SIXT at Cancun Airport

Pros: Very straight forward on arrival to pick up the car, and extremely quick when dropping the car off. Shuttle to and from the airport was very efficient.

Pros: Car was in a good condition and clean. Quick pick-up and drop-off.

Cons: The credit card requirement is obligatory and they hold lots of money. Be sure that your bank will allow such high number.

Pros: Ils ne sont pas honnête et ne respectent pas vos contrats. Il font signer un contrat en arrivant dans leurs agence qui ne correspond pas à celui choisi sur internet. Ils prennent une caution démesuré sur place Nous sommes tombé en panne avec la voiture au bout de quelques jours, et nous ont changé de voiture pour une beaucoup plus petite que convenu sur le contrat nous avons du nous battre pour changer de voiture pour au final avoir une voiture qui nous coute plus cher. Accueil très désagréable

Cons: Misleading . Charged way extra over quoted amount . Difficult to get a hold of. Overall would not recommend to anyone or use again

Pros: The drop-off was efficient.

Cons: The intense pressure to purchase unnecessary insurance was almost at the level of bullying. The car had a lot of scratches and rattled while driving.

Pros: Very professional and efficient. The shuttle drive was a short 5-7 minutes away.

Cons: Just be careful if you don’t get full insurance. We only bought liability and used our Credit card benefits to cover the rest. The rep who checked us in scrutinized the car and found what looked like a half inch scuff on the front buffer that wasn’t on the original pictures. He then showed me to which I pointed out it was dirt. After it cleaned off, he then completed the check-in. Being a rental, it already had a lot of scratches. Personally, I would have been annoyed if they charged me.

Pros: Great service, nothing to say. Staff was friendly and helping. Easy access to the office thanks to the shuttle. No waiting time but I might have been lucky

Cons: If no internet up on arrival it could be a bit more challenging though. Couldn’t find sixt représentative in the short les area but thanks to whatsapp i have been able to discuss with the driver of the shuttle

Pros: In mexico, many times they are very forceful to sell you additional coverage. Sixt was not and seemed comfortable with DiscoverCar.com's full coverage.

Cons: Would be ideal if Six was in the airpot at cancun so one could avoid the shuttle ride but not a big deal.

Pros: Everything went smoothly renting from Sixt (it was my first time). Zero problems, very professional, no attempts to charge me for made up damage when I returned the car. The extra mandatory insurance everyone talks about for Mexico was included in the online price I agreed to for Sixt, they didn't attempt to add any additional insurance or changes when I picked up the car.

Pros: Clean Car

Cons: We reserved our car through Discover Cars. Discover cars sent a small email saying we are fully insured. When we got to the car rental shop they told us that Discover Cars Insurance is a Scam and if we leave here without buying Insurance we are liable for the entire car scratches etc. we had to leave a deposit of 1400€ that will take 2-3 months to be reimbursed. With Discover Cars our total cost was 350€ and we had to pay another 300€ at SiXT so in total our car cost 650€ for 1 week. Don’t rent.

Pros: The pick up was fairly smooth. The agents at the airport as well as the agency were kind and helpful.

Cons: 1) We requested transport as soon as we arrived as our flight was in 1.5 hours. We kept being told a few more mins and we followed up at least 5x.The shuttle came and left without us being informed. The agent blamed us saying we should have noticed. 2) I think the lack of care was due to the fact that I refused to sign a form accepting an additional cleaning fee for a little bit of sand in the vehicle. Vehicles are cleaned in between renters, this nothing new and there is no extra charge. Scam

Pros: Even though my discovery car booking was not on te system, the went above and beyond to help me. They respected the price, gave me a free upgrade, came up with solutions, and Gabriel Requena even rode with me to the nearest petrol station to completely fill up the car

Cons: The address to return the car is not well interpreted by Maps or google so it took a little while to find it.

Pros: Good and clear advice on the rate of rental and the insurance cover. Basic insurance and other premium insurance offers available. No pressure from the agent at the desk to take expensive insurance offer. Very effective and speedy service. Almost a brand new rental car was given ( upgraded for free from my original booking).

Cons: The different level of insurance covers were expensive. More than the car rental itself. The deposit on the car was huge(upgaded car by Sixt as they did not have the car size i booked), it was more than double the deposit i thought i had to pay for the original booking, luckily my credit card could afford such high deposit to be on hold.

Pros: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Cons: Had to wait to pick up car as all agents were busy with other customers.

Cons: A mix up at the beginning meant that they tried to charge us 5 times the agreed rate with Discover. This was resolved however.

Pros: SIXT cancelled my booking the moment I arrived at the airport. So I didn’t get a car as expected.

Pros: The deal I got by booking in advance was a lot cheaper that what they charged same day in Mexico.

Cons: That I couldn't get my car, since they insisted on using a physical credit card instead of a debit card. They also were not able to use my credit card number, apple pay or using a relatives credit card. They showed no interest in having me as customer and no flexibility. Our vacation in Mexico was to some extent destroyed since we didn't get a car at all and had to travel around by bus and taxi.

Pros: Cars were in good condition, free airport shuttle service

Cons: They did not have our cars ready, tried to give us worse cars than promised, tried to make us pay extra for special third party liability insurance by saying that government requires more than the basic third party liability insurance (already included in the price) and so on. Picking up the car was very slow and we felt like being scammed...

Pros: We spent about $360 for a one week trip. Insurance and gas included. The refundable deposit was $1160. It’s a good experience.

Pros: Sixt rep. was very professional and when I asked for transparency on the insurance options, they were appeasing to adjust the fees when I refused to pay for additional insurance that was not noted in writing in the contract. I appreciated that the rep. Was honest in answering my questions and did not give me a hard time.

Cons: there was no person to talk to at the airport. the shuttle would not get us for 2 hours to get to the rental car area.

Pros: I’ve rented in Cancun before and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had renting a car. However, this time, renting through DiscoverCars and Sixt, the process was smooth and quick. I got exactly what I booked and without any extra fees. The car was way cleaner than the last one I booked with another company and they didn’t try to hassle me with add ons.

Cons: The lady that checked me back in tried to say I damaged the car with a small dent, however I had pictures of all the damages from when I checked it out on my phone. She saw the pictures and accepted the damage was already there. It was a bit annoying to have to go through that process of the lady trying to tell me I damaged something I didn’t. It felt like a scam to be honest.

Pros: Easy checking and checkout. No hidden fees. Ability to communicate with rental company over WhatsApp

Cons: The car was pretty beaten up, had a ton of miles/km and the check engine light was on the whole time and the brakes made imbalance noise.

Pros: I was wary of scams, but they were very honest and the process was very easy. They offered the extra insurance, but on e I showed the full coverage through Discover, they moved right on. (Read the fine print on the Discover contract before arriving.)

Pros: Nothing.

Cons: Everything - had to spend more than 1 hour to pick up a car, they gave us a bad and smelly car with lots of dents/scratches. On drop-off it took 2 hours because they were trying to force damages on us for which we were not even aware of.

Cons: Hidden charges at airport, different to price agreed on the website. Also a huge deposit taken from credit card, which was probably more than the value of the car. Crappy car received, lots of dents and scuffs and bangs on it, faulty air conditioning. Grumpy, unhelpful man who served us at the counter when picking up the car, tried repeatedly to charge different prices.

Cons: They didn't provide what was in the voucher: - no working radio - no full-to-full policy - not paying in USD They are 30 mins from the airport and are super slow. They tried to make us pay more by trying to give us other cars

Cons: The car had just about 120'000 Km on its back. Spare wheel with too little air, windscreen wipers as old as the car and not efficent. Front tire had to be replace during rental time. After consulting two garages/workshops. The cost ( 1500 Pesos) was not refunded to us as we did not report it prior to the replacement. We had the car rented for 28 days and expected more generosity in that respect. We are disappointed. Extremly difficult to find the way to the return location. Never SIXT again

Cons: The agency gave us a different car than booked and asked for a bigger deposit which was beyond our budget. Also the car was automatic transition while we ordered manual.

Pros: Exactly as contracted. Careful explanation of contract. Returned in same condition and checked out with no problems. Numerous minor dings and scratches carefully noted by attendant during checkout, so no problems. Ordered car seat was present with no problem.

Pros: Nothing. There was no representative to meet me at the airport.

Cons: Everything. They failed as a business to provide what they promise - a car.

Cons: Ripped off at end if had to top up your fuel tank.

Pros: Car was clean. I didn't have to wait a lot to pick it up.

Cons: The pickup & dropoff point could be closer to the airport, like all other agencies out there. It was not easy to find and it took a while to go get the car while my family was waiting at the airport.

Pros: The only thing I can really say is thank goodness the real manager turned up because everyone else wanted to hold us responsible and charge us ridiculous amounts of money for damage we had not caused. A bumper was held on by one screw only and we were lucky that I did not fall off.

Cons: While they offered a 20% discount and waived the charge they have threatened us with I don’t consider this appropriate enough compensation. Having accepted the car was given to us in a condition not considered appropriate and have not been properly inspected, I think that the charge should have been waived in full.

Pros: Car was beat up and older. Trunk key didn’t work. Car had many dents and scratches on it. It also had 130,000 miles on it.

Cons: See above. Also, check in and out process was painfully long. Need to streamline check in and out process.

Pros: The service was great. I was looking for an inexpensive option, and I was happy with what we got. The car showed its wear, but for the price it was fine.

Pros: Seemed a lot more trustworthy than all other Cancun car rental agencies. They didn’t try to upswell us either. We were in and out. Did a full cosmetic inspection of the exterior before driving it off the lot and returning with an agent. Shuttle service was convenient and on-time.

Pros: They were very polite and quick on the spot during pick up and drop off, and the lady we had for drop off had excellent English which was really helpful.

Cons: We waited for over 30 mins for our shuttle to come get us at the airport. Had to borrow someone's phone to make a call even though I'd spoken with them the day before to make arrangements.

Cons: I rented a car online for that same day and because I didn't have a credit car I couldn't rent. When I asked if I could have the deposit back the answer was NO because the cancellation policy to receive the deposit back needed to be 3 days before. For someone that rents a car in the same day and needs to cancel, this policy is stupid.

Pros: Once we found the Sixt office (semi-hidden, by the side of a busy highway), the drop off process was very swift and there was a shuttle to the airport in no time.

Cons: There was no representative waiting at the airport and the office initially didn't pick up the phone. We waited for about 1 hour to find an agent and get into shuttle to the office. Once there, there was only 1 person behind the desk and the people in front of me were unaware of Sixt's mandatory deposit policy, which was strangely high (roughly $2K held on your credit card). The four people ahead of me ultimately couldn't cover this and had to take a shuttle back to the airport, dejected.

Pros: Very prompt, trusted car network with reasonable pricing - take the full insurance (with zero deductible) directly at counter only between 15-22 USD a day extra but worth it

Pros: No problems during the rental. All scratches on the car duly marked in the paperwork during pick-up.

Cons: You have to call them in order to get a ride on the shuttle bus (no desk at the airport). Closing time at 11 p.m. is tight for some flights.

Cons: Booked a car which was small but more confortable, they handed me a Chevy Aveo with a jurassic four-speed auto. Roomy, but noisy, harsh and wobbly. Also, the fuel tank was tiny and the windshield washer fluid was empty.

Cons: The car provided by Sixt was in an awful condition. It was full of dents, bumps and scratches. It was terrible to provide a car like this. Absolute shambles!

Cons: We actually didn’t end up getting the car we booked, they said that it was no longer available and we ended up having to pay much more for another car that was a lower category. Apart from the expense we had to deal with making so many calls to them which were lengthy & that lead to no solution to our problem apart from renting another car and like i said at a much higher price. Would never use them again!

Cons: They are far from the airport. When I wanted to extend the lease I was suddenly asked for a much higher price. I returned the vehicle and rented it from another company. Absolutely not recommended !!!

Cons: When I picked up the car at night they spent a lot of time noting all scratches (there were many and missing hubcap). Since it was dark they had to use a flashlight and still couldn't see well. When I returned the car they spent an inordinate amount of time checking again for scratches, this time in the daylight with better visibility and charged around $150 for what they claimed was a very minor scratch (even though I had purchased insurance). Felt like a total money making scam. Beware!!
