Pros: Auto union personnel were efficient and friendly.

Pros: The car was cheap and a hybrid saved us on gas.

Cons: First Autounion rented us a car with flat tires. Then Autounion gave us a dirty, dented car (the dents were documented, but caused a delay during return). Autounion is understaffed, and doesn't have adequate shuttles to get people to their flights on time. We watched two shuttles fill up, before renting out own Uber to get to the airport in time.

Cons: When I rung to be picked up I was forgotten After ringing again eventually was picked up and taken to their base an hour later. After waiting for an hour in the queue (only one staff member processing the six customers in front of me) the company wanted a $3000 bond from my credit card (they wouldn't accept debit card) Their system decided my cards were suspicious and blocked my cards so I had to pay for a higher insurance policy to reduce the bond required. Total 2hrs:15m before I drove away.

The car was also returned prior to the collection time so the full 24hrs of rental was not given.

The turn signal was also the reverse side from most cars, so I kept turning while activating the windshield wipers and not letting the other drivers know my intentions to turn.

Cons: The cars are very old, mine even had spider web inside. All the wheels were different brands, one of them was missing a cover. They make you take pictures of every damage in the car at pick up “for your protection” or they will charge you damage you did not make to the car. The ladies at rental desk pick up were indifferent and sarcastic. There’s a rude middle age guy at pick up and drop off that check the cars for every minor detail to try and charge you something out of the deposit money.

Cons: Autounion had terrible pick up and drop off. Only one rep and a line of people. Rep taking a long time with customers explaining that a $3000 bond is needed. Customers unaware of this and did not have the funds in credit card or accounts. Long waits experienced. They have 3 options. Another customer as well as I paid for full cover to Discovercars and rep explained this was not needed as their options cover it. Car was full of scratches, dents etc and had to take so many photos to cover me.

Cons: If you take out Discover Cars insurance, UnionCar will not accept anything other than a CREDIT CARD with a limit down to $3000. So don't use Discover Cars insurance if your credit card does not have this line of credit. Easier to just take out the insurance with UnionCars themselves, which is $25 per day.

It was difficult for me to find the meeting point. A map showing the route provided in advance will be helpful as I am a visual thinker and internet and mobile access was more difficult for me as a foreign visitor. One of the brake lights did not work, though I was given the permission to have it fixed, it was not possible for me to do it.

Cons: The car had an after market radio which was difficult to use. No cruise control. A bunch of emergency lights showed up on day one. Couldn't find roadside number. Called corporate office in Greece, they couldn't help me. The company then emailed me to keep driving the car with all of the lights on. The windshield wipers were old and worn. I purchased new ones so i could see safely.

We tried to find out at the information desk. There was another couple who had been waiting for autounion staff since 5pm. They just ignore after hours clients. Though they knew about our arrival time and the flight number. We spent running back and forth 2 hours in the Auckland airport.

Pros: Not much at all. My suitcase was driven back to the airport while I was in the office signing papers. The driver only had 3 passengers. It was left unattended and taken to lost property at the airport. I had to drive back the next day 2 hours to pick it up.

He sent me a template of claiming it back from Discover Cars fully knowing I would not get a refund. The car had a rattle in the wheel, like something in the hubcap. Car obviously wasnt checked properly before renting it out. Radio wasn’t good at all. Very basic car but expensive.

This was confusing for me as I was under the impression that the rental office was at the airport. I had to ask several people where the pick area up was, as it wasn't clearly sign posted at the airport. A little map could have been provided along with the documentation.

Cons: Car park surface was a bit potholed, making wheeling of suitcases a bit different but this is a very minor issue!

Cons: As we were victims of the Auckland floods, our new flight was at 9.20am so we had to be at the aearly. As AutoUnion hours are 8-5, we had to pay $60 to return our car to another address at 5am. Car manual was in mandarin and no English version a available. Bit slap dash, did not instill confidence.

Pros: The pickup and drop off process was easy, the car was exactly like they said it would be.

Cons: The car didn't have a manual in English which was tricky when we were trying to install our carseat. And like I said the extra charge for an after-5pm arrival.

Cons: At the pickup location we just got handed the keys and got told to find the car ourselves. We couldn’t find it and had to go back and ask, and then they found it parked in behind another car. It seemed a bit messy. The brakes made a weird noise sometimes, and everything in the car was in chinese, so when we had some car troubles (flat battery the next morning) it was no help reading the instruction book in the car.

Cons: I paid for out of hours pick up. The car was not ready. Auto union blamed you. You blamed auto union. Your man on the end of the call was not helpful. Absolutely disgusting service. I was out of pocket as had to pay for an airport hotel and loose my money for a hotel I had pre booked further down south. Why the hell do you offer a service if you can’t provide it. The car had low air in tyres. No parcel self in the boot.

Pros: Car had a pushed in bumper bar and scratches on nearly every panel. Poor quality vehicle.

Cons: Had issues with the vehicle, was told just to keep driving it with engine warning light and hybrid battery warning light going.

Cons: They provided us with a dangerous car that was not legal to drive. We blew one of the tires midway through our trip and a friendly police officer stopped to help us. He looked at the tire and checked them out and forbad us to go on without changing at least both front tires which we did. When we talked to auto union about this they did not take any responsibility and would not pay for the tires or refund us even though they gambled with our lives for a few dollars.
