Pros: I liked that they weren’t picky with wear and tear or normal dirt from usage. I cleaned the car before drop off to as clean as when I received it but I didn’t need to bring it to a car cleaner. They identify large damages not every little small scratch that can barely be seen.
Cons: I was unsure whether I was downgraded a car without any refund. I don’t know much about cars so I didn’t know if the one I actually got was still a medium sized car or downsized to compact. I was told the engine is the same and that it isn’t a downgrade but I was still sceptical. Either way, I trusted the agent and I was happy with my car.

Pros: i have received the invoice for my rental after i dropped off the car early in the morning, i have tried to reach Avis funchal but with no answer as usual, there is extra charge about optional service “200€”i have never asked for and when the agent asked me about it, i have clearly said i don’t really need it because i have full covered insurance, i believe it’s not ethical from the agent to charge me for something i said no before, its really frustrating for a big company like Avis

Many highways in Portugal are tolled using only electronic means.
All rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder that can be used for paying for all toll roads.
You’ll be charged a service fee of 2.21 EUR per day up to a maximum of 22.10 EUR per rental in addition to the tolls, which will be charged to your credit card after the rental period.
You may also be required to leave an additional deposit for tolls.

The vehicle is provided with a certain amount of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
