Surprice at Crete Airport Chania

Pros: Fast pickup and drop-off, reliable car. We were given the exact model of the car we booked. No issues with the car during rental.

Cons: Additional driver fee was disclosed only upon car pickup; heavy upsell of additional insurance during car pickup.

Pros: Not much.

Cons: Manic service. Manic people. Car was in a terrible condition. Dirty inside and out.

Pros: Easy pickup, but nothing special compared to other companies

Cons: Car was a wreck, very bad external condition with so many bumps I took not pictures but a film of all the car. More over, 110.000kms, noisy and on top: dark blue…when in Creta under the warm cretan sun. When returning the car, we also had problems due to extra bumps (how to even notice) done by another person, who reported the ‘accident’ to the company, and it took 30’ to argue our liability was not engaged (even though fully covered by max insurance) to be confirmed. Charged 25€ for papers!

Pros: all good

Cons: nothing

Cons: Le niveau du gazole, la clef qui était defectueuse

Pros: Everything worked fine and fast.

Pros: Nothing! We went there and they sold us an insurance for another 230 euros. They gave us a different car. No bluetooth no google maps. Staff not helpful at all.

Cons: The car was not on top condition

Cons: We had to let them fill up the tires because our car was giving a tire pressure warning

Pros: Great pricing

Cons: Pick up process was slow but was late afternoon on a Sunday

Pros: The receptionist was a fairy, very kind and helpful.

Pros: They accepted my claim and changed car next day.

Cons: Cars are of poor condition, old and smelly. Fiat had paint on both of left side windows after painitng so looks like after incident. Waiting area in full sun for long time.

Pros: The car dropoff was better than the rest of the expeirience.

Cons: The older blond lady had been impossibly rude upon car pickup, the car was old, dirty and smelly, with broken head of the manual brake which made it painful to release. We weren't told it's a diesel, but luckily we paid attention, otherwose we might have misfueled it. Overall awful experience.

Pros: Nothing, absolutely horrendous.

Cons: The (maybe South African) gentleman, who appears to be in charge, and who gets your details before you pick up the car is horrible. He uses scare tactics and intimidating behaviour to coerce you into paying more, including splitting up people from their families, rushing the process, and threatening. Absolutely disgusting and he should be ashamed of himself. The whole experience though was horrendous, with hidden charges, awful cars, hostile staff and a generally bad experience.

Pros: Airport Shuttle

Cons: Pick-up/drop-off speed, politeness, no acceptance of digital credit cards for deposit

Pros: I did not like any aspect of Surprice service.

Cons: I was extremely disappointed with my experience. I understand that this is a low-cost rental service, but I have never been given a car in such poor condition before. The vehicle was old, and the clutch was in terrible shape. It made a squeaking noise and was extremely stiff and difficult to use. It is unacceptable to rent out a car with the clutch in that condition. Also, the customer service was very poor. The staff were unhelpful, and the overall experience was far below my expectations.

Pros: Not much.

Cons: Pushy, not extra friendly, noone to pick us up at the airport, dirty car, noone helps with doors or luggage

Pros: They're very helpful and friendly. Pick up and drop off processes are smooth.

Cons: The car was in very bad condition. Even it's auromatic gear the car almost always shaking. The AC is not enough sometimes and if you There were lots of scratchs on the car. Going uphill when AC is on this car is a true nightmare.

Cons: Slow service, long waiting, difficult to find / not clear instructions on how to get to them

Cons: Initial welcome. The staff was plain rude. But it must be noted that the drop off was more pleasant.

Pros: Fast drop off

Cons: Slow pick up and staff member was very abrupt and direct.

Cons: The agressiv staff.

Pros: Our flight was late and we we were offered to collect car next day or pay a late pick up charge ahead of our flight. Clear instructions so it went smoothly as did the drop off.

Pros: Clear instructions and lived up to their word.

Cons: Confusion at pick up time/place.

Pros: Nothing, awful company, please avoid as much as possible. There is a reason they have lower rates + they most probably rent you broken cars and rip-off with insurances.

Cons: Noone was in the airport for pick-up, after over 30 minutes of searching, we managed to ask some random guy if maybe he is from this company, and accidentaly was. He had no information of our booking (2 weeks long booking). Office staff very rude. They tried to give us 2 broken cars (which we declined) and then downgrade. Do not buy insurance from them, rip-off, 200+ euros more they asked that the retailer offered. Totally awful. Eventually cancelled and had to find new car after hours.

Pros: Very quick and new clean car

Cons: Excellent helpful service.

Pros: After return the deposit is returned in a matter of minutes. That is great. Nice staff, good location.

Cons: Had problems with car battery. Had to return to Surprice. They fixed it and from there is was good.

Pros: Surprice agency in Chania is very efficient and trustable. I have been using their services for years and I never had any bad surprise with them. They are nice and reliable and I will definitively use their sevices next time

Pros: The service was efficient, convenient and easy at both pick-up and drop-off. There was no pushing of additional extras either. I hadn't heard of Surprice before and the reviews for most of the rental companies at Chania airport weren't great, but I was very happy with everything and would definitely use again. The car was great too.

Pros: Friendly and fast pick up and drop-off

Pros: The staff were excellent. Efficient, friendly, and helpful.

Cons: The car was not in the best condition. It had previous damage to the front bumper which had not been repaired. Parts were loose and this could easily have led to unwanted issues during the hire. I didn't realise how bad the damage was until a few days into the hire.

Pros: Tried to pressure me into taking out extra insurance even though I’d already take out top up insurance from Discover cars.

Pros: Very easy and efficient

Pros: Helpful and fast

Cons: The only thing is when you pick a car and they say it’s going to be something similar. Our car was old to others. So you don’t know what you will get. That’s all

Pros: Good Value for money and fast service picking up and dropping off

Pros: Car was quite old but still good value considering price

Cons: At arriving it was really hard to find them at Chania Airport. I receive no instructions how to find them, they were not waiting for me

Pros: Fast pick up and return.

Cons: Received smaller car then ordered.

Pros: ease, price

Cons: Car seemed a little old.

Pros: Very good vfm, friendly service

Cons: Car was quite old but it was good for the money.

Pros: My credit card did not work and there was no possibility of taking the credit card of my wife or change the name from the main driver to her name to have the main driver and credit card in the same name. We lost our insurance and needed to go by bus and taxi. Your non-flexibility destroyed our holidays and I would even recommend my friends to not choose your company.

Cons: No service, even aggressive employee when he told me I must buy a 500 Euro insurance because of the issues.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Everything was very easy and smooth.

Pros: Very friendly and efficient.

Cons: The car had done 150,000 + Kilometres.

Cons: The car was really old, more than 73 000 KM, it had a broken parking sensor that was causing noise all the time and driving us crazy the whole holiday. We reported this to the car rental immediately after we picked it up and they said everything is ok and they cannot find another car. After 30 mins of talking, they managed to find some alternative car, which was probably 15 years old The windshield fluid was almost empty (managed to clean the windshield twice in total) and car was very dirty.

Pros: fast pickup and all was sorted quite quickly

Cons: Car condition, the way how to car is haneded to you and the other way how every details is checked once the car is returning back (situation like, we will give it to you as messy as we want but you have to put that back nicely clean and without any scratch)

Pros: Everything was perfect

Pros: No BS about insurance. Old car but great price. Car worked perfectly.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Very poor customer service by representative named Chris(Christian) in Surprice. Extremely rude, unprofessional and confrontational for no apparent reason at all. The only unsatisfactory experience I have had within the country of Greece or with any other booking through DiscoverCars.

Pros: Nothing.

The staff were aggressive and try to isolate and bully customers.

Cons: Scammers and liars. Also providing vehicles that aren’t safe to drive.

Pros: Nice people.

Cons: Condition of the car. There were stains on the upholstery, damaged plastics, etc. We had very delayed flight and landed at 2AM (4 hours after closing the office) but there was no option to pay extra for late pick-up. There was such a option from other companies.

Pros: Someone will greet you at the airport and within minutes they drive you to their office which is only 3 mins away. When you drop off the car, there's a quick inspection and again in minutes you"re dropped at the airport.

Cons: The person assisting us on check in wasn't friendly, helpful or patient. However, this seems to only apply to this person as other staff were courteous and helpful.

Pros: Surprice were waiting straight away for me. No messing around. Excellent value for money. Thank you

Pros: Short airport shuttle. Agent waiting in arrivals with name card.

Cons: Service described as ‘Meet and Greet’, but the vehicle was off airport and required a shuttle - though this was less than 5 minutes.

Pros: The pick up service was good, most of the staff were polite and the car was clean, modern and in good condition

Cons: The man who went through my paperwork was rude and very dismissive of my Discover cars insurance. He said goats would jump on the car and I needed to pay €500 extra to insure "his car" was protected. I did not pay and politely told him i was covered by Discover cars. It was very threatening and misogynistic behaviour and he needs to drag himself into the 21st century. I will not use this company again, i felt quite shaken by his attitude and aggressive manner.

Pros: Really easy, someone met us at the airport- swift transfer (approx 2 mins from arrivals), friendly helpful service - Altho think we had a new person sorting us out. Returning the car was even easier/quicker. Would definitely use again :)

Pros: Speed, prices, helpful ang kind personnel

Pros: Friendliness of staff and price

Pros: Car was quite old and sounded it, it had 155,000km on the clock. It's the oldest car I've ever rented.

Cons: Old car.

Pros: Easy

Cons: Car windscreen was dirty. Didn’t help to use screen wash, it was still splattered round the edges which was distracting when you’re driving a left hand drive car in a strange country.

Pros: Polite friendly people, The car suited our needs

Cons: The pick up speed was very slow however they did apologise

Pros: The person picking up from the airport was very nice

Cons: The agent was very rude with no reason. He also offered "additional" insurance for 100eur despite the fact that I bought full coverage from DiscoverCars. He insisted on buying his insurance claiming that the one from DiscoverCars is fake. He treated clients unprofessionaly giving orders and acting unpolitely: "you go out", "you sit here". I wish I took diffeent company. We came with my husband for a 3 days trip without children. This car rental was like a rock in a shoe :(

Pros: Very nice representative

Cons: Nothing

Pros: The kindness of the two people who served us

Pros: Very quick and easy.

Cons: Service was great. Car smelled like smoke but everything else was great. Great value.

Pros: Fast pick up and drop off to the airport

Cons: Nothing

Pros: The kindness and efficiency of the staff, the fact that they pick you up immediately in the arrivals area

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Quick and efficient service.

Cons: Condition of car could have been slightly better.

Pros: Not very much. The first car I was given was very old. When driving to our accommodation the car did not have enough power to get up even the slightest incline in the road and was dangerous. I returned it the next day and was given a slightly less old car which worked OK although it was obviously so old that it didn't have any bluetooth or even usb charging points.

Cons: Not very much, the first advisor seemed very rushed and just wanted to get rid of me. When I returned the first car the next day the advisor was more pleasant although she did expect me to refill the petrol tank even though it was due to Surprice that I had to use fuel to return to their office.

Cons: Airconditioning did not work on the passenger side, seatbelts did not pull back, warning on the screen for airbags disfunction. Plastic on the shifter was broken

Pros: Friendly and good value for money.

Cons: Car was older / high mileage.

Pros: Team when returning car more bubbly than when collected the car. That being said it wasn’t a bad experience

Cons: Nothing in particular

Pros: Customer service was excellent by the staff on duty.

Cons: Nothing to dislike.

Cons: Old car provided, AC not working to full capacity. Many issues with the car but also one of the staff was very rude, bald male.

Pros: Friendly, efficient.

Cons: Car a bit old & basic but fine for the price.

Pros: Everything from start to finish was awesome. The staff pick up, the price, the car itself and the after care. Even our deposit on home was back before we boarded the flight where most companies try to keep it for a week.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: I felt the agent was not too friendly or helpful on pick up & was a bit rude to be honest. I won’t I use company agsin

Pros: Bet good car, price and service provided

Pros: car interior was very dirty there was also a fault - when you put the vehicle in reverse the bright white gps screen was activated making it difficult to see tgr rear mirrors in the dark

Cons: hired 3 cars over the last 3 weeks , in athens and Sabtorini, this was the highest deposit required fir the worst car

Pros: Great car, the outside was spotless. However the seats needed cleaning.

Cons: As we come to Chania many times a year it would be good to have some sort of loyalty program, instead of continually trying to get a fair price with multiple companies

Pros: Surprice is a budget rental service. I booked out of high season, the car was ready to go including the requested gps. Easy and friendly return policy, I didn't hvae the feeling I had to double check everything. Transparant, easy, no hastle.

Cons: As it's a budget rental, please be aware these are not the newest cars.

Pros: Friendly staff, easy to find, quick pick up and drop off. Highly recommended.

Pros: Friendly and efficient

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Just great service. They helped out when our creditcard had gone over the cards limit. Only had to pay 10 € in order to use our debit card.

Cons: It is not that we disliked the service or the car, but if we've to mention something - the car had big and small scratches on all 4 sides.

Pros: Nice people, everything clearly explained, quick pick up. No problem at all.

Cons: slow, still have not refunded my deposit

Pros: Had to call them to pick us up after that very smooth and efficent

Cons: car was old and worn but did ok

Pros: Friendly

Cons: For the amount we paid we would have rented a much better and safer car

Pros: Super friendly at the start while picking up the car but unfortunately his chilled vibe so to make us feel relaxed about the small marks all over the vehicle.

Cons: When trying to hand the vehicle back they purposely kept us waiting and found a mark on the vehicle which was definitely there before. When picking the vehicle up we even questioned this particular mark and his reply was don’t worry small marks are okay. They kept us waiting and made me pay £180 before taking us to the airport. After reading the reviews about this place I wish I had read them before our trip. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from a company

Pros: The very kind guy at the drop-off, that after leaving us at the airport and getting back to the office, came back to the airport just to bring us a mobile phone that we forgot inside the car. Very appreciated.

Cons: the car was small and old

Pros: Friendly staff, efficient rental process, good car overall an excellent experience. Highly recommend.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: They picked me up at the airport, waited for me and explained everything in detail. Straight to the point.

Cons: My only complaint is that the car didn't have the option to change the GPS to non-greek :(

Pros: Easy drop off

Cons: No reply to my reclamation in time. Lower category car that was booked.

Cons: They try to make you pay for extra Insurance

Pros: Really quick and easy friendly service

Cons: Our baby car seat wasn't great and it wasn't clear how it was supposed to be fitted. Everything else great though.

Pros: The rental car agent was great. Very efficient and friendly.

Cons: It was very hard to find the Surprice rental car pickup and drop off location. The local address is Chania wasn’t listed on any of the rental car paperwork. We spent a lot of time walking around at pickup looking for the shuttle van and driving around at drop off looking for the location.

Pros: Really friendly service at both pick up and drop off. Would definitely recommend.

Cons: Nothing to fault, a great experience.

Pros: Very professional, personel explained me everything.

Cons: Child seat should be cleaner.

Pros: Picked up from airport very quickly

Cons: Agent was extremely officious.

Pros: Not much

Cons: Only 1 person to process my order so it took a long time as there was a person in front of me. The car itself was old and poor condition.

Pros: Close to airoprt

Cons: Old and very damaged car was provided, had to spend time photographing over 40 dents and scratches already on the car.

Pros: I was met at the airport with a friendly chauffeur who drove me to the pick up point, and the car was easy to access even though our plane was very late.

Pros: Friendly employees, good service, good price.

Cons: Overall quality of the vehicle was fine, but not 100%

Pros: Friendly staff

Cons: Amex cards were not supported.

Cons: When I arrived they told me that I had to get in the minibus alone as there was only space for one person. I did not feel safe as a female getting in a random bus alone without my partner and he couldn't go as I was the driver. They then made us walk on a dirt track for 10 minutes wheeling 3 suitcases which broke my large suitcase wheel. They gave us the car & luckily had photos and when we returned he tried to say we scratched it and needed to pay. This was a lie as we had photo proof.

Pros: one car was ok, the Nissan micra looked like it have been hand painted

Cons: The latest models are on the site. what I got was a Kia Rio, about 12 years old. The car was in poor condition with various defects.

Pros: Nothing apart from they changed my first car without fuss.

Cons: Had to wait nearly 45mins to be picked up from airport to get the car. Then had to wait for 4 other clients to have their cars sorted out, paid for out of office hours why? First car was dirty inside with stains, doors creaked, clutch seemed to be going. Had to change the first car, second car was better but trim inside broken near driver seat, wiper blades were useless didn't clean windscreen at all.
