Cons: The car was very dirty both inside and out. The front interior window was very hard to see out of when the sun shone as filthy. The amount of bumps and scratches were not as expected on a hire car.

Pros: Agent was honest about a pre-existing condition (dent) of the car. I was so nervous when I picked up the car ( coming from the US, we drive on other side of the road) I forgot to examine the car prior to leaving the lot. When I finally saw it, honestly didn’t know if the dent occurred with me or previously. The agent pulled up photos of the car and the dents were there prior to me taking the car. I was majorly relieved. I thanked him very much!

Cons: I booked through discover cars and bought the full insurance. I also had to buy the full insurance from snap because I didn’t want the hold on my credit card due to my country limiting USD. I wish this information was available before I booked, that I would need to buy the full insurance insurance from snap in order to avoid the hold on my credit card. However it was great.

Cons: 1. Pick up directions on the email should simply say follow the signs to ‘shuttle’ at the Auckland airport instead of the very wordy description that was confusing. 2. The car I received was very old and was very difficult to drive due to the fact that it didn’t have navigation / CarPlay or even a backup camera both are safety issues. On a minor annoyance, the car was all in Japanese which I had to play around a lot to even get the Bluetooth to work for the radio.

Pros: Staff at Snap were superb! Friendly and professional and very efficient.

Cons: The car (Toyota Highlander)was booked reasonably late in peak season. It was expensive for the age and condition of the car- 2017 model, about 125,000kms on the clock and had many scratches and bumps. There were no mechanical problems. We loved the fact that it was a lovely big car with lots of space for everyone.

Cons: Drop off service was not great. We needed to drop off early & hadn’t realised that office didn’t open until 8am. We arrived at 7.20am, all lights were on & all doors open but nobody around. After 10 mins somebody turned up (obvs been to buy breakfast sarnie) & wasn’t helpful at all. We understand office/ shuttle service didnt open until 8am but they should have a drop box that you can put your keys in. The guy took the keys reluctantly & left us to book an Uber. Customer service = zero!

Cons: We waited a while to pickup - lots of people and there didn’t seem to be enough staff. It was a regular Thursday afternoon so I was surprised by that. On pickup on Sunday, there was a queue of people and one person serving. When we arrived there was no indication where to leave the car and no one came out for keys. At other car rental companies, someone comes out for the keys. That said, the vehicle was a lot better than at other companies and so I’m happy overall.

We also were charged a $50 fee for a speeding ticket admin fee even though we were the ones that had to go to the New Zealand website and actually pay the fee. I don’t know how justify charging $50 for sending us an email.

Cons: The car we received smelt like spew. They tried to cover it with air freshener, but it lingered in the car for the whole 2 weeks we had it. Was disgusting. We even bought car scents/fresheners and wipes to help get rid of it. Not pleasant when it’s to cold to drive with the windows down.

Pros: We changed our rental to a one-way from Auckland to Wellington. At which point we purchased nonrefundable flights from Wellington to Queenstown. When we got to the airport, it was two hours before we were actually at the Rent-A-Car counter and are informed we cannot drop the car off in Wellington, although our voucher says we can. So we decided to keep the car and turn it back in there at Auckland and we purchased tickets from Auckland to Queenstown, so we lost our original flight fares.

Cons: Then I received an email stating the car was past two and I needed to turn it in immediately. Do watt? Where in mid island driving around and no possible way of doing that. So I emailed back that we we would be there on the day we said we would be back, which was on the 22nd. And we did.

Pros: The representative was very helpful though the reservation was incorrect… since we had to cancel, she encouraged me to ask for a refund for the insurance coverage.

Cons: On inspection of the vehicle it was heavily marked and scratched with some denta. I took numerous photos so that on return of the vehicle had proof that the damage was there prior to me. I was told I didn't need to take photos as they knew thw condition but I wasn't happy to accept that. The car could do with some repairs or replacing. The upside is they accepted the car on return without any issue.

Cons: I am not sure if this is a fault of snap but we did not appreciate finding out out booking was through a 2nd party not direct with snap. The booking was deceiving because we paid for full endurance then once we arrived there was a $2,000 holding fee. We were not happy as this is not fair to your customers as renting with your firm on line is not transparent. At no time whilst booking does a big sign come up if you continue to book and pay full insurance you will be charged $2,000 holding fee.
