Pros: Overall, all representatives from the counter, pick-up and drop-off were very friendly and helpful. The process is fast and there is not too much confusing paperwork to go through.

Cons: It is not clear that the additional coverage is from DiscoverCars and not from Ilha Verde directly. So when we checked in they said we only have the basic coverage which was not true. It would be clearer if all parties were aware of the coverage applied to avoid confusion. Otherwise, the service was great!

Cons: Personnel at check out could not explain policies for minor damage that could happen with the car and or policies regarding damage such as difference between scratch on plastic vs metal, etc.

Pros: I did not like the serve at all. We waited 45 min in a short line, the service providers were curt, they did not explain the pick up information or drop off services. We had to find the car without any assistance. We did not take pictures of the car but did notice it wasn't clean. We were discovered that we had just over a half a tank. When we returned the car, they told is we had $450 of damages. We had no incidents with the the car but since we didn't have their insurance, we had to pay .

Pros: There are a lot of negative reviews on Google so I was worried, but in the event the hire was fine and service good. No concerns.

Pros: They offered an electric car, which is my preference. The car was well equipped. I also liked the fueling policy, where I was allowed to return the car uncharged with no extra fees. I like the pre-paid charging card, although it was not clear where the card is authorized and where it is not.

Cons: Due to good offers, the check-in office was rather crowded, and at check-out, we also had to wait a bit. The car itself was good, but apparently, it had been used by a smoker, which made the air in the interior unpleasant. Next time, I would also appreciate a bigger traction battery. This one required frequent charging, and sometimes it was a challenge to find a charger that accepts the card. Surprisingly, some Galp chargers did not accept the card, while some other providers accepted the card.

Cons: We only wanted a 7-passenger but had to take a 9-passenger due to lack of availability. Also, I was sent an email to check in early for our car pickup but after going through all of the steps (entering personal info, passport #, drivers license #, etc.) there was an error message saying that the driver's license was not authorized to drive this type of vehicle. When we got to the pick up place, there were no issues so I don't know why there was an issue when doing it online.

Pros: This was one of the best car rental experiences I've ever had. All Ilha Verde staff with whom I interacted were professional, friendly, and honest. There were no attempts to upsell or engage in any other shady practices that are common in the car rental industry, such as trying to charge a customer for pre-existing damage or add previously undisclosed charges. The car was in great condition.

Cons: For car drop off I had to take the paperwork back to the terminal building. When I got there it was a large line. I never had to wait to drop off a car like that. Eventually I asked and they took my paper but you should improve this process as people have to go catch a flight and can’t be waiting to drop off a piece of paper.

The car had issues for example the electronic system blacked out with apple car play as we were driving and could not be reset while driving and we got lost.

Pros: I’ve been renting from Ilha Verde for over 10 years and the process for pickup and return has definitely improved. 15 minutes or so each way, with friendly and helpful associates.

Cons: This time around the car was in fair/poor condition. Filthy windshield interior, poor wipers, and worn interior upholstery/touchpoints. I got a low tire pressure light within the first day and discovered some tires were overinflated and some were way under. I don’t really mind the cars age, but they should be better cleaned. Between the condition and mileage it felt like maybe this car was ready for retirement. However it did the job and got us around the island safely.

Cons: I rented a compact SUV and they gave us a Mazda 2 - a mini car. When I asked about getting the correct size, they said it was the correct size (a Mazda 2 is not a compact SUV, a Mazda cx3 or cx5 size is the car I expected) and could do nothing about it. We liked the car but it was not what we rented nor a good price for that small of a car.

Pros: Due to the delay of flight we missed our connecting flight and arrived to Azores 5 hours later. They were very nice and waited for us even after opening hours to pick up the car. The deal was quick.

Pros: Hub caps kept coming off for no reason. Had to buy 2 new ones and take the rest off. Had to do an oil change as light came on saying it needed to be changed. Middle seat very hard to pull up to get people in the back seat. Back door does not stay open slammed and shut on my hip. Another service light came on as well. I called multiple times and no one ever answered.

Pros: Finding the agent in the airport was fairly easy, however, I would advise to request your car pick up for two hours prior to your actual arrival as I was unable to acquire the car immediately. Our flight arrived early and the car was delayed, and therefore there was a long waiting period.

Our car was booked at 8 am and when we got there at 7:15 am they were not willing to give us car 45 min earlier (never happened in any other country). We waited in line for 30 min just to find out there is another desk 50 feet further where you drop papers off. Thay desk had only one person who was not there.

Is the only company who doesn’t work with Drop off Box, but it should, because these unforeseen events, or at least pick up the phone 24h.

Pros: All of the staff I interacted with were great - friendly, helpful and efficient.

Cons: There was quite a back up of people waiting for cars when we landed. One or two more staff members to help with the check in would have been appreciated.

Pros: Our first car made a noise while driving that we did not like and trust. So we drove back to the rental company the next day and explained the issue. No discussion necessary: we got apologies and a other, newer car. Good service!

Pros: Person at the desk was all business but also very friendly and helpful.

Cons: Drop off was two steps - outside and then back to the desk (to release the hold on the credit card).

Pros: It is very easy to find the rental office in the airport. The staff was nice and helpful (to pick up and return the car). I was a bit concerned about the 1600€ deposit, as I read bad reviews online, but few minutes after returning the car, the deposit was already back in my bank account. While traveling, I was told twice that my car was nice and clean compared to other rental companies. I'd use them again for sure and I'll recommend them also.

Cons: Minor issue returning the car. A visual damage assessment hadn't been made prior to us taking the car. We made our own video of the initial condition. We received a bit of a lecture about taking the car without the visual inspection being competed by the staff but this process hadn't been made clear to us. When we had rented from Ilha Verde in the past (previous day on Pico) the assessment of the initial vehicle condition had been made prior to our arrival. Procedures need to be clear.

Pros: The car itself was amazing! clean and almost new

Cons: Picking up was too slow, the agents typed information incorrectly two times, so had to reprint the papers.

Cons: They gave me a car with VERY spent tires to drive across a region of hills and valleys and rain... It was a replacement car because I had an issue with the first one and I only detected the issue with the tires in the second day. I drive very slowly and carefully because of this. I'm sure they would have replaced the car right away if I brought it up, but still lack of maintenance...

Pros: Getting off the plane, I went to the representative's desk to hand over my car reservation. The agent (a middle aged lady) who served me became very rude after I asked a couple of questions about signing the car-condition form (since I hadn't seen my car yet). However, the staff in the parking lot were just the opposite, and they were very kind and very helpful.

Pros: The car itself was good but as a customer I did not feel treated correctly. The supervisor of the service desk communicated very harshly and didn’t give us any information that we needed. When we arrived 10mins before the opening hours she just shouted at as that we would need to pay extra if we wanted to give our car back „did I tell you that or did I tell you that“ Next time we book a different car company. Please educate your staff
