Autounion at Istanbul Airport

Pros: Their service is standard, but the staff is really friendly and helpful prior to arrival, on arrival and drop off. As we've used them last year, I must admit that the clarity and efficiency around things has dropped a bit from last year when we used them.

Cons: The car we got this year was quite dirty inside and lots of stains and marks which could have been removed prior to pick up. When we picked up the car the fuel gauge was zero, so we had to immediately find a fuel station and prayed we made it there (this is not ideal if you don't know where closest one is). The car had lots of dents and scratches, but we did take photos prior to signing to take the car. There's a lot of vagueness around tolls (this changed from last year), and that's not ideal.

Pros: We travel a lot and rent cars everywhere. This was the first time that a company comes to pick us up for the airport transfer with the car we are renting it. This is genius. We don't have to put bags from here to there, then move them into the car. Great service.

Cons: The car needed a service, perhaps wheel balancing, as it would shake a lot at certain speeds.

Cons: They are charging extra in Turkey for motorway tools ! 3 euro extra top of the cost of the road

Pros: 1.They charged me extra 130€ for the tolls before i went to a trip. It’s ridiculous! 2. I bought full covered insurance but they said that if I had an accident, I would have to pay the bills myself. And then deal with the insurance company and brokers yourself. it is absolutely insane!! 3. Car was dirty inside, has no water for the windshild and had 24 psi tire pressure in all 4 tires. Never again!!

Cons: That they withheld additional fees (tolls were calculated at 9 Euro per day which you had to pay before getting the car, this worked out to Euro 171 for us!). We were willing to pay tolls of course, after our trip, just like everyone else does, as this is how we've always done this.

Pros: Impeccable service by their staff, good car given and very easy to communicate on pick up and drop day.

Pros: The car wss ready at the time specified, I hot the car I asked for.

Cons: Some issues with the plate fallong off all the time, one of the baching lights not working. Tried to modify the rate saying that discovercars rates were not up to date. I answered that they were bound by the legal agreement, and that the rate would not change. They had to oblige and they did. Paid for the gps but it wasn’t available in the car, had to use my phone. They did not reimburse the gps expense.

Pros: Car was as expected, no issues

Cons: Auto Union contacted us the day before we were due to return the car saying we needed to return it several hours before the official return time. We were far from Istanbul and needed to catch a ferry as part of our journey and so stressed by this. They were insistent and unapologetic. The car was booked months earlier but they didn't mention this at the time of booking or at the time of collecting the car. Very unprofessional behaviour. Would not use again.

Cons: It was not clear that the drop off point was not at the airport and was 8km away. We were picked up from the airport and driven to the location, asked to pay up front, and we're given a car on literal empty. We were then told to bring the car back as close to empty as possible, an obvious ploy to end up with free gas.

Pros: I waited more than an hour outside the airport when it was very cold

Pros: they were willing to help and swap out the manual car for automatic( i had not driven a manual for over 10 years) but it all ended happily.

Cons: But we didn't have a Sim card so it was hard to contact them. And the airport wifi is difficult

Pros: Dropping off the car was really easy, shuttle service to the airport was very quick wasted no time and the sales person spoke perfect English.

Cons: They provided me with a Fiat which drove quite well, I think if the car did not have marks or dents then I would have given the car 10/10.

Cons: Car was delivered with just a minimum amount of fuel. Light for low fuel came on after going only 25 km.
