Pros: Good value, easy to amend booking as needed to extend booking by one day- friendly staff, able to speak excellent English

Cons: No signs for desk in rental car area, we were dropped off by a local person who called the company several times but could not locate the desk until I walked along every desk window to check where Optimo Rent was located (part of Autovia), car quite badly dented on receipt, cigarette burns on car roof and door pillars. On return dents were questioned but I had photos to prove these were existing on original collection

Cons: This company was a joke. They gave away my car and then said they would upgrade me, but needed to see an “international drivers license” which is not any sort of official government license. I didn’t have one from AAA and they said I couldn’t rent from them because the police would take the car if I was pulled over. They then said I could have the car, but only if I paid the €170 insurance fee… what a scam. I have rented numerous times throughout Europe and never needed an “IDL”. What a joke!!

Cons: Although there was a tiny Optimo Rent sign, this seemed to be a different company operating under several different names. The 'pick up' point was vague and not somewhere I considered safe to park and so we had trouble finding it. They tried to sell us insurance we didn't need. We were told we'd been 'upgraded' to a Corsa but we'd specifically requested a smaller car for the narrow streets.

Pros: No surprises. Everything went as expected. Sign the papers, get the car and you free to go.

Cons: To get to the OptimoRent location you have to arrange a shuttle, but as a tourist I don't have local sim card and I don't want to make expesive international calls for that. Adding an option for Whatsapp call would be really nice, so the clients could call by using Airport free WiFi. Same with support, whatsapp calls are highly preferable for tourists.

Cons: The car hire company was called EvoHire, not Optimo. Slightly confusing and not sure where I stood regarding the insurance cover I had taken out. The office was located a 5 minute drive from the arrivals area. It was difficult to find the pick up point and required waiting for the lift, which is annoying. Would recommend a closer car hire office.

Pros: When picking up the car, the gentleman working the desk was pleasant. He told me the car had 7 scratches or dents and marked them. The car was parked in the dark so I couldn’t properly evaluate the condition, although I could see that the back left bumper was smashed in.

Cons: Off site location. Lot not well lit. When I returned car in daylight, two men came out and scrutinized the car. First, one asked if I had wrecked and damaged the back left bumper. I said that was already done and marked in paper. He said, “How do we know? Do you have pictures?” I had taken pictures the morning after renting. I naively let him scroll through my phone. He saw that I didn’t have a clear view of the driver’s side. They claimed I damaged driver door. They are crooks. Do not use.

Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 1760.00), Theft Protection, Third Party Liability (TPL), Premium Location fee, Road tax, Free modifications, State Tax.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 26.

Maximum rental age is 74 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 2 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

In addition to the regular driver license, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory if the customer is not a resident of the following country(ies): Italy, EU.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.
Renters from the following country(ies): Italy must provide the following documents: proof of home address (e.g. Utility bill) in order to collect the car.

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
In case of renting at the airport location, the customer must provide a valid flight number in order to make a reservation.
By law, winter tires are mandatory on all roads from 15.10 to 15.04 in the following regions: Aoasta-Valley.
Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
Rental period
The maximum rental period per agreement is 30 days.
If the renter would like to extend the rental period, renter should return to the car hire office at the end of the rental period to sign a new agreement.
Business hours
The supplier will hold the vehicle for 2 hours after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
