You get to the facility where you then check yourself in via QR code while the staff ignores you. They then bring up a shabby car, with no instructions on how to drop off car at destination. We called Wellington office 4x to get instructions emailed to us to drop off. Then had to drop off car on street next to gas station. So unorthodox!

He then insisted that he had to check the car for damage to compare it to any damage when we collected it, I ask why when we had taken out “piece of mind” insurance and hadn’t been given any information on existing damage om collection

Cons: The Auckland pick up and drop off experience is terrible.. it's provided by heartland hotel, which means I paid extra for after hrs pick up and drop off for nothing, coz I have to match the hotel shuttle time instead of matching my own schedule time

Cons: As explained above: Neutral score is given here for some questions because I was not satisfied about the lack of response to my query about the level of insurance that was covered in the rate I paid. I rang after hours, at the time of pickup at Heartland H. in Auckland, but nobody rang me back. According to what I actually paid, I had paid for Full Coverage ($11 per day). However, I paid a $3000 deposit which- as far as I could tell- corresponded to NO coverage!

Cons: We ordered a Toyota Hiace and were given a Nissan Caravan - the seats were tiny and the whole car was MUCH smaller, holding only half the amount of luggage. We had to pick up after hours so never spoke with anyone directly from the car rental company and felt we were taken avantage of due to the late pickup. THe car was in terrrible disrepair, radio and demister didn't work, no air in the back part of the van and parts were falling off inside, it was like driving a rundown delivery van.

Also the city drop off location is impossible to find, we had to call several times.

Cons: It was a little bit of a nuisance when picking up the car after hours knowing where the pick up point was and finding the car.

Cons: Auckland -lack of information about the operation and features of that particular car also would not rent the Navman due to the out of date information on it. Next time I would use my phone GPS which was more reliable . Staff should inform the clients of the out of date information on the Navman and to use their phone to guide them.

Pros: Friendly helpful staff, efficient collection and drop off, the only issue we had was the collection area at Auckland Airport had just been changed and it took us a while to find the shuttle bus, this wasn't really Mode's fault as it was a new road layout
