Pros: I rented a vehicle for a 60-day period and was disappointed with the condition and preparation of the car provided. Although I had reserved a Toyota Aqua, I was instead given a Prius. Normally, a vehicle substitution may be understandable, however the condition of the vehicle raised serious concerns. The tyre tread appeared significantly worn, and I could hear slipping noises even while driving slowly inside the parking building, which made me question the safety of the tyres.

Cons: In addition, I noticed that the engine oil change date displayed on the windscreen was the same day I collected the vehicle. This gave me the impression that the vehicle maintenance may not have been properly planned or completed before handover. Considering this was a long-term rental for 60 days — not a short-term or one-day hire — I expected a much better prepared and maintained vehicle. The interior cleanliness was also below expectations. The cabin was not particularly clean, and the exteri

Pros: I recently booked a car through Discovery Car Rental with Mint Rental. The car I initially received was similar to what I booked, but the cleanliness was only average. After starting my journey from Auckland, I noticed a transmission issue within a few kilometers. I contacted Mint Rental, and they replaced the Nissan Note with a Toyota Vitz. However, the replacement car was also in average condition. The next day, I found that the rear seat belt was not working, which was quite concerning.

Mixed up the numbers to call for pickup on the airport. I called a number of discovery cars, not MINT first. Had to learn after 1 hour of waiting at the airport that I called the wrong number. Better transparency about whom to call could be enhanced maybe. Rest was ok.

Pros: For ~AUD$60/day I guess you get what you pay for. I'm not complaining, just wasn't expecting a Toyota Prius with 175k on the clock. I'd forgotten that New Zealand car rental firms don't replace their vehicles as often as in some other markets such as Australia. The vehicle was in reasonable condition, but the EV high voltage battery was EOL. The oil was clean - indicating it is serviced, and it didn't burn a tablespoon of oil after we did ~2750 kilometres in it. Had a few rattles.

The undercarriage of the car detached from the body and led the front fender to detach, making the car impossible to drive. The Mint vehicle had high mileage (over 150000 kms) and evidence of prior impacts were noted before i took possession of the car.

We called when we were ready for pick up and they said they will arrive within 20 mins (felt like 10 minutes!). We also appreciate that the representative did the car check instead of making us check - other car services did this, I assume for liability purposes. However, it makes so much more sense with the professionals checking. The experience overall was very chill and easy!

Cons: 9/10 purely because the car wasn't that new. It worked but things like the bluetooth incompatibility was a minor thing. We purchased a cheap clip-in magnet iphone holder from Bunnings on our own to help. Wouldn’t unlock and when I would manually unlock van the alarm would sometimes go off. So overall wasn’t that great experience with mint car rentals!!

Pros: I would never rent with them again and I’ll make sure friends and family do the same.

Cons: The car was a total piece of junk and I feel like I could of borrow a car that would of been in better shape!

Pros: 1st car provided, the air conditioner was running on and off, I requested to change another vehicle and the agent make the arrangement promptly.

Cons: Extra charge for early drop off

Pros: Same person picked us up, did paper work, and later received car and took us back to airport. Easy, efficient, stress-free. Process was as simple as possible. Very reasonable charges.

Cons: Hmmm- we had to drive ourselves and buy our own gas...can't think what more Mint could do.

Pros: Mint were fantastic, a good efficient service from all the staff I dealt with. The car was in very good condition and perfect for what I needed.

Cons: Car smelled like mildew and was old and dirty. After-hours pick-up staff were rude and unhelpful.

Pros: Car type and upkeep of the vehicle was good.

Cons: The after hour drop off was not very convenient. Mint Rentals did not provide free after hour shuttle to the airport. The after hours shuttle service folks gave us a receipt of NZ$25 as that is what they charge, but Mint Rentals charged us NZ$30 for the shuttle, which is not very professional.

Cons: Unfortunately all the radio interface was in Japanese so impossible to use when you don't speak or know how to read the language.

Pros: Kind and good operator and staff. The cars are older, but they work and are cheap. The hiring and returning went easily and fast, which was very nice.

Pros: The free shuttle service to and from.

Cons: Shuttle driver bringing me to the office did not help to remove bags from back of shuttle.

Pros: Its efficiency comined to the low cost

Pros: The staff was friendly, got me into my rental quickly, provided information about the area.

Cons: The provided car wasn't in great condition. Sometimes the passenger car door would not lock. The key didn't open the trunk. The steering wheel shook violently when braking at speed. The engine made squealing noises. It also for it's size of vehicle didn't get very good gas mileage.

Pros: They were friendly and efficient

Cons: The cars are quite old which I actually didn't mind, but some people might.

Pros: The manager was amazing. I had a driver hit the car during my rental period and Anthony was a calm and reassuring professional in the midst of all that and helpful in the initial stages of working on the insurance claim I needed to make.

Cons: Trying to find office when returning car. Suggested map be slightly larger so street names easier to read.
