Italy Car Rent at Palermo Airport

Pros: Palermo pick up location had the car ready and had clear documentation of all existing exterior scratches which were minor. Catania drop off location quickly checked the car and didn't do a magnifying glass search to find scratches just so they could bill extra, which is the case with most rental agencies in Italy. I was surprised in a good way.

Cons: I was happy I didn't have to deal with customary hassles associated with many Italy rental car agencies. I recommend.

Cons: Very poor return process. No clear instructions

Pros: Had to return the car without having re-filled the gas to the level I started with, but was only charged for the missing fuel, no punitive fee.

Cons: They required a pre-approval hold of 900 euros on my credit card because I chose Discover's full coverage insurance option instead of purchasing theirs.

Vehicle had bare bones from a feature perspective - terrible quality and level of functionality - no mirrors, beeps when stopped, no power, etc…

Cons: I had an absolutely terrible experience with Italy Car Rent through DiscoverCars. This company is a complete scam, and I strongly advise everyone to avoid them at all costs. I had my own private insurance and deliberately chose not to take their overpriced full coverage. Despite this, they went out of their way to make my experience awful. They charged me a ridiculous 224 euros for something completely unjustifiable—wear and tear damage that was clearly not caused by me.

Cons: Beware - as with other car rental companies here, they will try to screw you when you return the car. They will look for any possible scratch, no matter how small. Be sure to document EVERYTHING about EVERY SINGLE INCH of the car when you collect it. Don't let them screw you.

Cons: Too many papers regarding the car condition, I had to sign one paper with the car condition before I took the car and it was mentioned there are no scratches, and after I took a car I signed another paper with scratches. The right front wheen rubber was damaged and wheels were overpumped.

Cons: The car we picked up still had rubbish inside it from a previous person. It was not the car we ordered and not similar to a small car, it was a larger diesel vw caddy not a small car. The fuel tank was only half full when we picked the car up. They charged us for a minor scratch to a hub cap which other car rental companies do not charge for. They were also going to charge us for a vegetative scratch that could be easily rubbed off. We argued about this and they changed their mind.

Pros: The car rental desk is in the terminal building nad the car just outside, so a very quick efficient pick up, essential when you land quite late into Palermo. We had an early flight home and could post the key in the letter box inside the terminal. Both were a big reason we chose Italy by Car, that and the good price.

Cons: Nothing we didnt like, car was perfect.
