Pros: Not much. The car was ready.

Cons: They would only let my husband take the shuttle to the rental place. They made the rest of us wait at the airport alone. The car was fully paid, with full insurance, but they told my husband that our VISA bank card was not adequate, even though that's what we paid with. I had additional credit cards that we could have shown them for the deposit, but they refused to come get me at the airport to do so. The only way they would give him the car was for an additional 200 euro. What a scam.

Pros: No service provided. ANC Azores would not honour our prepaid booking because we arrived one day late due to unforeseen circumstances.

Cons: When I made my reservation, I was guaranteed a specific car model, but I did not receive it in the end. The first car I was given also had a damaged tire, so I had to ask for a replacement. They changed it without any problem, which I appreciated.

They also prioritized a family that did NOT have a rental reserved over those that did, which made the wait longer. Also be warned; they wait to drop you back off at the airport until the van is near full, so it can take half an hour. Plan accordingly. They also gave us a bigger car than we rented, which is bad in Ponta Delgada.

Cons: When scheduling pickup, site showed flight arriving three hours after actual. I put in pickup time before this time (but after arrival), it warned that if late car could be given away. To try to get system to cooperate set pickup time for three hours after needed time. As result car was not ready when needed. Staff was helpful in arranging a car in a timely manner but with the delay nonetheless. This might be the result of DiscoverCars.com's site as a third-party and not attributable to ANC.

Cons: Ordered a Mitsubishi Space Star, ended up with a lemon yellow Peugot 208 with lots of scratches that gave various confusing and contradictory messages about engine oil levels throughout our rental.

Cons: Car rental is not at the airport and I had to wait more than an hour in the rain. The pick up area should be covered. Shuttle was full so had to wait for next shuttle. Then once I was picked up, had to wait 30 minutes. Agent pushed very expensive insurance but another agent offered a different customer insurance for much less.

Cons: It's a bit of a hassle to have to be driven to/from a remote location to access the rental. We waited about 45 minutes for our transfer back to the airport so overall it took over an hour to drop off the car and get to the airport.

Cons: Lors du drop off l'agent tente de nous faire payer un frais de lavage de véhicule sous prétexte que nous avions refusé cette prime lors du pick-up. Ce qui était complètement faux, il nous avait jamais rien proposé ni même posé aucune question. De plus, le véhicule n'était pas sale de façon déraisonnable. Nous n'avions roulé dans aucun chemin terreux. Il n'a pas parlé de cela aux autres clients qui ont ramené des véhicules en même temps que nous.

Cons: Everything else. Getting the car took an hour and we were only 2nd in line. Dropping off I refused to wait in the 6-deep line for an agent (mostly people picking up) and had to go in the parking lot to flag someone down. They rent out cars that desperately need to have the battery replaced.

I find it’s slightly to much time wasted.

Pros: The car we rented was fine. It had several dents and scratches in. These were appropriately marked in the paperwork that we were given to assure us that we would not be charged for these scratches upon our return.

Cons: The location was offsite from the airport and difficult to navigate. They don’t have a consistent bus traveling back-and-forth between the airport and required that I call to schedule a pick up. We waited 30 or 40 minutes to figure this out and be picked up. Upon return, there was a great influx of vehicles and an inappropriate amount of staff to deal with this.It took us 30 minutes to check our car in.

Insurance options are way to pricey for car value. Not recommended at all.

Cons: When I asked for a taxi back to our hotel after returning the car, they called me a private driver rather than a taxi and they were 25 euros, rather than the 16 euro taxi.

When the shuttle finally departed, the driver would not take us to the departures area but left us in a parking lot. Consequently, we missed the check-in window for our flight. This treatment was extremely unprofessional, and we hold ANC/Discover responsible for financial damages incurred.

Once we landed, i called contact i had been given and within few mins, our ride to car rental office arrived to pick up us. It was easy and quite fast to arrange all the things, no issues with English at all. Car return occurred also very quickly with no issues. Quite higher credit card deposit was released quite quickly though. Best price offered. Very polite customer service, we even communicated via WhatsApp.

Cons: They aren't located at the airport and I had to call them and wait for them to come pick us up, which was not ideal after long travels to get there. Also, they weren't super friendly and seem used to having disgruntled clients and meeting them with disgruntled attitudes. Three of us rented cars through Discover.com -- one used Hertz without an issue, the other two of us went with ANC and would not use them again.

Pros: They were quick and adaptive in picking us up at the airport, and dropping us off (despite the latter being before their opening hours). The car was clean and tidy, and there were no issues or disagreements concerning the state upon returning.

Cons: In the papers sent to us by DiscoverCars, it was stated that we should find ANC's office in the airport upon landing, after which we would be driven to the main office. ANC doesn't have any office at all in the airport though, which we only found out after walking back and forth several times without finding them. Upon calling them, however, they were friendly, and quickly sent someone to pick us up.

Pros: I was so suspicious of the great deal I got that I also reserved at Hertz, which was over $700, but these guys: $200! I also appreciated that there was no pressure for extras ant pickup and I could fill up with gas at the drop off. They’re next door to a (cheap) gas station.

Cons: Pick up and drop off were easy but do take extra time and the car itself was basic and not super clean. But for the deal I got, I am totally fine with that. Definitely worth it.

Cons: The pick up from the airport was poorly organized, we waited 2 hours for the counter to open, then when the shuttle finally arrived, they filled the bus with people that arrived after us, and we were told we had to wait for the next shuttle

Pros: Inexpensive, quality car. They were also very flexible in letting me extend my rental for a day.

Cons: Picking up the car took a very long time. No one was at the airport kiosk for about an hour. By the time they arrived, there was a long queue of people who were waiting to pick up their rentals and it took a while to get through the line.

Cons: I was allowed to reserve the car on-line for a 7:30 A.M. pick however the ANC rental office did not open until 8:00 A.M.

Cons: They first provided me a car with faulty brakes that I had to return the following day. When I returned the car and explained the situation they did give me another rental but I heard the colleague say in Portuguese that they knew the brakes were bad. They didn’t know I understood the language and so I responded and said why would you guys give me a car knowing the brakes were faulty. The associate “Nuno” said they didn’t think it was that bad. I had to take time out of my trip to get a new car.

Before my flight there I called and I was told that I would need to take a taxi from the center of town to pick up the car in the city and when I got there they told me that there was a free shuttle bus that I could have taken instead of paying for a taxi 10 euro. Cons: Although the desk was supposed to be open when we arrived, no one was there, and no one picked up the phone on the first call. We heard back quickly, and it was ultimately fairly easy to pick up, but we experienced some uncertainty at the beginning of our trip.

Pros: Friendly, helpful and efficient. They clearly explained everything, helped obtain intended extras (children seat and additional driver) and did not push too much for extras.

Cons: Office infrastructure: no bright place to review car condition when picking up at night/dark. Car state: mainly the gearbox was quite worn out, otherwise ok.

Cons: Car I received was clean but pretty banged up. Lots of visible damage. On the positive side it ran well and was pretty cheap.

Pros: Drop off was very fast and shuttle was able to get us to the airport earlier than expected. Cost of these vehicles are much cheaper than ones in the airport terminal.

Cons: Pick up took time with Shuttle and overall volume of people waiting to be serviced. Vehicle was in rough condition but functional for our intended use. Flight delays caused some concern as the rental policy pickup window is very short, customer service eventually referred me directly to the rental company to address the issue which was challenging mid travel.
