Europcar at Cancun Airport

Cons: Even though I had insurance through Discover Cars as well as an additional insurance provider they still made me purchase insurance through them.

Pros: Total scam, took my money and did not provide a car

Also, our luggage was stolen from the trunk on our last day (not car rental agency’s fault) but they charged us an extra $305 US for the “stolen” spare tire. We hadn’t thought to photograph the spare…. Terrible end to our trip.

Cons: they refused the gas policy "same to same" and asked to prepay a full tank even if it was for few days and I wouldn't have used the full amount. second they took from my credit card approx 1500€ bringing it over the monthly limit and effectively blocking my card. they will give them back up to 3 days after the return of the car

The agent at the airport brought us to the shuttle to the car rental desk. At the desk they disclose that additional insurance is required above and beyond everything that we had which doubled the rental cost. Yes, the website said additional coverage may be necessary but there was no disclosure on potential cost. Thieves. We walked away to Hertz.

Pros: Nice car, fast service

Cons: Fake prices, always has to pay more then what is showed. It was 200 USD at the beginning and payed 600 USD at the end. If i knew it was that expensive, i would note rent the car. Really, when you see a price on discover car or any other car rental company, multiply that price by 2 or 3 minimum. Fkn scammers

Cons: The possible buy off of the insurance was insane. Own risk 1.300 USD, buy off risk 800 USD. It took a bit time to deliver the car as it was chaotic. And by inspection Europcar was very picky on every scratch on the car even it was normal use scratches. Happy I took pictures before!

Cons: During pick up we had to wait at the terminal until a big group was gathered to get the transport. This was almost overbooked (with people on their feet), but it was fixed. Dissapointing because we thought the rental would be directly at the terminal. We had to wait to be registered and sign a lot of things. At drop off, we were in a queue of cars for 10 minutes in the sun befoer anyone talk to us and gave indications. Car revision was really slow.

Cons: This was a terrible experieince and we were cealry not alone as all renters in the office were having the same trouble. We were told that even though the rental agency had given us a final price with all necessary insurance that it wasn't enough and if we did not' pay $250US more they would block our credit card for $11,000 US. It was made on purpsoe to be very confusing and the salesperson was rude and dismissive and it was an overall terrible experience. Do not rent form this company!

He said that if I don’t take insurance, the deposit would be $8,000 (the booking said the deposit would be $5,000). I repeatedly refused the additional insurance products despite the pressure. Eventually he called his manager who gave the car without additional insurance and a $2500 deposit which I was happy with. I did not appreciate the disingenuous high pressure sales tactics used to ‘help’ me

Cons: I didn't find anyone on the aéroport, we called a phone number that found on agency but nobody came for us. I did a rent with another agency. I don't find any way to have my money back

Cons: They gave complete different price at the time of rental and I was charged both from discover and europcar. Fuel was not full at start and I forgot to check. It was only half full.

Cons: The Europcar in Mexico did not communicate the cost of collision damage waiver ahead of time and did not include it in the discovercar booking or give the option to add. When we showed up they said we had to give them $12,000 USD or pay an extra $100 USD a day for their insurance. Total scam. Do not book with them. Car was not very clean and started making noises as soon as we left the lot. Gas tank was almost empty when we started and they tried charging us for “bringing it back empty”.

They always try to sell you extra insurance (covered by discover car) and they take you in hostage because if your don't bring their insurance, you pay 5000$ deposit. their behavior is a shame.

Pros: Not much! To release the insurance you provided we needed to pay 5K. The limit on my credit card was 2K. Before that even became an issue, Europcar were trying to sell me local insurance which 'was better'. We had to go for this in the end and had to pay $800 extra to what you had quoted us originally. Europcar showed us no empathy, compassion or flexibility. It was a terrible way to start the holiday!

When outside, one of their staff approached us telling us that her friend had a better rental company down the road and they would come to collect us. Everything was so dodgy. The car was in bad condition and provided an uncomfortable drive. I would not recommend either company.

Cons: It wasnt "in-terminal" pick-up, while this was my main criterion for choosing Europcar. Shuttle bus wasnt arriving for over 30mins, while for other companies it was arriving every 10mins. Car we were given was different from model I booked - seemed lower class and with poorer equipment - it didnt even have central lock

Cons: Reading online that the cheaper agencies will try to sell you overpriced insurances, we chose Europcar because of the reliability of the company (although more expensive than most other agencies at Cancun Airport). Although we had done our research and know we had the required cover, Europcar still wouldnt hand us the car unless we took out a €70 p/day on top insurance. Only when we got back into the shuttlebus to go back to the airport, they offered €10 p/day instead. One word: Scammers!

Cons: First the fact I was not allowed in the shop with my son. they would not accept my credit card to pay stating it would cost a huge amount extra to do so, it had to be my sons card as he was driving (totally ridiculous). they took 8k uSD on his card and then refunded it immediately we have no idea why. Plus the bank charged him to convert it to £’s so it cost £65. Car was supposed to be a full tank of fuel and it wasn’t. Dents and scratches, plus tried to sell you more insurance.

Pros: We ordered a Nissan xtaril and was given at the beginning a small suv by wv which was small to fit our tree suitcases then they gave us Nissan epic which was a bit bigger but still wasn’t what we ordered.

Cons: far short of the standards of other Europcar I experienced worldwide. No different to local companies, with all the tricks that come with it: old and bashed up car (75k+), fuel: 1/3 tank full instead of full, requested a $10k deposit on the car (probably more than the car value itself) in spite of pre booking CDW, that was the supposed minimum insurance "excess", which can be waived if you're willing to pay double for your rental (ie another $40/day)

Pros: The car was decent, spacious and easy to drive. The agents on the return were much better than we picked up the car.

We booked with Europcar as it was a well known brand and was advertised as within the airport, we paid much more to start with for this benefit. Cons: On my reservation voucher the excess was 600 dollars, at the office they told me the excess is 1200 dollars and even after showing them the voucher they refused trying to show me a clause that was saying something completely different. My conclusion was that they didn't even understand English language to the full extent and they didn't even actually care they were just trying to convince me to buy the insurance. The stupid thing was that the full insurance was more expensive than the excess.

Cons: It took three hours to Pick up the car. Because there were 13 people waiting (3 desks working) before it was my turn. I has everything ready, licence, Passwort, Credit Card. The guy Did Not have to make anything else than put it in the system and give me the papers. No extra Insulaner etc... even this took him 25(!!!) Minuten. After that another 30 Minutes to wait for the car. I'm satisfied with discovercarhire, big this was the Last Time ln my life that I will Drive a europcar!
