and challenging terrain. It was reliable and performed well throughout the trip.

Pros: The car itself was good.

Cons: Unfriendly staff. Seperated our family when we first arrived so only driver can pick up car. Not appropriate when traveling with small children. Credit card booking system is unrealistic and unclear. We witnessed many people having problems with this. On return there was no “we hope you had a fab trip”. The lady instantly said can you drive to the airport to drop off your family and then come back. When there is a free shuttle service.miserable staff! Not a nice way to end a holiday!

Rate excludes
Many highways in mainland Portugal are tolled using only electronic means.
All rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder that can be used for paying for all toll roads.
You’ll be charged a service fee of 2.15 EUR per day up to a maximum of 21.52 EUR per rental in addition to the tolls, which will be charged to your credit card after the rental period.
You may also be required to leave an additional deposit for tolls.
An E-toll charge will apply; personal consumption will be charged separately at the end of the rental period.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

Maximum rental age is 99 years.
A senior driver fee applies to drivers over the age of 76.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

Driver licenses will be accepted if issued in the following country(ies): United Kingdom, EU.
Driver licenses from all other countries must be accompanied with International Driving Permit (IDP).
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit. Otherwise, the renter must provide an International Driver Permit (IDP).
Renters from the following country(ies): United Kingdom must provide the following documents: driver license with photo in order to collect the car.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.

In order to pick up the car, the renter and each additional driver must present the following documents: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher, return flight ticket.
Deposit and deductible policy

Available special equipment: Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
Underage additional drivers are subject to both Young Driver and Additional Driver fees.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
In case of renting at the airport location, the customer must provide a valid flight number in order to make a reservation.

Winter tires are not mandatory in Portugal.
Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
Business hours
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.
The supplier will hold the vehicle for 1 hour after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
