She said I had third-party insurance, anything happens you have to pay us first and try to get your money back. So I paid $285 just to be sure. Woman waiting outside said yeah they do that. It’s a scam. We have had accidents and never had a trouble getting paid back! argh!!!

I know it's written it has to be a credit card but in france we don't use those and call any card a credit card, and i used my debit card multiple times in many countries without it. Ended up paying 300€ extra for a week. Stay away unless you have a credit card

I did not have an international license according to staff . A document of this importance to rent a car should have been clearly disclosed on the first page of our rental confirmation. We have rented cars in other parts of Italy and with other rental companies and we have never needed an international license.
