CarQ at Athens Airport

Pros: Pick up service was airport was fairly smooth, a van came to pick us up and take us to the rental location. The car was in a good condition and quite clean.

Cons: The rental agency charged us €20 for being late even though we'd called ahead of time to let them know that there were enormous queues to leave the airport. They claimed there was nothing they could do but this seemed unlikely as they charged the fine to my card separately from the payment for the hire. They also refused to mark existing scratches on the main rental document and instead used a different illustrated form which was impossible to see marks on a photocopied version.

Pros: the lady at the service desk 0 helpful. Took a lot to give us the car.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff! At pickup they marked every little thing on the car so there were no surprise charges when I returned it for existing scratches. I had to get the brakes serviced and I was far from Athens. They arranged the service (they needed cleaning, no big deal) and reimbursed me cash when I returned the car. Everybody there is honest and nice and just took care of me. Car Q is definitely my go to place in Athens now

Pros: Once we got past the pickup issues we had the rest was smooth sailing. Check in and check out was a breeze, the return to the airport, which CarQ returned us to a metro station by request, was a real bonus and really helpful. Thanks.

Cons: The directions as to where the pickup service was vague at best, we had mobile phone technical issues and could not contact the agency, after two hours of checking shuttle bus staging areas we finally found where CarQ did their pick ups from, a very helpful competitive driver came to the rescue, he even called CarQ for us, from there the rest was history. Call log insists I had not missed and calls, but who knows! Surprised that the car didn't have a full tank, guess work to return as same same!

Cons: The pickuppoint was unclear and took a long time to find, the drop off at the airport was far away from the departures and we had to walk a lot, and not the promised seven minutes since the drop-off van was not available at the reserved time, the free additional driver in the order confirmation is not on the voucher they send, and cost an additional 50 euro's.

Cons: My flight was delayed. Even though I called the agent way ahead, I was charged 40€ for late pick up which makes no sense at all.

Cons: You should check and take pictures of the car because they look for every dent and scratch. But they are honest and not inventing any scratchs

Cons: I returned the car with a 10 cm long scratch on the lower side of the back door. I have photos to prove. CarQ charged me €600 (that is SIX HUNDRED EUROS) while I am certain they will have their insurance fix it for free or even just leave it as it is because you can hardly see it. What a rip-off!!!🤬😤

Pros: Very friendly and kind personnel. Quick pick up and drop off and they did not try to add additional costs or convince us to change our preferences compared to other car rental agencies. Highly recommended!

Cons: The car had a very strong scent of wunderbaum. I don't know if that's usual or if there was a reason, but definitely too much.

Cons: We received a car with over 51000 Km on the odometer. Their were extensive scratches on the roof and one side of the car. The tyres were not great. On returning the car they looked for minor marks and issues and made a huge issue of this. Pointing out minor marks on the back left side under the car and a minor indent at the bottom of the left door. They told me I should not get upset as I had insurance. They took my entire deposit, under duress and told me to deal with the insurers

Pros: It was slightly difficult to find the bus from the airport, but afterwards there were no problems. Car was spotless clean and almost brand new.

Cons: Although the car had only 10k km, the touch screen was broken and thus there was no android auto.

Aggressive attitude of staff when checking car on return (looking for faults) as compared to the very lackadaisical approach on pick up (no interest in noting faults) buyer beware!

Cons: If your flight leave early in the morning you have to leave the car the night before even if you paid for the day after.

Cons: Windscreen was dirty from the inside. From time to time it was a nuisance while driving against the sun. I don't appreciate tank being only half full too. You need to focus on finding gas station from the beginning.

Pros: Car attendants answered all my questions when picking up the car. Eventhough it wasn't the cleanest when we picked it up interior was clean and new. Fuel was also on the last quarter of the tank but attendant was reasonable saying we can return it in the same fuel level. Unfortunately we scratched the car during our trip but the drop off and paperwork was easy and the attendant that served us was very nice and patient.

Cons: State of the car when we picked it up wasn't the best and we had to quickly refuel before starting our Roadtrip BUT attendant was reasonable with how CarQ expect the car when returning so still a good experience.

Cons: The car was not in very good condition (scratches all over; the cover of the gear shift was broken so you could see down into the shifter; car was covered in some dust and solidified liquid; the tire pressure and air bag sensors were on the whole trip, despite no problem with the tire pressure); and when it came to returning it, it felt as if the agent was looking for things damaged so as to charge us.

Cons: It is not professional to give a car to the client without the fuel’s tank to be full. I received the with 2/8 of gasoline in the fuel tank and I was able to drive only 190km before the first refuelling.

Cons: Trivial things such as the clock wasn't set so just kept flashing a wrong time, Couldn't be bothered to try to find out how to change it. Also got a tyre pressure warning within 10 miles of leaving the office, garage advised there was no issue with tyre pressure, but again had the warning light for the duration of the rental.

The car was truly awful, had clearly been involved in a previous accident, had zero power, bad clutch and was not in my opinion road worthy, I wish I had declined the car!

Cons: My first sighting of a Fiat Panda - and I knew it was too small. I sought help, wanted to trade up, and felt stonewalled: The kid working with me went in, told the manager, came out and told me they couldn’t help me. When I looked back into the store, the “manager” had disappeared. Your managers need to talk, even if they know they can’t help. I’m Greek. It’s not a cultural thing. It was just poor business.

Pros: The drop off was absolutely wonderful, and the agent could not have been kinder and helpful.

Cons: The car had quite a few scratches and marks so it was a bit stressful to go over the car as we picked it up.

Pros: No problem. Helpful. The first baby seat we got was broken and the second one (a much better one) came out wet after a bit of hesitation (we think they just washed it). Apart from that all good, efficient and clear. We returned the car two hours late but did not have to pay anything extra. Highly recommended.

Pros: Initially, experience was positive. The location is far from the airport but they picked me up. The desk person was polite. Gas level was at 1/8 and gas station and not many gas stations nearby so that was bit concerning but it happens. Assistant surveyed the car (almost new, just under 1,000km) while I tried to get an eSIM & internet. I took a quick look and left.

Cons: Return, different experience! Staff who checked me out was rude when I walked in. Realized later- she's the "bully". She found "a scratch" in the middle of the lowest part of FRNT bumper, almost underbelly. It wasn't mine but didn't look there, so I was screwed. She charged 163 euros (found out it'd cost less than 40 to fix, which of course they WON'T DO). Car rental was cheap but with the "extra cost" the price was same to AVIS, BUDGET. That's how they make their money. It's basically a scam!!

Unfortunately we were several hours away from Athens so it would have taken up too much time from our holiday. We then asked for compensation but they have so far refused.
