Hertz at Auckland Airport

Cons: Being double charged when I was told this would not happen and now I am having to wait for a refund which will take 3 working days for them to consider.

Pros: no waiting time

Cons: Not the service but the time spent finding the rental desk, due to relocation following flood damage. I cose Hertz for ease at airport, and fully understand the situation but directions to new location where minimal, having to ask airport staff that where not 100% sure

Pros: The vehicle was what I had expected.

Cons: When I picked up our car in Picton the staff were unprepared for the number of renters getting off of the ferry even though I had called them 2 days before telling them what time the ferry would be arriving. They were efficient once they started to catch up.

Pros: The staff at Picton were amazing at making car rentals work despite the ferry cancellations.

Pros: The KIA Stonic LX we drove from Auckland to Wellington was excellent but the Suzuki Vitara JLX was just a very basic car. We dropped the KIA 2 days early in Wellington because our hotel was downtown within walking distance to everything. The attendant didn't ask if our Picton rental dates would change also so when we finally arrived in Picton after an 12 hour late ferry ride, the Hertz Picton office was closed. Had to pick up the car the next morning. We were told that we were a no show.

Pros: The original car was tired and disappointing. The Hertz staff at Hamilton provided a much better car when we changed over the car.

Cons: The Hertz staff member at Hamilton was exceptional. He made changing over the car easy, and assisted us well when we returned the car.

Pros: Although our experience was great, I'm sure those behind us weren't as happy. The agent focused on getting us our car, much to the detriment of other customers. I'm certainly not complaining, but Hertz should have had more agents to help other customers.

Pros: Got an upgrade to a Toyota Corolla Hybrid

Cons: Horrible customer service. Our car was broken into and we left multiple messages to report it to hertz with no call back.

Agent said she would refund but had to get managers approval . Still waiting for refund . Will follow up with Discovery on return to U.K. . Service not like in USA or Europe

Pros: The renting process went pretty smooth and fast. Car was clean and in good condition.

Cons: The rental confirmation didn’t specify the front desk is in the Auckland international terminal as we arrived in the domestic terminal from the South Island, we didn’t find the front desk as described in the confirmation. Then we realized that it was in the international terminal and we had to take a transfer bus to get there. Also the car has a slight wheel alignment issue that pull the car to the left, so I had to counter that constantly by steering it back straight.

Pros: We had selected a small car, but as they didn’t have any in stock, received a much larger SUV. As it turned out, it was a great car to drive long distances. Extremely powerful and very comfortable.

Cons: The hold amount was charge twice. While they were removed immediately after I returned the car; it gave a little concern.

Pros: Cost and cleanliness, vehicle on north island was noticably better condition than vehicle provided on South island.

Cons: Inability to take the car on the ferry was not disclosed at booking, if I'd know this I would have just flown between locations or enjoyed the train. Agent at pickup not able to communicate how the process of turning in the car would work in Wellington, inaccurately stated that I just need to show up to the ferry (not true, Hertz is not at the ferry terminal(s) in Wellington by the way, there are two as I found out) and that my fare as a foot passenger was covered to get across (also nottrue).

Cons: It wasn’t clear at Auckland airport what to do after dropping off car. A sign saying drop keys at hertz desk inside terminal would have been helpful.

Cons: Long wait when going to pick up the car, there was only one representative and they were doing their best, but we waited in line for about 45mins. I had also called hertz when we went on a toll road and made sure it was ok to go online and pay the toll ourselves, the representative on the phone gave me the ok to pay. Upon arrival to drop off our car they told me I had to pay them. This was not explained very well to me and I also called to confirm with hertz. I ended up paying for the toll X2

Cons: We paid for the full insurance up front only to find out we had to pay for any damage and claim on Discover cars later. It was very upsetting to hear this at the start of our holiday. We insisted someone come out and inspect the car after hearing this and the stuff wouldn't come out to inspect the car with us and didn't care about our concerns. We wont be hiring from them again
