A desert in a place where there is natural beauty... but the people and their streets are not good at all, the roads are unsafe and the airport is very old... simply an old country

Araçla gitmemem konusunda uyarıldığım Elafonisi ve Balos a tekne turu satın alarak gittim ve her iki plajı da çok beğendim. Chania ve Retyhmno şehirlerini gezme şansım oldu. Her ikisi de tarihi mimari ve yapısı ile çok güzeldi. Bu şehirlerde akşam yemeklerini limana yakın restoranlarda yedik. Anakaraya göre Girit te fiyatların %10-20 daha pahalı olduğunu düşünüyorum. Konakladığımız eve(Sfakaki) yakın Spilies ve Geropotamos plajlarına araçla gittik ve birer gün geçirdik. Spilies plajı gördüğüm en kirli denizlerden biriydi. Deniz çöp parçaları ile doluydu. Çok beğenmedim. Geropotamos daha güzeldi,deniz biraz dalgalı olmasına rağmen keyifliydi. Bir akşam eğlenmek için tavernaya gittim. Yemekler vasat olmasına rağmen canlı müzik ve halk dansları gösterileri güzeldi. Bir günümüzü de Heraklion da Arkeoloji müzesi ve Minoan sarayı gezisine ayırdık.Bu günümüz de güzel geçti. Sfakaki de kiraladığımız eve yürüme mesafesindeki plaj da temiz ve güzeldi. Rahatsız edilmeden denize girdik,yüzdük güneşlendik.

We believe we visited a fair amount of nice places, mostly beaches (Sarandari, Plaka, Elounda, Almyros, Karavostasi, Ag. Nikolaos, Ierapetra, Ferma). Had great meals at restaurants like Taverna Ammoudara in Ammoudara, Zygos Taverna in Istro, Isla in Plaka, Barba Thymios in Heraklion.

We loved the people of Crete. The beaches were amazingly beautiful and the food was good. Friendly’s fast food in Agia Marina had great Gyro wraps and Funky’s in Chania had great pizza, traditional Greek sandwiches, along with great prices and service.

We actully drove to the North West of Crete close to Chania, but flights were better into Heraklion. Just a great island to discover by car.
