Cons: We were overcharged 85 Euro upon return of the car, which Budget said we would have to take-up with DIscoverCars. DiscoverCars was prompt and courteous in solving the issue with Budget, and Budget refunded the overpayment.

Pros: At least I got a car that belong to a category originally desired

Cons: Got a vehicle that had something like 50 scratches and marks all over the place. In fact there have been so many marks that it was not possible to put on paper any additional marks except maybe a roof. And when picking a car to inspect it properly would take a good part of an hour to do it - especially in a badly lit garage. Also in t&c it was clearly stated that I can pay by cc, debit card or even cash for deposit as well as for rental itself. But at pick up i was told only cc accepted.

Pros: Agent was friendly and gave details of driving and parking conditions in Malta.

Cons: Hidden charge(s). Our plane was delayed. Once I knew we were delayed, I called Budget to let them know. The booking said we could pick the car up until 8pm. We picked it up at 910pm. When I spoke to the agent, when I knew we were going to be late, he said there was no problem as he was there until 1am. Upon arrival, we were charged an additional 25€ for late pick up. There was no arguing with the agent who said this was the policy. I am still trying to deal with this issue.

Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 26.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 2 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Driver licenses will be accepted if issued in the following country(ies): EU.
For driver licenses from countries not party to the International Driving Permit treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license.
Otherwise, the renter must provide an International Driver Permit (IDP).
In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: passport, valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, booking voucher.
In order to pick up the car, domestic renters must present the following documents: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher, proof of home address (e.g. Utility bill).
A local renter is defined as a renter who is a resident of Malta.
Drivers over the age of 75 must present a doctor's certificate of health.
Deposit and deductible policy
If the customer takes the following extra equipment: GPS Navigation system, Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age), Additional Driver, Mandatory surcharges, then an additional amount of deposit will be held on their credit card.

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Electric vehicles must be returned with the same battery charge they had when picked up to avoid additional charges (on a per kWh basis). An additional admin fee will be charged if a vehicle is returned with less than 70 % battery charge remaining.
