Cons: The rental company at Canucn airport charged me for upgrade as they didn’t have the type of the car I initially booked. They shouldn’t charge as it’s their fault because they didn’t had the car even after advance booking. We got a car which had a issue and it suddenly stopped working after couple of days because of all this we wasted our 1 day and were not able to do anything or visit any place because of the car issue.

Pros: Dropping the car off and final inspection was quick and hassle free

Cons: They tried said additional insurance was required at the price of $750USD for 10 days. Even though right behind the agents head there was a notice stating that it wasn’t. Once I pointed that out the additional “required” insurance price dropped to $200USD. The agent went on to say the discover cars misleads people. During the pickup inspection be sure to look at all four tires. I found out too late one of the tires was completely bald. There were many dents and dings and scratches.

Cons: Well..The dollar desk in CUN was empty, and no one willing to help. Eventually found out they are merging with Avis, so made our way to the off terminal office. Once there was informed by a HUGE sign that any secondary insurance purchase was in effect worthless and local insurance was needed for the any car being rented. Long story short, $1300 usd for 12 days, on top of the rental fee and insurance already paid.

I took 14 pictures of dents and scrapes and quit when I found hanging parts in thr underbody. I was very offended and ended up spending 2 1/2 hours picking up a car I had already paid for. I was ssnt to three different guys, until dealing with a manager.

I also picked a car that came with collision and third party damage, but Mexico does not take that coverage either. Your prices were not reflective of Mexico’s insurance policies. I still needed to buy more insurance again under their laws, so I spent another $700 in insurance fees just to rent the car

Cons: Scam operation. They said I was required by law to buy their insurance. (Lies). But their extra insurance is not actually insurance. Instead, it's trumped-up charges which I declined repeatedly. The agent refused to rent the car to me unless I paid the bogus charges. The three items I was forced to buy under duress were: Credit Card Claim Package (which they said is required when you use insurance provided by credit card), Roadside Assistance and Loss of Use Coverage. I was scammed.

Pros: Just be sure you do your research on renting in Mexico - you do have to have the basic insurance with them. If you don't buy it directly from them (which I did over the phone with the AVESSA office in Mexico City) there is a chance they might have to change your rate when you pick up the car. All the ranting you hear from international customers about getting scammed at Mexican car rentals is 95% due to the fact that the system is a bit complicated and that most tourists don't get it. Research!

Pros: Apx 3 months ago we used this exact service & location w/Dollar and had a smooth experience. This time it was addon charge after addon charge and took nearly 2 hours to get our car. We ended up paying double for our car rental by the time it was all done. Last time it was exactly as advertised which is why we used this service again. Cons: Dollar did not have the Chevrolet Trax model we selected when booking and they tried to give us a much smaller SUV a Renault Stepway which was far too small for all our luggage and 4 passengers After lengthy discussions they finally agreed to give us a larger SUV but this wasted precious driving time and meant we had to drive in the dark - not ideal in a country where the driving is on a different side of the road

Pros: The shuttle to and from the airport was fast and easy to use. Car was clean and and was as advertised. Was not charged unexpected fees. Staff was friendly.

Cons: It took a very long time to go through the process to get the car and then to wait for the car to be brought to the pickup spot (over 1.5 hours). The key fob did not lock/unlock doors/trunk and there weren't manual locks. After an hour of googling, I figured out the secrets to locking the doors (push button on dash for 5 seconds with one door open, wait for 3rd click, then close door) and open doors (turn key in lock lft, then rt, then lt, open driver door). Car difficult to start sometimes.

Pros: Dollar is part of the Hertz, and is located in the Hertz Office in the Cancun Airport Terminal 2 Arrivals, on the other side of the Bus Parking Lot. A 1 minute walk. You can see it, but can’t get to it, due to construction hoarding, unless you take the Hertz Shuttle Bus. The person staffing the booth in the Terminal, and the Agent I dealt with, were very professional. Pay attention to directions the Dollar/Budget person inside the Terminal tells you, because once outside, it is a Human Zoo.

Cons: Unfortunately the Insurance I booked through Discover, was deemed essentially worthless. The Agent described the scenarios of driving in Mexico, and the liabilities, so I bought full comprehensive Insurance from Dollar/Budget, which was extremely expensive. It was my choice, but I’m not a gambler, and don’t have time to deal with bureaucracy. That’s how the Agencies are recovering their Covid losses.

Cons: Dollar "Lost" our photos that were proof of the condition of the car, and charged us for damage that was there when we picked up the car. The car was full of dents when we picked it up, it is clear they are charging renters for damage they haven't done and are not fixing it. Additionally, the agent was incredibly hostile. Finally, when we picked up the car, there was no one at the desk (though it said it was a 24 hour pickup) and we had to call around to find someone to help us.

Cons: My contract with you included TPL and once I picked up the car, they said that coverage was not recognized by them. If I was to be involved in an accident, I'd have to pay for the damages and then, take it up with you. It was the same story for my coverage with Capital One/Master Card, they would not recognize their coverage for collision/theft. That is not reassuring. But it seems like all rental car companies in Mexico do the same.

We were going to Cancun and the insurance did not applied. The agent said we " didn't understand" the insurance description and insisted we had to take it. Obviously we didn't.
