Pick-up instructions
After collecting the luggage, customers should leave the main terminal and go outside the building through the first exit door located right in front of arrivals door. Customers must head towards P5 located on the right of the terminal and wait near the "MINI BUS" line (spot 07 marked on the ground) where they will be collected by the Goldcar courtesy bus. If the bus has not arrived yet, the customers can wait there for it. This shuttle bus will take them directly to our office located just outside the airport (no more than 5 minutes distance). In case of any delay, customers can contact the Goldcar office using the direct line +351 914 348 755

Cons: Misalignment between DiscoverCars and Goldcar as it seems that they speak different languages at times. We already had positive experience with DiscoverCar, so we were rather disappointed in Goldcar in certain aspects (ex. push for extra insurance mentioning that DiscoverCar’s one was not good, extra charge for driving license being not certain years old, and not recognizing Revolut Visa as an acceptable deposit means while it was accepted in other rental agencies).

Pros: The company was very nonchalant about the car condition upon return. The rental process at the counter was efficient, and so is the dropping off process.

Cons: The shuttle at the airport was hard to locate, and the company needed to be called by phone to arrange for pick-up at the airport. The car's clutch might need to be adjusted or replaced - it is too high for comfortable driving.

Pros: GoldCar being the low cost version of Europcar has provided a better service at that location then the premium brand. All the people there are 5 starts. The shuttle from the airport to the location is very good and picking up the car and dropping off was easy and quick. Goldcar is to be used again when we return.

Cons: The car I booked was not available when I arrived at the pickup location. I had to pay twice the advertised price because they didn't accept my credit card (strangely they did when I made the reservation). The car they gave me was broken, dented, scratched and with a lack of paint on the doors. I had to take the car, just because I no longer had time to look for an alternative. Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 2300.00), Theft Protection, Third Party Liability (TPL), Free modifications, State Tax.
Rate excludes
The following surcharges may apply: Premium Location surcharge.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A novice driver fee will apply to drivers who have held their driver license for less than 4 years.

A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Customers not resident in EU countries are required to present the following document(s): International Driving Permit (IDP) in order to collect the car.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.
Licences issued in Mexico are not accepted.

In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.
Deposit and deductible policy


A separate fuel deposit is required when collecting the vehicle.


If the customer takes the following extra equipment: GPS Navigation system, Toll pass / E-toll device, then an additional amount of deposit will be held on their credit card.
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
Underage additional drivers are subject to both Young Driver and Additional Driver fees.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.

Optional extras are subject to the following additional charge(s): Premium Location surcharge, Airport Surcharge.
Delivery/Collection service is available only by previous request.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
A deposit for a tank of fuel is required upon pick up.

Diesel vehicles are available only by request upon arrival. Diesel vehicles are available for an additional charge.
Additional information
Winter tires are not mandatory in Portugal.
Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
Rental period
The maximum rental period per agreement is 28 days.
If the renter would like to extend the rental period, renter should return to the car hire office at the end of the rental period to sign a new agreement.
Business hours
The supplier will hold the vehicle for 360 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
If the customer is late for a return for more than 59 minutes, extra day charges will apply, in addition to any other rental charges.
