Cons: Minor issue returning the car. A visual damage assessment hadn't been made prior to us taking the car. We made our own video of the initial condition. We received a bit of a lecture about taking the car without the visual inspection being competed by the staff but this process hadn't been made clear to us. When we had rented from Ilha Verde in the past (previous day on Pico) the assessment of the initial vehicle condition had been made prior to our arrival. Procedures need to be clear.

Pros: Sao Miguel is very hilly. The brakes on the van squealed the whole time we had the van. With an 8 passenger vehicle ( or any vehicle) safety is the #1 priority. No vehicle should be rented with squeaky brakes.

Pros: Very efficient in how they're doing registration, car pickup and return, and price is good - which is also reflected that almost all rental cars in Azores are from Ilha Verde. There's more rental companies operating in Azores but almost no one is using them.

Cons: Did not particularly like the car configuration (Renault Clio) - it had a very often incorrectly working (and thus useless) system for detecting speed limits from road signs (blame Renault), when having folding mirrors would have been actually useful for parking on narrow streets.

Tried to change the tire but we couldn't because the wrench wouldn't work on the bolts of the tire; meaning the tire had been changed before, probably because of prior flats. Because of that, we had to call them so that they help us with the problem. We got left stranded in the middle of nowhere for 3 hours. - When we returned the car, they charged us 180$ because of the flat or they would keep 1200$

Cons: Other than the costs, compared to using third-party sites, I would try to work with PDL to update the car rental return sign as you approach the airport to include that Ilha Verde is the second turn-off to return and not the first.

Thought I was second in line then a coupe arrived that had been there before us, had gone to another counter and the returned. I was not informed of this until I seeked information when I was served as to why that customer was served first. Should have been told of the situation and saved a lot of concern with being cut off in line. When I went to get the vehicle, they could not find it at first,

A lot of information needed at the desk can be provided on beforehand. The baby seat was very basic (no isofix, loose ends at the straps, very light, …) it felt rather unsafe.

Cons: Reserved an automatic car received a manual transmission car. Didn't know until actually in the car and had everything checked out. I'm guessing automatic cars have a price premium that I paid but did not receive the benefit. When returning the car there wasn't an agent at the desk for about 10 minutes.

Cons: They charged me €350 for a flat tyre that occurred within 15 mins of picking the car up and we had the hassle of changing the wheel andthe car over. We were told no damage to the wheel had occurred and it was just one of those things. On returning the replacement car we were informed that lots of work had been required on the punctured wheel. No evidence of the work required was provided other than an invoice when the car was returned. We were effectively held to ransom. I would not use again.

The agent was just waiting for the system to print the forms. It was ridiculous, Sam timely process for dropping the car off. The rental car also had very squeaky brakes and the passenger mirror was scraped.

The original vehicle that I reserved was not available for 3 hours because my reservation time was 9am but should have been 6am - this was my mistake. SUV that I did rent was great, worked well and was just right for me and my fellow travelers.

But a quick chat with a colleague and checking their inventory (a car with auto transmission! Yes!) allowed us to proceed to our Air BnB. No Worries!

Cons: Long wait to get car and they did not assist us with the tire light. The car we rented had a low tire pressure warning light on and the rental place told us they did not have air available, so we had to find a station that had tire air available.
