Can I get a refund if I have not used my Booking Credit?
Yes! You can usually withdraw your refundable Booking Credit back to your original payment method, as long as you request the withdrawal within 1 year of receiving the credit.
Booking Credit can be either refundable or non-refundable. The key difference is whether the credit can be withdrawn as cash or can only be used toward a future booking on DiscoverCars.com.
Step-by-Step Guide:
First, determine how and why you received the credit.
Refundable Booking Credit: If you cancelled your entire booking at least 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up time, your refund is issued as a refundable Booking Credit. You can either use it for a future booking or withdraw it as cash.
Non-Refundable Booking Credit: Credit provided as a goodwill gesture or refunds, such as when you remove Full Coverage from 00:00 local time on your scheduled pick-up day until your scheduled pick-up time, are issued as non-refundable Booking Credit. This credit can only be used for a future booking.
If you have a refundable Booking Credit, open the cancellation confirmation email you received when the credit was issued.
This email contains the link you need to request a cash withdrawal.
Click the “Request to withdraw funds” link at the bottom of your cancellation confirmation email.
The link is one-time use. Once you submit a withdrawal request, the link cannot be used again.
You can request a cash refund only for the refundable amount. Non-refundable Booking Credit cannot be withdrawn as cash or returned to your original payment method.
Once your withdrawal request has been submitted, the funds will be returned to your original payment card within 5–10 business days.
Remember that you have 1 year from the date the refundable Booking Credit was issued to request a cash withdrawal.
"I have credit in my account, so I can cash it out anytime."
Only refundable Booking Credit can be withdrawn as cash. Non-refundable Booking Credit can only be used toward a future booking and cannot be returned to your original payment method.
"I received Booking Credit after removing Full Coverage, so I can withdraw it as cash."
If you remove Full Coverage from 00:00 local time on your scheduled pick-up day until your scheduled pick-up time, the refund is issued as non-refundable Booking Credit. It can only be used toward a future booking.
"My Booking Credit is valid for 3 years, so I can request a cash refund at any time during those 3 years."
You can use your Booking Credit toward a future booking for up to 3 years, but you only have 1 year from the date the refundable credit was issued to request a cash withdrawal. After 1 year, the funds remain available as Booking Credit until the 3-year expiry, but they can no longer be withdrawn as cash.
💡 Did You Know?
The withdrawal link in your email is designed for security and can only be clicked once. If you see an error, it likely means your request is already being processed.
