Firefly at Cancun Airport

Pros: NOTHING.

Cons: Firefely lied to me and INSISTED I had to pay insurance. They also scammed me by saying that I was late and they had to charge me for a much more expensive car. I was warned by friends this might happen, but they were so insistent that I pay that they were going to cancel my rental. They tried to charge me over 1400$ for the car that I had booked for $217. In the end we agreed on ~$400, but even that was a lie.

Cons: Firefly is run by Avasa. Agents are rude and pushy. If you are late they will question you and cancel reservation. You walk away from desk peeved and angry.

Cons: The price was very very expensive. The car was very very small and could not fit 7 adult passengers. We had to pay an additional $500 in taxis to get around because we could not all fit

Cons: I think the car was not in a condition to be rented, dented everywhere , not the correct (not for that car) part to hide our luggages in the trunk

Pros: Check engine light came on soon after we took off and warning message with a wrench on the entire time

Cons: The car was not ready and they could only offer me a far worse vehicle for the same money. It took nearly 2 hours to get the vehicle and Hertz (which operates Firefly) would not honor the insurance I purchased through Discover Cars. There was also a panel dragging on the ground when we drove away. It was not dangerous, but it made very loud noises.

Cons: The services was like a scam, we booked the car online with the price of roughly 500 CAD through discovercars.com, then when we arrived to Cancun, the car rental company charged us 1500 CAD for mandatory insurance and better car. They didn’t give us the option we booked with 500 CAD.

Cons: Charge me more than double of what I am supposed to pay. I was supposed to pay approximately $470 CAD when picking up. The representative ended up charges me $1100 CAD when pick up. First he said no to seeing the insurance document I printed. And gave me hard time to rent the car and wanted to put $25,000 CAD as security deposit and being very hard sell of their insurance. I was at a point where I said I have that limit but their credit card machine clearly cannot charge that, and told me no car

Cons: There was a discrepancy between the payment we’re expecting to make to pick up the car - $370.81 (booking number - DC-2694114) and the one we actually did upon returning the car - $535 (according to the paper you can see here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/o2q3epkc1flapra/Firefly_charge_issue.HEIC?dl=0). We would really appreciate if you can clarify the difference.

Cons: Customer service doesn’t help at all they just wanna sell and they don’t are in the same page with discover cars offer, terrible experience, they don’t recognize and respect the reservation and down payment you did via online just wanna make the sale on the office directly with firefly. I want my money back!

Cons: Felt scammed, like a robbery for tourist that reserved online. As the online reservation doesnt mean anything as they will give you a new price in the store that has nothing to do with the online reservation.

Cons: They refused to rent at the quoted price and badgered and outright lied to me twice. This was in Mexico which may be different.

Cons: It was difficult to find representative, they were not at the desk at the terminal, instead, there was one guy standing around parking area with nearly invisible sign. Of course they were trying to push me to go for more expressive insurance and I had to argue about the price that I’m to pay. The car was old, the central lock system didn’t work so I had to lock each door manually. There was no water in washers. And the floor/bottom of the trunk definitely wasn’t the original board.

Cons: They had me waiting for 2 houres with a 2 year old till the got a car. I had to renew the credit card monthly going to a hertz spot and find out about this with a 2 day overdue contract. NO ONE told me before

After they tried to sell extra insurance and give you the worst oldest car they have without steering power. After I protested I got a better car, but with damage already at tge moment of collection.

Cons: The delivery and drop off is done by Hertz! I had to queue 1.5h to get my car, I paid one extra day for 2-3h but was useless because of the delay to pick-up the car! The car was not in a perfect mecanical condition! Was ok anyway for the rental price

Cons: The staff at the rental place was impossible to deal with, always wanted to make more money one way or another. Makes me not want to rent ever again when travelling to Cancun.

Pros: NOTHING... .absolutely horrible all around. They aren't even Firefly, they are Hertz masquerading as another company.

Cons: The Cancun firefly location is scamming people. I just came back from Mexico and the car rental was a harrowing way to start my vacation. I rented through “discovercars.com” and prepaid for the vehicle and full insurance coverage. Upon picking up the car, I was told that I did not have full coverage unless I purchased it through Hertz directly and that they would make me sign paper saying I do not have full coverage and they knew nothing about what I bought through DiscoverCars.

Pros: I liked that it was all prepaid with the insurance included.

Cons: That I wasn't told before hand that all the brands were merged together for covid and I had to go to hertz along with hundreds of other people and wait 3 hours to get my car and then still be told I had to buy more insurance even though it clearly stated that I was covered by Firefly and I bought my own additional rental insurance with my travel insurance. Them before I left with my car I had to listen to a presentation about tours to buy even though I asked not to.
