DiscoverCars.com App Named World’s Best Car Rental Booking App for the Fourth Year in a Row

With great honor, we are delighted to announce that the DiscoverCars.com app has been named Europe’s Best Car Rental Booking App 2026 and the World’s Best Car Rental Booking App 2026 by the World Travel Tech Awards. The results were announced at the gala ceremony held in Jamaica on the 12th of October.

Why is winning the World Travel Tech Awards important to us?

While our story started with the website — which received its own recognition, winning the World Travel Tech Awards Best Car Rental Booking Website category — the DiscoverCars.com App has taken a confident spot in the space of car rental booking options.

Three times we were nominated in the category, but didn't win — in 2020, 2021 and 2023. It was the very beginning of strategic decisions, app development and unlocking new opportunities for all. The work has paid off. We won the category in the following years — 2023, 2024, 2025 and now in 2026, making this year’s win the fourth in a row.

From a website only to a dedicated mobile team, it’s been a true evolution of the DiscoverCars.com app! We improved our app experience, making the flow simpler, details easier to read, and the design more intuitive. Our app definitely looks very different now. The efforts of our talented mobile app team are behind this, and this award is an international recognition of their work.

Unlike the majority of the industry awards where submissions are reviewed by judges, the World Travel Tech Awards are unique in determining the winners. Industry professionals are very welcome to participate in selecting the winners by officially registering their names and other details to participate in voting as professionals. These votes carry twice the weight of public votes. A combination of professional and public votes — both undeniably important — is what makes this award different and valuable, showing the result that can be read as a whole.

The entry process and evaluation

This time it was different in terms of the entry level for this category. While the world stage was the starting point for the participants in all previous years, Europe steps in in 2026. Meaning all participants undergo the evaluation for being the best in the region first. Participants who are recognized on the European stage, proceed to the world level. The winner is determined for both. Therefore, the European stage plays a role as both a mediator and an independent category. The same process takes place for the other regions with the app's category available.

As for the rest of the entry process, the rules and conditions remained the same. Once the nomination was confirmed and publicly announced, the voting period started. It was open for almost three months this year, from the 1st of June to the 21st of August, when customers, industry professionals and the technology community were all invited to cast their votes. The results are straightforward: those who receive the most votes win

Overall, the European region had 18 categories this year, including Europe’s Best Travel App, Europe’s Best Travel Technology Provider, Europe’s Best Hotel Website, and the Best Car Rental Booking Website and App categories. All in all, bringing 108 participants together for the region.

Five regional participants, including ourselves, made it to the World’s Best Car Rental Booking App category, where we competed with the winners of Oceania, North America, the Middle East and Asia, proudly being recognized as the world winners.

About the World Travel Tech Awards

The World Travel Tech Awards is the sister event of the World Travel Awards, established 33 years ago, back in 1993. The invariable goal of both organizations is to celebrate excellence in the travel industry all over the world. The launch of the World Travel Tech Awards, separating travel technology from the rest of the travel categories, was a response to the highly digitalized travel world. The Awards run annually, having announced their winners for the 6th time in 2026.
