Royal Rentals at Crete Airport Chania

Cons: Out of hours fee

Pros: Our agent was very nice.

Cons: We didn’t realize it was quite so far away from the airport terminal. It was a bit of a walk and hard to find. But we figured it out.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Car condition radio not working, charging slots not working had to carry a power bank to charge phone and wiper blades rotten

Pros: A very speedy collection and drop off process and the woman in the office was very efficient and friendly

Cons: Maybe the deposit could be a bit smaller

Pros: Friendly efficient agent, no hard sell for expensive insurance, will use them again

Cons: nothing

Pros: simple

Cons: smoke smell

Cons: CAR CONDITION

Pros: Prezzo

Cons: Sedili sporchi, spia pneumatici sempre accesa perché non avevano resettato

Pros: A very fine car No problems

Cons: Nothing

Pros: perfect service, no issues

Pros: Friendly service

Cons: Car condition was less than ideal.

Pros: One of the places that allowed different drop off location

Cons: Not clear where to drop off car at Heraklion Port until I made a phone call. Then I was given clear instructions

Cons: Had to show video to prove that a car damage was there before picking up.

Pros: The car was in terrible condition on the outside and inside. It must have been circa 15 years old not what I expect from a car rental.

Pros: They were very easy to work with. We had a newer car that took us all over the west side of Crete. It was awesome. Would definitely Brent from them again!

Pros: Agent Helpfullness

Pros: The managers were supportive and helpful, did not try to include the additional insurance.

Cons: The car we got was pretty old.

Pros: Friendly Service

Cons: All Good

Pros: Fast and efficient

Cons: The car was ancient, 93k km, on not-so-good roads.

Pros: They were very kind and efficient

Cons: Everithing worked as I was expecting

Pros: Royal rentals is an excellent organization. They handled a situation we had with the outmost professionalism. I highly recommend Royal Rentals for your Crete vacation.

Cons: Nothing, they were excellent.

Pros: Simple

Cons: Car was basic not even a remote for locking it

Pros: Very friendly, speedy and above all honest service.

Pros: Helpful staff, price

Cons: Quality of the car

Cons: Child seats were too old and worn.

Pros: Nice car, good price, friendly staff.

Pros: Fast friendly service. Great value for money

Pros: Quick and polite

Cons: Car was not quite clean.

Pros: Very friendly service, all went smoothly.

Cons: Some of the cars offered were a little old, but all still useable. The address on Google is slightly wrong - it's actually closer to the airport. Maybe up to 5 mins from arrivals.

Pros: Nice and easu. Smooth.

Pros: Easy process and no surprises. Deposit was returned in 5 working days.

Cons: Can not think of any negative point.

Pros: Friendy staff, easy pick up and easy drop off.

Cons: Friendly, quick in releasing the deposit

Pros: Their offices both in Chania and Herakleion airports are just 3-5 minutes walk outside the departure hall. They were super responsive both on phone and email and as I had to make some changes during my rental period it was very helpful.

Cons: I had to pay extra for dropping the car not at the same place where I picked it up plus paying extra for out of hours service (as my flight changed to be in the middle of the night). But that's all legitimate. They have a clear rule - no driving on gravelled roads, which in Crete can be challenging if you are looking for adventures.

Pros: Out of office hours car pickup was possible with a reasonable extra charge. Very fast and efficient pickup and drop off of the car.

Cons: Security deposit clearance from the credit card takes time.

Pros: Service good, except for the damage handling. I have to do all the administrative handling afterwards (claiming etcetc). One day after left Chania the initial deposit of €900 still not released but they were very eager to ask €350 for initial damage recovery!!! So now €1250 is there!!!

Cons: Administrative handling regarding damage. You as customer take the full coverage insurance so that you are ‘safe’.

Pros: Starting with the staff, very poor communication and trying to make you sign documents without leting me seeing the car first.

Cons: The car was really dirty and full of sand on the inside. Seats also very dirty and bad smell. At the delivery Maria, the staff, had the nerve to complain about the car having dust on the exterior. Too much money for this type of car we got but even worst for the way the treat people. Never going to use this rental again.

Pros: Only one service desk person available and very slow service. We had to wait more than an hour to collect the car and more than half hour to only drol of the keys.

Cons: Slowness of process, everything manual written. Not enough people for amount of service needed.

Pros: Friendly staff. Quick turnaround. Gave us a choice of car.

Pros: The comments given by the owner was sometimes inappropriate like «you talk too much». He did not take us serious just because we Are young. Overall it was okei!

Pros: The Madam of Royal Rent was very kind and polite, with a good english and help us with everything.

Pros: Even though there was a mixup on Discover’s part on my rental the people at Royal bent over backward to make it right, getting me an even nicer car than I rented.

Pros: Nice and friendly staff.

Pros: Nice car.

Cons: Expense for time of year. Car was smaller than wanted and no alternative again

Pros: Excellent

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Quick drop off

Cons: Vehicle had one working headlight and numerous errors on dashboard due to tyre sensor and ABS being off. Car was not throughly checked before given to us and we nearly crashed due to lack of headlights in severe rain storm that started just as we picked up the vehicle. Local agent came out to replace headlight bulb next day but when I mentioned condition of vehicle at drop off the agent said “it’s the end of the season” like they could not maintain it over the summer and what should I expect.

Pros: Woman in the office was really nice and helpful

Cons: Nothing

Pros: It was a reasonable cost.

Cons: The pickup time was not clear- agent did not ask me when I would drop the car off which would obviously be just before my flight and he was not there. I could not get hold of anyone to tell them about the engine light.

Pros: Very fast service, without any problems. My deposit was refunded in 2-3 days. Very recommended.

Pros: Car wasn't the one i booked and fuel tank was nearly empty and when we picked up was late so we struggled to find fuel..

Pros: Close to the airport

Cons: A little difficult to find the right hole in the fence, carrying suitcases through stones and rocks

Pros: Clean car, friendly staff

Cons: I booked a medium car (polo or similar) but all they had was a yaris which is a mini car

Cons: The condition of the van was below average. the window did not open and it was quite hot

Pros: I would like to thank the staff who have been very helpful after I was robbed of my bag which included my rented car key. They did everything possible to provide me with a replacement key (which I had to pay for and will claim through Discovery cars insurance) within the day and also delivered to my hotel.

Pros: we liked the service, but the car's condition was poor

Cons: the front window of the car was dirty, there was no window cleaner. something was banging on the back of the vehicle (car muffler, shock absorber?). tire pressure was too low.

Pros: the returning of the car was great, the man who took it was kind and even dropped us of at out new airbnb.

Cons: as I said the pick up of the car was very problematic and wasted a lot of our time and energy. also, when we asked about a possibility of (very justified) compensation, we were told that we can try but we probably will not get one - which is a rood response.

Pros: Royal rentals were friendly helpful and supportive when we had an issue. Will definitely recommend and use again

Pros: Friendly and honest service

Cons: Non

Pros: Dobra lokalizacja, blisko lotniska, profesjonalizm.

Cons: N/A

Cons: the women yelled at us and was not nice at all, didnt care about what we wanted and didnt care aboute "discover cars" like its not related to her company.

Pros: Very reliable and supportive

Pros: The lady was great. No hassle rental

Cons: The car was a very tired 8 year old Nissan Micra automatic that if I was to buy it wouldn't have been much more than what we rented it for! We were expecting a more modern car for the money.

Pros: I had read alot of bad reviews but it was nothing like that at all. They were absolutely fantastic and was always ready to help.

Cons: When booking, I chose a strictly defined car: Mercedes-Benz A Class. Not a similar car, not a class of car, but a specific car. When I came to pick up the car with two small children, I was told that there was no car, that I had to take either a lower class car or get out. They said it was my problem that they didn't have a car. They said they had a lower class Hyundai KONA (very old) and I had to take it or go out. (they don't know the word please and excuse me).

Pros: Efficient and easy, no hassle.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Polite, helpful and quick

Pros: Easy pick up and drop off

Cons: The high deposit reserved/blocked on my visa (1400Eur!) and that one week after the amount is still blocked.

Pros: Everything

Cons: Everything

Pros: Fast service. Good conditions.

Pros: Nice customer service. Pleasant experience.

Cons: The car (Passat) was at least 5 years old.

Pros: People and company were amazing! Cheap

Cons: Car was a very low engine! Slow! Not much power at all

Pros: Friendly, and good english

Cons: Wasn’t too easy to find from the airport

Pros: Car worked Wells, staff was helpful and everything went smoothly. Also The Price was competitive. Minus for not allowing to drive to balos lagoon(10km gravel Road) but We found asphalt places to visit.

Cons: Car worked Wells, staff was helpful and everything went smoothly. Also The Price was competitive. Minus for not allowing to drive to balos lagoon(10km gravel Road) but We found asphalt places to visit.

Pros: Warning light from start of hire on tyre pressure

Pros: I would never rent a car from them again

Cons: Poor attitude and given a very old car

Pros: Quick with the paperwork and choice of cars within my booked category

Cons: Slight walk from the Terminal building but not more than 100 meters

Pros: The people at the front desk was really polite and helpful. No hidden/extra fees in the rental. Car was as expected and in excellent conditions.

Cons: There is room for improvement when it comes to picking up the car. However there was a big group renting quads in front of us that took time.

Pros: Good service by agent

Cons: Condition of car

Pros: Friendly & helpful

Pros: Very friendly personnel, fast processing, clean and new car

Pros: Easy to collect, no issues when returning

Pros: The lady on the desk at both pickup and return was very efficient and helpfully. She handled the paper work very efficiently and had us on the road without delay. She is the main reason for my positive ratings.

Cons: The car was just about passable. It was clean to a basic level. The body work was in very poor condition, there was not a single panel without scratches or dints. The breaks rumbled when applied, and there were various worrying noises when changing gear and turning. In addition, sometimes it was difficult to turn the start key and I thought we were going to be stranded away from the towns. It appears to have been the worst car available as when I returned it the other cars looked much better.

Pros: Picking up the car was fine.

Cons: Absolutely unsatisfactory return of the car. The car rental agent did not show up at all for the scheduled return of the car at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. He didn't even pick up the phone. On the second number, I only received an apology from a manager and the information that I should throw the keys in the mailbox. After 45 minutes of waiting, a representative from another rental company appeared and checked the car and took the keys. But I still haven't been refunded the €900 deposit.

Pros: I paid for out of hours pick up, the attendant was not at the office at the time expected. However the attendant was incredibly polite and apologised sincerely, which made up for the error entirely.

Cons: While a good price (hence the score for overall value) the car was between 10 and 12 years old and had various minor things wrong with it -- the headlight lenses were yellowed and barely translucent (from being outside in the sun for many years), door rearview mirror controls did not work, electric door locks worked intermittently, rear hatch would not stay reliably in the open position, passenger seat airbag light was always on, whether or not anybody was in the seat, etc.

Pros: Friendly service / informative

Cons: Did as described

Pros: No problems, good price, the possibility of paying one day extra.

Cons: Kiosks quite far from the airport, low amount of petrol in a tank.

Pros: Good service, everything in order, and the car worked perfectly, we recommend it

Cons: The office in Heraklion airport is wrong in Google Maps. They're trying to solve it, so better ask for directions on the spot

Pros: Our late flight was delayed by 2h. I called the Royal rental before our deparure to let them know. The representative kindly waited until 1:45am for us to arrive.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Very good service by Royal Rentals

Pros: The staff was correct.

Cons: They do not accept debit card, had to take cash out from a nearby cash machine.

Pros: Stayed late due to plane landing late, so I could pick up car at airport. Also was able to bring car back the next morning as it was too big, and they had a smaller one they had found for me.

Pros: Friendly people!

Cons: None

Pros: Great staff

Cons: Car cleanliness

Pros: Pickup and return was ok-ish. Royal - at least at the pickup point was a very small one person hut but we got the paperwork done fairly quickly.

Cons: The car was absolute trash. It had run more then 164k km and was making the weirdest noises all of the time. There was so little wiperwasher fluid that it became dangerous to continue to drive on the 2nd day!!

Pros: Easy pick up and drop off.

Cons: We booked a 9 seater with air con for 7 adults and 2 babies. We were given a vehicle with no air con just a ‘cold’ fan which wasn’t even slightly enough for the temperatures in Crete. We had to purchase hand held battery fans to keep the babies cool. Journeys were very uncomfortable which was a shame as we wanted to explore more of the island but going too far was unbearably hot. We were offered another vehicle when we got there with ‘better’ air con but at a higher price. False advertising!

Pros: Best price, easy to deal with, honest.

Cons: The interior wasn't as clean as it could have been, was ok for me, may e not for others

Pros: Patient to answer questions. Car was relatively new and efficient. We did have to pump 1 tire and change wind screen cleaner + the fluid.

Cons: Booked car was not available.

Pros: Very polite. Quick and with personal attention

Cons: none

Cons: car was dirty on collection, parcel shelf broken, tried to claim we had caused damage on return.

Pros: no fuzz, no trying to sell anything extra. quick and efficient.

Cons: could have used a small google maps picture to explain the location. but was not a big problem.

Pros: Friendly desk service and efficient car pick up and drop off

Pros: Great experience with this company. I would use them again!

Pros: Friendly pick-up in Chania (good advice given about local area!!).

Cons: Nothing, except slightly hard to find drop-off at Heraklion

Pros: The people working there were polite and helpful

Cons: Car was dirty, had empty bottles from a previous customer under all the seats.A/C was not working on our first day so they gave us another car for a day until they fixed it.The automatic car in general needed a lot of time in order to gain speed, especially when overtaking another car something that was quite dangerous overall. I think this car should be not offered to customers for safety reasons. Really disappointed as I paid £150 extra than if I was getting a manual car. I felt out of pocket

Pros: They were friendly and helpful

Cons: The walk to the airport with luggage.

Pros: Friendly and fast.

Cons: -

Pros: Were on time, even after office pick up

Cons: Very old car

Pros: friendly stuff

Cons: everything ok

Pros: The two agents at the Chania airport were very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Very helpful and friendly. Offered flexibility where needed.

Cons: Office to collect car wasn’t obvious to find. Car had more signs of use and wear than expected.

Pros: Very good

Cons: Nothing

Cons: i would prefer to have the address sent via email before reaching chania...the location is outside

Pros: So easy to pick up the car and drop off. No upsells, no scammy last minute insurance additions... and very friendly staff. (This is for Royal Rentals, specifically.)

Pros: Overall Great experience! Convenient location Quick pick up-drop off Clean and in good condition car

Pros: The representative was helpful and efficient and offered good advice regarding my rental and travel information.

Pros: Great service for pick up and drop off. Friendly staff, and quick service

Pros: Staff were very friendly

Cons: Car was pretty old and run down

Pros: easy to pickup car

Cons: They say that car is MB VIto, but car was VW tarnsporter what was scuffed

Pros: Royal at Chania were very friendly, relaxed and non nit picky. The car they initially gave us was poor (Fiat Panda Semi-Auto) but they were very helpful swapping this out for the much better Hyundi i10 Auto ASAP.

Cons: The initial car they gave us was old, tired, faulty, underpowed and hideous gear box. But they replaced it ASAP hence great review by us.

Pros: professionalism of the staff

Pros: Staff very friendly and no waiting either way

Pros: I dit not like the service

Cons: They gave us a car with a broken light, and said we should pay for it at drop off. We delivered the car with a little dust on and they Said they would take up to 300€ for cleaning it. Very bad experince in a foreign countries, they tried to scam me. Very rude people, with very bad english.

Pros: Freindly. No insurance sales effort.

Cons: Too old and dirty car to the Price. All My credit card information was noted down in the contract. Only acceptable since it can not be used online without my appoval due to Better safety rules.

Pros: The efficiency and the service.

Cons: I didn’t like the limitation of not being able to go on dirt roads like Balo. It should be written in advance.

Cons: First, they made me to pay fee for full insurance, second they took 200eur deposit, which wasnt necessary. Personal was very unpolite and hysteric

Pros: The pickup and drop off were quick and easy.

Cons: The representative were not at the airport when we arrived, even though they had our flight number.

Pros: They were very helpful with our rental.

Cons: It's very difficult to find the rental office as they do not come up on Google or Apple maps. Please put your locations on the maps! We could have easily walked to the office in Chania instead of waiting for a ride if would could have found it.

Pros: very uncomplicated

Cons: rental desk in Chania airport really difficult to find

Pros: friendly and quick

Cons: nothing, everything was ok

Pros: Very friendly & helpful

Pros: Everything was done as promised.

Cons: A bit complicated finding the office near Chania airport.

Pros: Fast, kind, courteous, professional

Cons: The car showed a tire was deflating when I took the keys

Pros: Stelios gave us a free upgrade although we declined their local insurance, I was happy to rent from Royal and Discover, would use again.

Cons: They are not correct. They withheld an amount of 80 euro when I returned for a scratch that was.Anti-insecurity COVID. I do not recommend them

Pros: Quick and effective

Cons: The first gear of the car was a little bit difficult to handle at the beginning.

Pros: Very friendly and quick!

Cons: Nothing to raise. First class quality service. Highly recommended.

Pros: The person we picked the car up from was very efficient and friendly. Booking the car was easy and the process was simple. The money blocked off on my card was quickly released.

Cons: The people we picked the car up from tried to penalise us for returning the car with some dust on it, even though we had picked it up in this condition. However, after showing them some videos they conceded this was not our fault and did not add on the extra charge. This was a quick exchange however and did not affect our positive experience with RR, we would simply recommend all renters take videos of the car they pick up; I do NOT feel RR was trying to con us with extra charges.

Pros: The customer service and communication in Chania was very good.

Cons: The car wasn't in great shape (lots of scrapes and a headlight was out).
